4-Wheel trails in Colorado, Moab, & Arizona
These videos are produced to show the trails, so other 4-wheelers can decide if the trail is what they would like to drive. We try to show the scenery and the difficulty of the trail. As you know videos flatten out the steepness of the hills.

HOW TO POWER WASH YOUR HOUSE SEPT 3, 2024
In the early afternoon we were in our home when all of a sudden the worst rainstorm hit our house. It was like being on the inside of a waterfall. Soon we found that a 24 inch watermain had broken in the street near the front of our home.
The water shot rocks up from the ground and totaled an old Camero, and may have damaged roofs. The flood washed a lot of landscaping material down the street. We had some water enter the lower part of our home.
The city shut off the water within about 20 minutes. The fire department arrived and assisted me in preventing more damage. A lady from the city utilities also arrived and provided claim information.

Again, we joined some of the other FMCA 4-Wheel members and ventured out to drive Lower Pass and Poacher’s Loop. We were led by Mary Deardorff over this beautiful trail. The first part was down through the stream and meadow of Lower Pass. The trail started at the small town of Granite. We passed the remains of the old mining community of Hankinsville on our way up to Poacher’s Loop. A really ni...

We joined the FMCA 4-Wheelers in Buena Vista for a week of 4-wheeling. Our second trail ride was Champion Mill and Halfmoon Creek. An easy & scenic trail in the area of Leadville. It is between Mount Elbert and Mount Massive. High point is about 11, 500 feet. Many thanks to Ted Groszewski for leading this ride. Even better, Ted and Mimi treated all of us to Ice cream at Louie”s Ice cream shop i...

Can you Hackett? Hackett Gulch is one of the three gulches within the Hayman fire burn area. All three are moderate trails with a few obstacles here and there. All have beautiful views.
CHINA WALL 7 20 2024
Просмотров 535Месяц назад
This Saturday we picked China Wall trail. We entered through the North gate instead of the main trail head. We decided to drive over the high hill which took us back to almost the start of the main trail. After doing the usual rock challenges including the China Wall, we stopped at the Tarryall Creek. On our way back we took the North route to the steep hill which is always fun to drive. I had ...
SLAUGHTERHOUSE GULCH 7 6 2024

We made our way up to Slaughterhouse Gulch by going through Deckers and then turning onto highway 285. Beautiful trip, start to finish. We enjoyed the flowers and obstacles so much we looped around and drove the trail twice. Fun boulders to play on with some bypasses.
BULL PARK - NOT A WALK IN THE PARK 6-28-2024
Просмотров 2562 месяца назад
Our destination was Bull Park, just off the Old Stage Road near Victor, Colorado. This trail led us over continual rocks with one interruption of mud. The trail is fun with manageable size rocks throughout the trip, with no large obstacles. Very scenic with views at the end of the trail of Victor gold mining tailings. The end of the trail has some very large boulders and a great overlook. Also,...
MEANDERING THROUGH THE FOREST 6 21 2024
Просмотров 402 месяца назад
This week we took on three different trails. Saran Wrap, Eagle Rock, and parts of Frosty Park. These trails, like most all trails have eroded from the weather over the past years. The Colorado mountains are beautiful. Driving through the forests with pine and aspen trees, with a few elk mixed in, 4-wheeling couldn’t be better.
EXPLORING LA SALLE PASS & BADGER MOUNTAIN
Просмотров 663 месяца назад
Saturday morning, we set out to tackle China Wall, but found out it is closed seasonally until June 15th. La Salle Pass trail is just across the road so we headed west on this easy trail. It’s a beautiful scenic trail with lots of aspen and pine trees. We also drove up Badger Mountain trail which gave us a view of South Park and the Collegiate mountains that overlook Buena Vista.
THE DEVASTATION OF A FOREST - THE HAYMAN FIRE 22 YEARS LATER
Просмотров 843 месяца назад
This weekend we picked Metberry Gulch, which is one of three gulches within the Hayman Fire Burn area. The Hayman fire was an arson and burned over 215 square miles of forest and claimed 133 residences, in 2002. We decided to drive there by going up through West Creek, Co. It’s a beautiful scenic drive with few obstacles, and ends at the Platte River.
SCHUBARTH TRAIL MAY 26, 2024
Просмотров 1773 месяца назад
We picked Schubarth Trail to drive this Memorial Day weekend. We know it’s not usually crowded and it’s a beautiful scenic trail. It is an easy trail with the exception of section 313 which has a few rocks to climb. Pikes Peak is still snow covered and provided a great backdrop for many of our views. Some of our favorite trails are still blocked by snow. As we were finishing lunch on the trail,...

Connie and I arrived back in Colorado Springs from Arizona for the summer. This Saturday we joined our daughter Karri and Mike for a trail ride. We picked Rainbow Falls trail which is located at about 9000 feet, so we didn’t have to deal with snow. The trail is scenic and easy with a few obstacles with bypasses. We had a good time and enjoyed lunch on the trail. We ended up airing up in the rai...

Our last video here in Arizona for this season. We will be heading back to Colorado for the summer. We led today’s trail ride on the West side of the White Tank Regional Park. Starting near Sun City Festival and ending near I-10. An easy ride with a scenic desert landscape. It was about a 3 hour ride which got us back to the Great Eagle Golf Couse for lunch outside on the patio.

In this video you will view our club's adventure across the BlackTop trail. This trail starts in Black Canyon City and ends on the Tip Top Mine road. Connie and I discovered this trail years ago while out geocaching. Like most trails it keeps getting harder each year due to the weather. A fun trail with some rocks to get over after the summit.

SNOOPY CANYON, COPPEROPOLIS, & CRYSTAL HILL
Nice trip. Thanks for taking us along!
OMG!!!
Green Jeep, same same state grass, I got it now.
Please don't stop on the track and eat lunch that just slows others!
No video of the mine?
Sorry, no.
Does you camera have some sort of motion leveling software.....
The camera is a GoPro 9 and it has image stabilizing and horizon leveling. It is amazing how well it works.
Beautiful area.....what kind of camera mount are you using?
The mount is a suction cup type mount bought on Amazon.
I would have tried it too
I want to do this trail
I thought it was illegal to even get to the river. Should have been a sign telling you to stop about 1/2 mile before the river???
For a while some agency put up signs about a mile from the river that the trail was closed. There are no signs now. Last year we turned around at the signs. Also, the sign that was at the start of the trail (Predator ) is now in a large dirt area, sort of like a parking lot. Like what is at the Metberry Gulch trail end, only smaller. My new trail book states "Do your part by following the rules. Don't cross the river." Tons of ATVs and motorcycles drove to the river, but no one crossed.
@@scook4112 they'll come a time when everything is closed off...... to many people trashing everything....
Out of curiosity.... is your jeep a stick or auto....
Our Green Jeep is an eight speed automatic, with the option of manually shifting. I almost always manually shift it.
@@HappyTrailsToYou yeah.... I wanted a manual but they are hard to find.... auto nice 4 every day driving but 4 wheeling I just feel more in control with manual....
Looks like an awesome ride..... thanks for the vid..
what happened with the idiot hitting you? that was fucked up ....
Real nice, thanks for sharing. cheers
I used to drive there with a tractor trailer and haul the big river rafts back to the top of the river for rafting trips.
Those Jeeps are too clean to be on a trail.
Great video - we just did this trail last week in our Bronco with our Grandson, I wasn’t expecting the Moab hill but we made it through :)
Great Trail Sam! Thanks for posting it.
Looks like a fun trail Sam👍
Looks like a possible camping spot at the lake? Any signage saying otherwise?
My kinda trail
Thank you to share! I’m gonna try this trail in the next week !
Lovely trail and a worthwhile flex for your suspension!
Great trail and beautiful scenery. Thanks for the video.
So Sam, why do you pick such easy trails?😂 Is there going to be anything left of your Jeep by the time you guys head South? Fantastic driving getting through those boulders. -Dick
We have drove trails every week for the past 5 years with this Jeep, to include Colorado, Moab, and Arizona. This past week has been costly. We replaced all eight control arms with TeraFlex Alpine TR, and yesterday replaced front shocks with Fox Shox. The bushings are wearing out, My bushings are wearing out also, :) We are lucky to be able to 4-wheel all year long.
Cool!
Excellent video! Thinking of doing this trail in the Fall and this is the most up-to-date video of the trail conditions. Loved hearing the engines and the trail sounds and that there was no music to obscure those sounds!
Awesome video! What gimbal are you using to film? I can’t help but say out loud how impressed I am with the float of the footage on the rocky road!
I use a GoPro 9 and it does the work. It is a great camera.
What a great trail ,how do you find these
Most of our trails are in the "Guide to Colorado Backroads & 4-Wheel-Drive Trails" by Charles A. Wells. We also use his books for Arizona and Moab.
Another beautiful trail, Sam. You guys have a great area for jeeping. It is supposed to be 109 here next week. Dick
I think it's time for you to head for the high country. Get out of Surprise.
If you're still in the area, Slaughterhouse Gulch is fun and open. Also a bit further north Kelly Flats just opened as well. Both fun trails and should be more than doable in the pair of Jeeps in the video.
Thanks. We drove Slaughterhouse Gulch last June (ruclips.net/video/3Dk6yrtxjKw/видео.html). It was a fun trail. I will look up Kelly Flats. Thanks for the info. Happy Trails To You
Slaughter trail a a blast 💥 one of my favorite trail !!! Totally agree!
@@Aldoperez1 We drove Slaughterhouse trail yesterday, twice it was so much fun.
Nice trail , beautiful area. Thanks for the video, Sam. It's been 98 to 103 here for a few days. Dick
Hi Dick, glad you enjoy the videos. It's been cool here. That high temp down there is why we come back to our home in Colorado Springs.
Not exactly 4x4 driving unless there has been a lot of rain. A lot of GC White Water rafting companies tow trailers with 13 passenger vans full of guides and 2 wheel drive out of there 5 months of the year. The Hualapai run school busses down there every day for their 'Diamond Creek Down' trips. It is pretty cool to be in the GC though!
@ 6:50 & @ 7:30 would you need front & rear lockers to climb that hill in a Jeep? Love your trail runs and just listening to the engine sound. cheers
That was an easy trail where we had time to appreciate the beauty of the desert.
Beautiful scenery and a cool trail! How are you keeping the horizon straight, though? Are you using a gimbal in the Jeep? The perspective you portray gives a great visual of the degree of roll you are encountering on the trail.
Totally enjoy all the video angles you capture. I always feel like I;m there driving the Jeep. Thanks for sharing.
Wow, I would love to wheel with people where the person leading the trip goes bye everyone saying "good morning". Now that's some good vibes:) cheers from New England
IS THIS TRAIL POSTED ANY WHERE, CANT SEEM TO FIND IT ON ALL TRAILS AND OR ONX?
This trail is not posted. Connie and I made it up years ago while geocaching. We have 20 waypoints to follow, so to many to list here. Basic route I-17 to exit 244. Work your way over to Lisa road to start dirt road at 34*05.568 & 112*09.243 The end of trail is at the upper end of Terminator trail 34*02.120 & 112*11.596 at the Tip Top Mine trail. We named it BlackTop form BLACK canyon city and tip TOP mine trail. If you use Goodle Earth you can make a route over the hills to connect these waypoints.
Great video Sam, thanks for posting it!! L&L
Where is your club located?
Our Happy Trails 4-Wheel Club is based in Happy Trails RV Park, in Surprise, Arizona.
How do you join the club. 1999 jeep tj and looking for a group to travel with.
@@phillipbentz5325 One of the requirements for membership is you must own or be a renter in Happy Trails RV Park. It was designed this way to keep the membership under control. We usually have about 40-45 families in the club each season. Thank goodness they all don't go on each ride. 10-15 Jeeps per ride is about the usual. Thank you for your interest.
I had an elk hunt here last October. Very beautiful area.
What are you driving?
Our Jeep is a 2019 Rubicon with lift and 35 inch tires.
How does a someone get to roll on one of these adventures with you all
Where's the green Jeep?
At home nice and clean :) Just decided to ride with a friend.
Hello I just sent a request to join your Facebook page. I just bought a red Sahara 2015 and it has the Happy Trails 4 wheel drive club sticker on it. Wondering if it was part of your group. Thanks.
Good morning, Our Facebook page is limited to members only. I don't know who owned your Jeep but it must have been a member of our club. Only members can buy our stickers. To join our club you must live in Happy Trails RV Resort. After two seasons at the resort you may remain in the club if you move away, with a vote of the club. We have about 40-45 members (families) in our club each year. Have fun in your new Jeep and be safe, never go alone. See you out on the trails. Sam
Beautiful drive. Was there a permit or anything needed to do this trail?
Yes, you must buy a permit in Peach Springs at the lodge. I believe they were $26 dollars. The Hualapai Indian tribe does check every vehicle on the way down for the permit. This trail is on their land.
@@HappyTrailsToYou thanks for the info, other than permit. There's no schedule? Waiting list
@@Brwnbear1985 There was no waiting list, but we were advised that rafting companies use this road to the beach to upload their rafts. So sometimes the road is closed if there are a lot of people using the road. I would suggest calling the lodge and verify the date, cost, etc. Hualapai Lodge - 900 Route 66 Peach Springs, AZ (928) 769-2230
I forgot to mention the road (trail) going down to the Colorado River is Diamond Creek Road. @@Brwnbear1985
@@HappyTrailsToYou thank you so much for the information. I greatly appreciate it
Another great video, Sam. Thanks.
Looks like a fun drive!
