Random Rides - Friends, Cars, Bikes you name it!
Hey, nice vid! I am looking now to get a 2007 690. Could you please tell me if you had any problems with it since you bought it? Do you still have it?
hey I have one. 30.000 km and no problems,
LOVE this review as i do have a Black 09 plate Bandit 650 and it is all that you say over a distance i get a bit uncomfortable and to hold it at 50 mph i find it jumpy as it may be the point it wants to want a bit more for the injection system . They are a budget bike they are tough bikes they do survive all weathers and they are as heavy as a loaded mini skip and feel like one when trying to keep up with some bikes, but they are relatively cheap to insure as only strong people might steal them and weaker ones be crushed by them. I will eventually get a lighter machine but if i can keep the Bandit also then i will
I'm 72, started riding at 16 and have a Bandit 650, so have experienced many "interesting" things over the years. Regarding the comments about "1st bike" and "beginner bike". Just remember that it is more then fast enough to cost you a big fine and, more importantly, your license, then you won't be able to ride any bike for quite a while. Ride safe, ride sensibly and you may just live long enough to be a grumpy old biker like me!
This motorcycle in my country, do not close to be a "beginner bike", hahaha. we here start with 50cc, 125cc 150cc, 18y old. 600cc up here is a big motorcycle. glad to see you keeping on two wheels, cheers from Brazil.
Great review, thanks, pick up my 2023 tomorrow
Thanks for sharing this video, it's very useful. I also have Bandit, 2008, naked, 650. I really love it. My first motorbike and I think it's not a real learner bike but mainly because of its weight. But if you go more hundred kilometers you won't have problem with the weight.
It all depends I suppose, for me it happened to be a learner bike because my lessons were on 650's, I only learned to ride at 26 so I had access to all of the bikes at that age, considering after this I had a Z1000SX and now am at my second Superduke, it was comparatively a learner. Funnily enough, I still have this in the garage, I sold it but it was never ridden after I did.
It is indeed a good learner bike, meaning that its heavy enough and not fast enough so you cant go wrong easily. I currently own this guy, and comparatively to mt07 and trident 660 latest editions, this weighs like a war tank so when you switch to other bikes you will feel them easy af.
Yeah, the moment you step on a more modern bike, the difference in weight is significant. Other than that though, it was pretty decent considering how cheap you could get em at that time.
Brooo, your 690 is much more advanced in tech than mine 660 smc,the real OG. No battery,no electric start,no key, nothing. That bike is as simple as internal combustion can get, kickstart it and hold tight that handlebars because it will lose you on the road🤣
Fake Bandit ,proper ones are oil cooled . ABS only helps to prevent skidding ,it can actually cause you to take longer to come to a halt increasing braking distance . I owned the 2000 Y model 600 in the U.K. , it had plenty of power for real world riding & good mid range where the power was needed . It would cruise all day at 70 to 90 mph & was tested by MCM at 129 mph top speed ., how fast do you want to go on public roads . It was pretty docile up to 400 revs ,& very agile once moving & one of the best larger bikes for cutting & dicing city traffic . I fitted mine with a Givi fly screen & enabled the bike to cruise in more comfort above 70 mph . My 600 bandit never broke down in 20 years ,nor dropped or crashed . Still had original exhaust on with two new stainless joint collars that replaced the rotted mild steel original joint , standard air box & carbs . Extras included ,Givi fly screen , rear hugger / mudguard ,gold X chain ,chrome engine bars , steel braided brake hoses , Renntec sports rear rack . No such thing as a learner bike , there are small medium & large capacity motor cycles, I have ridden motorcycles for over 50 years have full licence , I ride what ever size & capacity motorcycle suits my need & purpose at the time .
Great video mate. You did a great job. I mean in detail. Can you tell me what are the RPMs at 100 kmh in 6th gear. Thanks mate. Appreciate it. p.s. Drop by when you can, you may find my content interesting for you.
Im 193 cm its good for me ?
Depends on what you mean by good. I am 193 as well. I did not have any discomfort size wise. But I did not take it on long trips, I used this to do commutes and daily shorter rides. Were I to, say, go for a ride of 300+km in a day, I would take my other motorcycle.
I used to have the duke based on the same model, and one question I have is.. Why aren't you shifting up a gear when you're riding at higher speeds? Like the engine can take it.. But it doesn't mean you should leave it revving that high
I don't think I did that on purpose. But I do remember keeping it in higher revs because at low revs this particular bike seemed to feel like a pogo stick. Also just to get more power out of it I believe. Aside from that, Fortnine did just release a video about higher revs, debunking the myth that you shouldn't leave it in higher revs. Can be found here: ruclips.net/video/zhUI7MWE_Fc/видео.html
Brother, a question, is this motorcycle recommended for long trips?
Sorry for the late reply, I didn't see your comment, unfortunately I don't think this is a good motorcycle for long trips, I mostly used this one for local hoon rides and had a second 1000cc bike for longer rides. Even when I owned the 2019 690SMCR, it was still backbreaking on longer trips. Maybe you are in better shape than I am and it would bother you less, but I can confirm having pains days after taking long rides with the 690.
Great bike for touring
Hey dude. Why you sold the 690 sm? I am gonna buy it but maube i am g9nna make a mistake?
I sold it because on longer trips where we ride 300-500km a day it was uncomfortable. I weigh 95-100kg at 1m94 so that doesnt help. I don't think buying one is a mistake, in fact I miss it every day, if I had more money available to me, I would have a 1290 and a 690.
thanks for this vid mate !! I'm looking for a 2007 to 2012 650 as my first bike.
Is it the camera angle but I couldn't travel that quick in built up area or other roads in fear of me having someone stepping or pulling out on me.🤪
Great review mate . I wanted to ask about the ergonomics. You are a big man, aren't you cramped on the 650 bandit? I am looking to buy same one in the future but I am 200cm tall. Do you think this will still be comfortable or we(big guys) should look more in an adventure bikes like versys 650. I would greatly appreciate your answer on this matter as I am in love with naked bikes : )
Nice run mate, nice tank bag too, what brand or make is it?
Good review. I have the same bike but 2 years older restricted for the A2 licence. They're a lot of fun, and on the whole cheap - when you look at them like that what more could you want
If you get this bike, or the S model or the 1250, doesn't matter. BUY A NEW SEAT! The stock seat is absolute murder after a 2 hour ride. There's a shop in UK, called "just bandits" and they do great seats, with optional gel inserts.
Prestige has that gunmetal plastics all over and Marchesini wheels. Kudos on keeping the stock exhaust, aftermarket ones ruin the Dakar Rally look
Stock exhaust ewwww
Gonna buy a ktm 690 sm mrestige w 27k km of 2007 for 4000€. Is it worth it or not?
Funnily enough, I bought the new 690, then sold the new one and bought a 1290, now I am once again looking for a Husqvarna 610/630 or a Ktm 640/690 as a cheap second bike, in my country, which is Belgium, the prices at this time are around 4k, to be honest it is about 1k too much. Weirdly enough, winter seems to have less offers than summer, so once offers are more plentiful, the price should go down. Unless the money is not that much of an issue, I would not go above 3.5k unless your model is really pristine.
@@FxMoto ty for your fast answer! I'm also from belgium hahah. And the ktm that i will buy has 2x leovince exhausts. A friend of my said the same 3.5k is the price but the seller says minimum 3900 haha.
@@Kawasakibikerfreak in that case since we're in the same boat my advice would be to wait. Last year there were many more options than there are now and prices were lower. If u can wait, I would strongly advise you to wait as right now there are no truly great options available under 4k.
@@FxMoto i bought it today for 3800 hahah i couldn't wait because i got my license this month and i already want to start ;ppp. But i don't think i will lose money because the prices are around 4500 of these models. The only one problem is my insurance, the price is tooo high :/
@@Kawasakibikerfreak One thing I've leanred is you always lose money on bikes unless you're at the bottom price :D But either way I hope you have fun with it, dunno if you'd be interested but you can always join our discord, just a group of randoms that sometimes go ride together :)
Does this bike have fuel injector or carburetor?
Fuel injected :)
@@FxMoto thanx for the quick answer man. I found a page that was saying it is carburetor and I was like whaaaat?
@@MeRiJohnny i called the ktm dealer in belgium to ask for revision and idk why but they said that it's a carbu😂😂😂 i had to laugh on the phone hahah
A complete disgrace video no sound. There is music there is music.
Of the 13minutes, 1.48 minutes are music, the rest is talking about the motorcycle, ggwp :)
This seems to be a very charming city, I hope I can visit sometime in the future. Seeing and sharing places like this is why I love traveling and make videos so much! And please keep up the great job! Subscribed!!
I pick mine up tomorrow
“See this road? It’s broken as f***..” Love how succinctly you put things.
Eloquent as ever!
Still waiting for the driver to reply to his cameo
Awesome review bro!
Thanks for watching! :)
@@FxMoto I actually bought the 2009 KTM 690 SM with the double Akrapovich exhaust and I love it, never going back to sport bikes again, thanks again for the review, it definitely helped me make the right choice!
@@robertsbrinkis2022 That's awesome to read. I enjoyed it a lot as well. I owned the 2020 after and I probably enjoyed the first iteration more. Which is weird, but it had a certain charm the refined 2020 didnt have :) Have fun with it! I already changed over to a super duke at this time 😅 have yet to make a video about it
@@FxMoto The first thing I loved about the 2009 model was just how raw it is, no abs, no electronic nannies, the only way to stay alive is to control your right hand :D Glad to hear about the super duke, I would love to see a video about it from you :) Ride safe bro!
Nice video!!
F*ck, that bike is like me. Not exceptional in any field but enough to have fun with. Nice video, i'm thinking on buying one, and i think i will go for it.
Haha, I never regretted owning it! Sometimes I even miss it now.
Nice vid mate. I’ve got a K6 with ABS and I love it!
Thanks for watching!
Nice review. I think it would be good to put the names of the tyres, brakes etc. that you have in the video description.
Thanks for watching! Thats a great idea!
Wallonia Syndrome :p Nice vid bro!
Ireland?
Are you asking where I am from? Where it was filmed? In either case I'm afraid not. Belgian and filmed in Belgium :)
Did you sold your 690 SM (the old model with the Pelican nose)?
I did indeed. Sold both my bikes. Just have this one now :)
@@FxMoto ah awesome! Amazing new bike! Are gonna make some videos about mods for the bike? I have an old 690 model, still loving that thing everyday! But one day i want a 690 smc!
@@Marlonlabrie Yeah I will, I'm a bit busy right now, but I do plan on making more videos!
Love the sound of a big thumper!
This is the carburated version of the 650 right? If you'd switch it with a injection 650 it pulls way more/faster! I had the carburated as well and switched it up for the injection 650, it is way faster! 😍
Hi, thanks for watching, no this one doesn't have a carburator I'm afraid, it's the injection as well
@@FxMoto yeah you're correct i can see it at the beginning of the video now!
That mercedes guy so bad, case of small testes 😂😂😂
First ;)
12°C zijde nie gewend he 😂 New bike sounds 💯💦💦💦💦💦 You need some nicer looking mirrors tho 🍆
ICE COLD 🥶
Good review, thank you! I've had a 2008 S version over here in Hong Kong since 2015 - now has a lot of kms on the clock (115,919 ) and still runs very well. I must say I prefer the look of the round headlight version though - your exhaust also has a nicer note than the stock version!
Thats awesome that people put so many kms on their bikes. I also prefer the round headlight :) Thanks for watching!
The Bandit 650 is a great machine. I had the SV650 3rd gen that also has the round light and it was a great bike. :) Now I have a Yamaha Tracer 9. Drop by, you may like my content. :)
Hi! I'm a totally noobie new biker from Italy, I just got a 2009 690 supermoto with 38k km as first real bike ever (I only drove 125 scooters for almost 4 years) because since 2012 I fell in love with the bike style, aesthetic and drive mode. I'm totally inexperienced with bike maintenance and the only datas I've gathered online are the same that I found on the maintenance book, which I understand but doesn't contain a "360°" view of it, may I ask you what are the major do's and dont's for this bike (about usage and maintenance)? I apologize for my bad grammar and syntax, love from Italy!
First of all thanks for watching and second of all your grammar aint bad lol. But I am afraid I'm gonna have to dissapoint you concerning maintenance, I've had this bike for about 6 months, 3 of which I havent used it due to bad weather. So I haven't really done maintenance on it myself either, and I've recently traded it in for 2020 SMC-R. Also I'm not a big maintenance guy myself, either I postpone doing it myself or I just take it to a garage whenever I feel something is off. Sorry I wish I could be of more help :)
@@FxMoto thank you very much! Well I wish you'll experience better weather to fully enjoy your new bike!
