uuh, this movie doesn't come falling out of a blue sky.... I love the genre, love Indiana Jones, but there was no way in hell I was gonna watch this movie, since the get-go that it was announced to not destroy my image of him. Basically what happened is Kathleen Kennedy; who Spielberg referred to as sucking at her job even as an assistant to take notes and her only *ahum 'quality' was interrupting people..... Well THAT is the person that George Lucas left his company and legacy to. So to use a metaphor he gave her the keys to his brand new Ferrari and now he's bitching that it's Disney's fault that she comes back with it a box of scraps. She destroyed his company and all the franchises it contained, so when I saw her with both her incompetence and her activism destroy Star Wars and willow, I wasn't particularly keen on the fact their next project was Indiana Jones. Hollywood sucks since 2016 case you haven't noticed and is filled with incompetence across the board. If you want to watch a good movie, you'd have to watch YT reviews these days to not waste your time coz actual watchable movies are needles in a haystack these days.

Cool video. I totally ignored this movie until last year's Iconicon, and now I love it. It's great to hear some analysis of it. I've heard the hero's journey reference to Star Wars for years.

Well stated. I think the reason why some many movies have abandoned the hero's journey is because it is seen as "old" by modern movie makers... Mostly because they follow Robert Mckee's Story book and structure slavishly. Which IMO is overdone and overused.

I get your logic, however since this was the only Spider-Man series to properly start with Gwen like the original comic, the comic also moves on to Mary Jane. And given how Garfield is the best Spider-Man, I'd love one more turn.

I mean the only reason the Peter and Gwen relationship worked so well was because they were a real couple at the time. I personally don't need a 3rd movie because i'm not a fan of Andrew as Spider-man, I thought he was great when he was in the Suit but I didn't really buy him as a nerdy kid, He looked more like a Jock trying to pretend to be into Science to bang a girl. If there is a 3rd movie then i will watch it and i don't think they will force him into another relationship straight away but the movie could about him dealing with the grief of losing Gwen and wondering if he could still be Spider-man if he caused the death of a loved one. They could lay hints of MJ throughout the movie but i don't want to see him fall in love until maybe the end of the movie.

Thanks for this segment Matt ! My favorite childhood movie ! I was 11 when I saw it in a small theatre here in France (I guess it was the last projection week, my mother had to find the last cinema in Paris where it was still available). For years, I only had the Brian Daley novel (that I read again and again), then came the story audio cassette. Years later, during a summer vacation in England, I got the illustrated book and the OST (on a 33rpm vinyl). Then, after a while, I finally got the VHS ! But the quality was dreadful… dull colors, bad image… 4:3 ration that "cut" the image… I was pleased to see the movie again for the first time in years, but I was a bit disappointed by the VHS :-( In 2002, at last, I purchased the 20th anniversary DVD, and with a decent home video, I finally reconnected with this beloved movie of my youth ! \o/ Great memories !
