Deviate Cycles are a Scottish manufacturer of high pivot mountain bikes.
Here we share videos including latest releases, tutorials and collaborations.
ABOUT THE HIGH PIVOT SUSPENSION PLATFORM
We firmly believe that high pivot designs offer the best, most capable suspension for most categories of mountain bike. Upon impact, the rear wheel moves slightly rearwards as well as upwards, allowing the rear wheel to take a smoother path over obstacles maintaining the bike’s forward momentum. In essence, in chunky terrain it allows the high pivot suspension design to out-perform other suspension systems with similar travel.

A hand painted Claymore frame depicting the beauty of the Cairngorms, the place where Deviate was conceived. Aimed at telling a story of humble beginnings, artist Douglas Roulston uses his own Deviate bike as a tool to reach the more remote parts of Scotland so he can then sketch these unreal landscapes. This project was no different, after going on a ride to the Cairngorms with Ben Jones (Co-o...

Ahhhhhh! Through the head tube 💡
These complex suspension systems are unsuited to a wet climate.
Other than online how do I get a bike in the US I live in Maine willing to drive
Hey Gabriel - your closest one is Ski The Whites. skithewhites.com (603) 383 - 3142. If you don't have any luck there, do get in touch with us directly on info@deviatecycles.com!
@@deviatecycles thanks guys found them through someone that goes there . Can’t wait to surprise my Scottish wife with a Scottish bike
respect mate
WHO THE FUCK is this guy, looks like a bloody bmxer or something! yuk
I saw the bine yesterday it was so cool especially the gd leaf on it
Nice video good music!
Damn that Tam Sempson guy deserves his own channel or something! Ehh hes great, must have previous bike media experience 🙃
Dropping this 48 hours after another call to the office !! its a sign .
100% ;) Going to try out the route as well?
Already done it ..and Lawyers and Ghlas ....McDui next
Hold up, was that THEE Tom Simpson? Hes a freakin BMX legend!
The one and only!! His comment back is "Haha!! Amazing! The guy behind that account was and still is an ACTUAL bmx legend tho, so that's made my day". You guyssssss
One of the most inspirational thing I have seen in a long time and the fact it was done by a 18 year old humbles me/1 good job mate you are going to go far in life with grit like that
Deviate sent me a new Dualco grease gun after I let them know that my first one wasn't able to push grease through both bottom ports on the linkage. The new gun struggles with the same port, as well as the rear-most one on the drive side. Do I need to take the whole linkage off and pull the seals to clean it out? Kinda frustrated to be spending so much effort on what should be a <5min service item
Hi @EgrayDET we're sorry to hear your having some issues with your linkage grease ports. If you could email info@deviatecycles.com outlining this we will be on hand to get to the bottom of this for you.
I had the same problem, can be fixed by cleaning out ports with isopropyl alcohol and a pick to loosen up the ports, especially if they arent regularly used.
I was brought up on Coulin estate, from 4 years old until almost 20 when I had to leave. The little hut you stopped at has always been called "The Teahouse". A stopping off point when we worked ponies into the hills during deer stalking time. The little burn in front of the hut is the Easan Dorcha, my brother and I fished American Brook Trout there as boys. Great memories. Thanks for the upload.😊
Awesome video!
That trail has been on my bucket list for years. Also, the HT550 is not a gravel race, it is very much a mtb race despite the amount of gravel on the route. Most riders are riding hard tail mtb and more than a few are on full sus
It's a tough call as such a mix of terrain! instagram.com/headinthesky_mtb/ rode the whole thing on her Highlander II so very doable but would suggest it's down to personal preference!
I live in hill i could do this on... you may have inspired me to awaken early on a work day a ride a hill before the commute. Love it 🤘🏼
Luv Torridon...and no one shows it off better than you Andrew...congrats to you and Louise exellent days riding 👍 I can't believe that Visit Scotland haven't employed your services to promote mtbing in Scotland ...long may you continue to showcase it 😊
We couldn't agree more, both Andrew and Louise have done an amazing job with this episode. What an unreal trail!
Great to hear someone say Liathach pretty well. Math rinn thu.
100% agreed
Great video and great route, but the HT550 very much isn't a gravel bike route 😂
Thanks! The HT550 is certainly in a category of it's own
Love this company. Great details on the frame design. Really excited to see what they come up with in the next couple years.
Thank you so much for the kind words! Lots of great new projects lined up for the year ahead so keep your eyes peeled :)
Great vids these frm Andrew n Louise . Fantastic bikers n ppl great bikes guys luv um 😎
We're glad you enjoyed it!
Andrew, Deviate and Torridon!!!! Amazing!! ❤ from Canada.
Much appreciated!
Saw this very bike at Tweedlove today. Stunning artwork and bling - athough it was a tad muddy :D Looking forward to a Demo on a Highlander tomorrow too!
It really is a piece of art. Thanks for dropping by our tent and we hope your Highlander II demo went well!
@@deviatecycles The demo was great if a bit limited due to fitness lol. I watched the video on the bike too and hadn't realised Dougie was actually the artist too! Was nice to get a close up look at it
Yeah it's a pretty special bike! "Almost" too nice to ride ;)
Wow amazing effort chapeau
Is this available as a retrofit to an existing Claymore?
Yes. www.deviatecycles.com/mullet-rear-triangle
Why not have it installed from factory or better still have some proper cable routing inside the frame to stop it bouncing around in the first place??
There are guide cables installed in the factory to make for easy installation. It's pretty much impossible to install the foam without the actual dropper cable you're going to use.
The summer time in Scotland 😉
Hah! Very unforgiving!!
Loved this guys.
Thank you so much!
The deviate has been my dream bike for a while and this is just beautiful
Appreciate it! They've been really popular with the more recent batch now going out the door to customers!
Love a good dawn patrol
Keeps the cobwebs away!
another amazing edit and a great project!
yooo, spicy edit! The T goes hard 🔥🥵
when will the claymore mx be available to demo at HQ?
Roughly mid May. Drop us an email on info@deviatecycles.com and we can help you get booked in!
Do you guys have that tool for the BB she’ll available to buy? Figure I am already gonna buy new linkage from yall and could tack that on the order if possible
Yes this is available. Best to email us on info@deviatecycles.com so we can set-up the order for you including the tool.
Merino wool is your friend, it'll keep you warm even when it's wet. And please for the love of God get some waterproof clothing - anywhere in the UK is going to be wet a lot of the time, but Scotland is just colder and wetter than the rest (& the Highlands are usually the coldest and wettest part of Scotland). Wish I'd had this young man's fortitude back when I was his age, rather than now when I'm old and my body isn't up to the task anymore. Much respect to Mr Fairbrother (and wisdom gained I suspect). 😁
Which Nozzle, extension are you using? The long angled is needed for the lower link to rear triangle bolts and also the upper pivot bolt, which is recessed?
We use a modded Dualco Grease Gun which you can buy from our store!
@@josh_DeviateCycles fab, thank you I’ll be sure to order one 🤘🏼
Best bike I’ve owned!
What a glorious bike paint is amazing !!!
How did we miss this?? Cheers Stuart!!
Who's filming the third person segments? Because if Matt is wasting time to set up a camera, only to ride by for the shot and then go back to fetch the camera, he's got loads of time to gain back.
Nice but why are you comparing your effort to the Kilians UTMB time? You did not do the UTMB course but went in the other direction. Yes you went around the mont blanc massif following the TMB tracks but it has nothing to do with Kilian and the UTMB time...
It's literally a bit of fun! Think of it as a "top gear challenge".
@@BenJones-sk8gz Having done the CCC I was at first surprised that I didnt recognize any climb then saw his track on Strava and realized he went the other way around. So how can he say constantly I was behind him xx minutes etc... comon he should have just done the UTMB. I'm intrigued to do it myself now haha
It's pretty well accepted that on an MTB it's better clockwise... This was not designed to be a direct comparison to a runner on the UTMB, there were several route changes versus the running UTMB route - made for the enjoyment of the ride.
@@BenJones-sk8gzOh ok thats fine, then I just find it strange that he keeps comparing his time...
Dude.... Go back and do it again! You got this!
Yessssss!! So excited yo!!
What a guy! Great job!
RESPECT!
Dude is a unit. Just an hour behind one of the world's greatest trail/mountain runners, and he did it carrying a bike!!
so no adjustable chainstays length....
The kid is a beast!
the claymore as been my favoured bike for the last 3 months i looks no nice keep it up
Top Man Matthew. Great trail and awesome riding.
Is that the right amount? That seems like so much, do you clean up the extra after it squeezes out?
There's no hard and fast rule here, as long as it clears out any muck thats built up and the excess grease is cleared away then you should be fine!
