Tools of the Poaching Trade: Whip-snares
Fico Vidale comes from a hunting family; his father was a professional crocodile hunter. Fico runs his safari hunting company in the Lunga Busanga Game Management Area, which borders the Kafue National Park in Zambia.
Fico spends a lot of time and money on community upliftment and engagement, and one of the projects is beekeeping. The idea is to educate the area's people about the dangers of habitat destruction, such as cutting down trees to harvest a few pounds of honey.
Poaching is a concern, as it is in most wilderness areas in Africa, and one of the most common forms his anti-poaching team encounters is the use of whip-snares. In this video, Fico explains how the whip-snare is set.

Guides Against Poaching: Poaching Corridors
Просмотров 1719 месяцев назад
Poachers based on the Zambian side of the Zambezi River upstream of Victoria Falls can easily monitor buffalo movement on the Zimbabwean side. As the herds move back and forth from the river to drink, the poachers can get ahead and lay their snares across established corridors. John Laing from Guides Against Poaching (GAP) has been conducting anti-poaching operations in this area for over ten y...

Great video!! I wish this was viewed a lot more!!
Great job! Curious what breed of horses you are using? What sort of distance/ time duration can both horses & dogs safely manage without overheating?
Is it going to continue now
Im going to visit Botswana because of the country outlawed poaching
What a pity the Botswana government bowed to clueless anti hunters and closed hunting, instead of doing a thorough study like this before making such a huge decision
I'd love to know more on the Scot management. My dad grew up on a farm in Perthshire and spent time in the hills with the local game warden, culling deer for management purposes. I was born in Australia, moved to the country 20 years ago and have enjoyed becoming a hunter, hobby farmer etc. In my state, NSW, deer have been classed as vermin, and farmers everywhere are being overrun by deer. I can't just bring myself to cull them for farmers unless i have room in my freezer, or someone else wants some meat. Venison is an epic meat. by the way, do you know what the cheapest cut of venison is? the testicles, you can find them under a buck.
Very informative documentary
Long may it continue.
Very interesting
In areas where there are no lion.... horses would be good...
Look at it's leg hehe

❤
I reposted it on several of the platforms that I use.
Thank you for such an interesting and educational video on how poachers actually choose their spots …and how boots on the ground are critical to the fight. Thank YOU for what you do and for educating people on the benefits of well-managed hunting. 🙏🙏🙏
Thank you for your support, much appreciated!
Wow I’m highly impressed by this! Kinda want to try and make one myself 😂
😢🥺🥺 sad to elephants
Amazing work 🙏

This place is very close to my heart, I used to work there and also did a couple of videos there. ruclips.net/video/lQTOB_iKESQ/видео.htmlsi=XLR6JCZnjFuNuJe7 this is one of them
i love what you are doing ,
How can one get involved in your project as a volunteer?
Hi, please contact either your local SA Hunters Branch or head office and they will be able to help you.
Thank you so much for this in depth explanation of what's happening in KNP as well as around the world. I learned so much from this. I never realized it was this bad & certainly had always thought it was about hunger. It wasn't until recently that I was aware of this illegal bushmeat restaurants. The people of SA are destroying themselves because when all the animals are gone, what will they have left? Tourism is extremely detrimental to the country as a whole & sadly the majority of the South Africans are blinded by this. With the government being involved, how is this ever going to end? I'm a veterinary medical student & at times like these it makes you want to stop what you're doing, give up everything just to help save these animals. Sadly in the Manyeleti the same is happening with snares, so not only in KNP. I commend all of the people who are joined in this fight to save our beautiful wildlife. God bless 🙏🏻

Good stuff.
Well done Eugene glad we could partake in some of your Anti Poaching Snare activities
Good!❤
Well done Pete thank you for all you do
I love elephants, it's my favorite animal, but I live on a different continent and don't have to directly deal with them. They are living with them in their own backyard. They should decide how to deal with their own wildlife, not someone in another country and on another continent. I hate people who don't have to deal with a problem directly, but want to dictate to others how they should handle it and what they should do.
They do have a body called KAZA that looks into the management of resources in this region. I’m pretty sure solutions towards human wildlife conflicts will be established soon.
Gin traps & wire snares are a nasty cruel way for wildlife to die.
Keep up the great work!
😢 rip elephant
These wildlife regions, w. not just tourism but also hunting, provide money for local communities. So those communities do not go out on their own hunting for meat or rhino horn or whatever. India has similar regions but are still struggling with locals to understand this is a money maker for them. Don't mess it up.

😊😊 please save elephant from poacher
God bless you Sir, and may he aid you in your fight against those who seek to destroy his creation 🙏
😤 poaching wrecking, population elephant across Africa, make me angry 😤
The scale and speed of the deforestation shown was frightening. Never seen anything like it.
It really is quite frightening.
One of the best documentaries about animal and human conflict. Thank you to all the contributors and sponsors. What l thinking missing is the views of those opposed to elephant control measures through hunting
Thanks for the compliment. Most wildlife documentaries are anti-hunting, anti-utilization so that side of the story has been told countless times. We wanted to highlight the pro-utilization viewpoint.
😤😡 people are trying to kill elephant broke my angry 😤 my heart
Thank...
A very good production. I am proud to be a member of SA Hunters.
Us too!
Thank you, very informative video!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great film! Proud to be part of this fine community!
Thanks!
🥺🥺🥺 save your elephant
I am so happy to see the Africans of Zimbabwe protecting they heritage culture and wildlife of Zimbabwe i am not a racist i was born in RHODESIA in SAILSBURY my father is Jewish all his family were white my mother was mixed race her mother was black and her father was white (German) my mother was born in an African tribe in the bush of RHODESIA
The Elephant population is very important in the ecology of Zimbabwe they open all of the closed areas of the boabab tree Einviroment and open all the landscape of the Savanna habitats so that all of the wildlife of Africa can thrive the thunderstorms and lighting also do the job but the population of African Elephants do the most important job
Hunting wildlife was good in the past but not today all of the wildlife is in danger of extinction because of Habitat loss and destruction of wildlife and conservation destruction and pollution and over population today you must protect what is left
I am proud to be a member of WORLD WIDE FUND FOR NATURE
