    Enjoyed your video and you hit on good points. We got our first Trailer(31 ft) last year it was used just a little over a year old. One of the guys I worked with got a new one and he said he wished he had bought used because they are less expensive and usually they have most of the problems taken care of which I can say we have only had a few things to take care of. We stayed at my son's property for about 8 months so stationary for awhile. Then we took our real first trip from Virginia to California and back with stops to see family and friends along the way. Places to park was a bit of a challenge but got easier as we learned. We did end up staying in a couple of rest areas on the way out but not on the way back too noisy had to move one night because the RV(older model )next to us ran their generator and we figured it was going to be all night. We did have a couple of things rattled loose one being the power panel so yeah things happen. The other thing we had happen was some sheet metal damage to the skirting and one side marker light taken out by a couple of road cones in a construction site. So all in all we did have a good trip and looking forward to this spring and hopefully by then we will have it together better. We did learn a lot which will make it all the better this spring.

      Hm. Good question. I would check to see if it nights when you use a match or a lighter. It may be that your gas line is clogged. If you take the burner cap off, you’ll see a little piece under there with a tiny hole in it. You can use something like a toothpick to clean that out. Just be careful not to break any part of it off in the hole.

    I notice the packaging says it's for outdoor use only. What does that mean exactly? Is it not safe to use even though it says it's lead free? I notice it also has a California state warning that it could contain lead and not be safe. So this is somewhat confusing. Thank you.

    • @DustyTrailRV
      @DustyTrailRV Месяц назад

      Hello! Many products have the California state warning. That has to do with California’s state law that requires businesses to label items that certain chemicals, even if it does not make the product unsafe. This is a California standard, not a national standard. These regulators are marketed for both RVs and boats and are used by many. I am separate from Camco, so particular questions like this may be best to ask them directly.

      That is the brain child of Dan (Dan themanrvrepair.com). It looked to me like it was an electric hoist with a platform that was tracked to the fly section of that ladder. I’ve seen hoists like this before where the motor is mounted at the bottom of the ladder and there is a reverse pulley attached to the highest rung of the ladder and then a platform (of some sort) that runs the rails like a track.

    The other reason an AC unit leaks, especially if leaking when it rains, is the gasket between the RV roof and the AC. It is a black foam large square gasket with a square 14" hole in middle. You may be able to see it from the inside if you take the filter down. Make sure your AC unit is not loose. Do not over tighten. To replace you need to pull the AC. This is easy though. There are vids. When I did this, I did not remove the shroud at all. One trick is do not remove all the wires the go the box you see attached to the shroud at minute 1:14. Instead remove the box from the shroud from inside the RV. You can see it looking up. Then unplug the multi-pin connected from that little box to the AC. Now the AC is free from the RV and you can lift it up and turn it over to fix the gasket.

    • @DustyTrailRV
      @DustyTrailRV 4 месяца назад

      That is a great point! Luckily this unit was pretty new so I didn’t worry about the gasket being bad. I have definitely seen them start losing their structure after several years. I also didn’t mention that it could be the ac unit freezing up. All great points! I’ll have to make another video when I come across an ac unit with a failed gasket or a frozen evaporator coil! Thanks for your comment! Hopefully it will be helpful to others!!

    Now RV parks won't let in any RV that is older than 10 years old. Apparently, people pull them in and abandon them because it's cheaper to do that than to dispose of the RV themselves. Or they are not maintained and now the people can't pull them out. This is expensive... This is why my rig can be parked in a parking lot, and go stealth. I'm in a cargo van.

    • @DustyTrailRV

      Yep! Some RVers definitely ruined it for the rest of us. The age rule is a very unfortunate rule, but there are definitely parks who will still accept older rigs. Can you then lower the pressure? I thought you needed a faucet open to properly adjust the pressure, but I don't know if this is correct or not.

      Once you've hit a pressure limit, you cannot reduce it without releasing the pressure first. When I set these up, I leave a faucet running inside to get an accurate pressure read. With this particular regulator, I had to shut the water down and release all the pressure to be able to lower the pressure.

    Thank you. ✌️🙂, Awesome information. I really appreciate your honesty. I'm like you as for being an introvert. I'm feeling that I'm into being an rv person. I've been in a sticks and bricks life and I'm retired now. This has really given me the right stuff to be concerning. Thanks again ✌️😏 🌈🎶

      I hope this was helpful! I think RVing is a great opportunity! Especially for retirees! Congrats on the retirement. What are so other topics that I could cover that you would find helpful?

    Back in 1992, wanting to move out of my parent's house, I found a leftover "Shasta" 25RK 5th Wheel that was marked down from $18,000 to $10,000! I decided to live in it at my state's oldest (and nicest) mobile home park. Normal, non-moveable trailer homeowners paid $300 per month for rent, but had to cut their own grass, rake leaves, and shovel snow. RV owners paid $315 per month but all yard care was done for us by the maintenance staff. And le$$ than $100 paid for my electric bill, land line phone bill, and propane gas. It became almost everybody's favorite place to hang out. And my neighbors knew how to roll up my awning during a wind storm, plus knew where my spare key was located un case rhey ran out of food or beverages. Because I didn't want to but a lousy gas mileage vehicle to tow it, I traded it in on a leftover "Itasca Micro Spirit" reduced from $33,000 down to $25,000. Unfortunately, a fall off a ladder prevented me from returning to the park. Have since owned a "Winnebago LeSharo", an "Airstream 22CCD" and an "Airstream Parkway". Can't even afford to, um, "pay attention*!!! 😮

    Yes you hit it right square on the mail pilot light will not stay lit and turn on my rv lap gas oven. Thank you so much for your succinct video the money I save is much needed for a retiree on a fixed income If you knew how much money I have spent to live full time in a motorhome This video will save a bunch I will follow your advice and let you know 1 hold down pilot longer 2 Clean off thermocouple 3 check for distance between the pilot and thermocouple 4 Replace if necessary and showing how to plreplace. For us DIY we need to see every step it the (take for granted) we need to see. Ex that tiny little screw to replace and even show where you and to seat the thermocouple thanks moke

      I am so glad you found the video helpful! I agree! DIY projects are so much easier with videos that show the steps. Are there any other projects that you have that I can help with?
