A finsl irony..Pete Kowanko, who plays Ralph,is the ONLY cast member with a possibly Polish name..😊
For all its humor, there are moments of honest and disarming sentiment too...the last scene, late night picking at Thanksgiving leftovers, then going off to bed..the narration at the fade, about Time being a grey shadow that pursues us all , but it can't take those memories, they are forever.. something is in my eye, excuse me😢
thank you for this gem.
I can so relate. From 12-15, the quest for the Polish Queen was on. On Sunday's I'd take the El and then a trolley to the Polish neighborhood and loiter round the 'other worldly' cathedrals waiting for the parade of good catholic girls to head back home and make cabbage rolls and perogies for the family nd then gravitate outside to list to their transistor radios. Beatrice, in her post church dress. Man, that was living!
You don ' t like this movie. So why you uploaded it?
Genius.
There's a much bigger story here than about Comiskey, the Sox and the Yankees. A great American and human story about class and existential frustration. Great literature and film-making. Awesome.
Bravo.
Man ,Shanter is always getting scratched on the face by blonde chicks!
The BEST version!
Shepherd frequently claimed he wasn’t a nastalgist, yet here’s one of many examples.
Loved him and the radio show on WOR.
Started watching this at 2 in the morning on a school night. As someone who was looking for pretty much anything shatner starred in this caught me by surprise and am very grateful it’s subtitled. The music is eerie and all around the film feels haunted while not scary it has a certain vibe to it that runs a chill down my spine. The kind of movie my mother would warn me never to watch or it may curse me but nonetheless a nice little hidden gem. I really enjoyed this !!
You can start listening to Jean Shepherd tell a story figuring you’ll stay only for a bit and you end up staying to the end and wishing you could listen to him forever!
My favorite ghoul of all time, miss you of all those chiller theater Saturday nites, gone but never forgotten belive me love you zackherly!!!!❤😢
Virinoj estas belaj
As a Navy veteran and a Shep fan, this just blew me away! 👍🏼🫡🇺🇸
Lots of 80s hair styles on the females. Too bad these films didnt have any money to work with.
This is to Thanksgiving what Shep's ACS is to Christmas!
S Bartman = greatest superhero ever😂😮
Yeah - Gehrig IRON MAN was GREAT.❤
Best thing about Shep was that he dis-liked nort side scrubs!😮❤
Any Trekkies who haven't seen this, filmed during Star Treks inaugural season, are missing out on a cool and obscure folk horror tale starring the man who took us to the ends of the universe and cemented Trek as a TV icon. And in a forgotten language, nonetheless. Great display of Shatners talents.
Somewhat forgotten
While it is not widely or natively spoken, Esperanto is not forgotten! There are thousands of speakers across the world and a very dedicated community for it :) it is a beautiful language
Simultaneously hilarious and poignant! So lovely, Jeannie. 💔 ⚾️ 🏟️ And so touching to read about all these shared and beloved memories.
Zacherley is The Greatest!!
Very impressive - I realize this came from the makers of "The Outer Limits" but the story could also be an episode from "One Step Beyond"
I was at game vs Red Sox in 80s. With dad and his buddy. Boggs hots foul into upper deck and dads buddy makes bare handed catch. What a moment
I went to game vs yanks in 70s. Sitting behind NY dugout. A fan was getting wasted off ass and thought cat calling Mr October was good idea. Around 6th, Reggie paused and pointed to drunk. Instant sobriety
So under rated. Comiskey was a true baseball palace none of these retro come close
reinsdorf tore it down because of greed.
I love this video. Said it all about Bill Veeck as train wreck
i dont believe this! the sox traded bullfrog for shottenheimer!
It's supposed to be a succubus , she's a female so the title is wrong . A incubus is a male demon.

"Spaco . . . la fina . . . Damn! What's the Esperanto word for 'frontier', goddammit?!"
Count to ten
An episode of The Outer Limits, directed by Ingmar Bergman.
I feel very fortunate to have seen many games at Tiger Stadium, including the final one, and visited Fenway and Wrigley. Sadly never saw Comiskey.
this is pretty bad. Surprised to see all the positive comments - just because Shatner is in it doesn't make it good!
I love this...Jean is both droll, patriotic, and very sympathetic to human beings. Something tells me AI would never be his thing.
6:45 Original stairway to heaven...
When professional sports took control of the politicians and got their taxpayer funded concrete monstrosities built for them it was all over.
Yuppy Cubs fans, lol, love it!!
Love this ballpark. Growing up in Northwest Indiana, I went to many games there with my Dad. Ahhh a lifetime of memories there.
I cruised on the Emerald Seas with my family in 1980. Was an incredible trip. Following her history I was sad to hear she was broken down for scrap steel in 2004. An amazing life for an amazing ship. I will always remember catching Jean's story on her in 1986 on break between semesters in college - my local PBS station aired this episode and it has stuck with me all these years. I'm glad to see the series preserved online.
My heart aches for the days and fireworks nights of my childhood in my baseball cathedral. Comiskey Park. (Ralphie's ) Jean Shepard's telling of his beloved memory summoned such a melancholic lump in my throat, I just barely held it at bay. Wasn't it weird how he ended that heart wrenching story with "Yup, lots of stuff happened in this great ballpark." Like, either positive or negative, the magnitude of that memory, was great. I expect nothing less from a master storyteller such as he.
I too was there in 1985, on an island smaller than most dry lake beds in California, to start a tour of duty lasting nearly five years. My Uncle Sammy sent me money every month and finally decided that after years of tropical weather I would move to the balmy banks of the Souris River in Minot, North Dakota.
Junk movie....
When Captain Kirk meets Lucifer.
