Many people are confused by this but no, this is not right, you are looking at the dagger stats sheet and only the masteries from greatsword will show up that they(devs) set it as "global" buff like the heavy attack chance or the attack speed, but not the hit rate, that doesn't mean you don't get it while you have dagger main hand and casting great sword skills. In a nutshell the hit rate from the small nodes are coded to great sword so it will never show up on the stats sheet of dagger, but heavy attack and some others will. If you guys want i can provide proof that it works like this, just take out the skill dmg boost node from greatsword while having daggers as main and hit some deathblows, numbers change so if that applies then the hit rate applies aswell it just doesn't show up on the DAGGER STATS SHEET! that you are looking at.

There are endless considerations in this game. This became apparent to me when I noticed that my staff far outgained my wand by about 50% with exp.

i think when you do the x skill it draws out the weapon it needs so you get that weapons passives abilities and stats at that time.for example my bow has 17 m attact range my staff has 19 when i use staff skills i can hit targets from a distance my bow skills dont reach

i ve been playing for a week and i finally understand weapon swamping....cause i didnt know the reason for it

I've tested this bow crits : you get the same behaviour on the stat sheet but in reality all the mastery from bow applies. You'll get the exact same damage on crit with or without the bow in hand, even though bow masteries have both small and large nodes that add damage.

short answer: Mastery works on THAT specific weapon, not on both. BUT the small and large nodes DO work on every skill you activate (for that weapon). Just remember it's an MMO and the game just won't refresh your UI as fast to see it.

The info is there far right hand side (icon looks like a play button) of how mastery works, Mastery Effect is when you have weapon in hand, Mastery Skill takes effect when you use a skill with either Weapon. Looking at all the comments, real gamers are dead, only copy paste sheep left

I think the most important stat for gs/dagger is hit, then crit and heavy attack. Every good backline player plays full melee evasion. So, having a lot of hit is must imo.

I believe GS Dagger, being an "Assassin" in and out playstyle picking targets for the quick kill and then going out, the most important aspect is HIT & CRIT... You're targeting squishies in the backline and flank, and most range/squishies build a TON OF MELEE EVASION, over 1.2k+... You won't do anything if your hit isn't above that.

Wouldn’t exactly make a whole lot of sense to have offhanded weapon, activation rate attached to a great sword

I'd love to see a full guide on PVE GS/Dagger. Like your skills, combos, specializations, mastery etc

i dont think this is correct. the big nodes dont carry over either.

This is so that you actually have to make a decision as to which weapon you should have out at any given moment and actually use the "Switch weapon" button. In your case, if you need additional survivability, you switch to your daggers. If you need more damage, you switch to the Greatsword before doing your combo. You are supposed to pick a "defensive/utility" weapon and an "offensive" weapon and switch accordingly. This is also why each weapon has 3 different trees to spec into. If all the passive applied at all times, there just wouldn't be a "Switch weapon" button.

So from what I've observed; For the weapon that is NOT "out". The small nodes actually seem to apply at a 1/3 rate (rounded down). Where as the big nodes don't apply at all. You can see this by refunding a mastery and seeing the stat difference. The reason why I think it's rounded down is the staffs +2 wisdom (small node) doesn't give any wisdom while the staff is not held. Mastery is just another example of a badly designed system in the game.

This is not true. As you can easily test, you only get the evasion mastery from the dagger big node with your daggers out.

i just thought greatsword base damage is more compared to daggers so thats the difference didnt thought it due the mastery points

Weird af since when you cast the skill, the character picks the correct weapon. I mean.... Overcomplicated, they're passives... Should be up all the time.

i swear this game has so many weird mechanics built into it for no reason, why would they do that? i just also found out endurance only works against crit chances and not overall durability whose gonna guess that?

So... All the major nodes apply all the time no matter the weapon currently held, but the small nodes only apply when you have that weapon out?
