Excellent stuff - takes me back to '85 under Derek Garside.

Keep coming back to this for my fix !! It might just be the best example of this most wonderful iconic piece I've ever heard. And boy have there been some greats.....

Played this at ripon cathedral at the contest and listening to it afterwards sounded fenominal!

Great performance, although as a Bb player, I would have liked to hear some pedals at 4.44 to give it some colour and depth.

What a great performance. Everything balanced. Wonderful interaction between the various soloists. Soprano bang on , trombones punching through at the end. Even the conductor clear in his beat!Berlioz was a great fan of brass bands and had four scored for "Grande Messe des Mortes" . He would have been pleased with this colourful performance. Dare I say better than the orchestral version?!

Who is the arranger of this number?

The MD sounds a bit like John Bishop in places.... (The music was good too! ;) )

And he tops the band on the last note! I would love to have had the bell facing the camera during the rest of the performance too. Well done Patrik! Well done band too, horrendously hard accompaniment.

This is my Mums brother and my lovely Uncle, Trevor Groom....love to hear him play, makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up....so so very proud xx
