I have to respectfully disagree from a physics perspective. Bit 2 The swept back purchade delays poll pressure. It has to rotate in front of the line of the mouth to tighten the cheek. The curb slot quickens the curb pressure. The curb chain no longer has as much slide before it seats and applies pressure. Gag action does not delay curb pressure. Curb pressure happens when the shank rotates back. As the mouth slides, the shank is still rotating. What delays curb pressure is the tightness of the curb + purchase shape. A loose curb allowd more shank rotation before applying pressure. A tight curb does the opposite. As discussed before, a swepy back purchase delays poll pressure and also curb pressure. A poll that is vertical to the mouthpiece applies curb pressure quicker. Gag action also does several things. Gag action inverts the purchase to shank ratio as the shank rotates. Gag feels slower to the rider because the easy slip feels softer than a fixed mouthpiece. Bit 3 Correction ports do not give tongue relief. The port is too narrow. It is the width of the bars and rides right down on it. The joint at the bars applies a massive amount of bar pressure. Rotation compresses the tongue into the port. Wide ports give tongue relief.

So what does leverage do ? And when a shank is curved what does that do? For example, million dollar bit has a more curved shank? And what exactly does the chin strap do? Watching these videos to learn but sometimes the terminology gets me 🤣

I am so frustrated because we have horrible mud. Pasture with shelters but no barn. I can clean the hooves and pick them, but they have to go back out in it. I feel like a terrible horse owner!😭

I have only had my horse a few months and I ride her in a hackamore. I have taken her to one barrel race and her turns were really good! Do you think you can get by in a hackamore? It seems to work for her. I just don’t want to put a piece of metal in her mouth if I don’t need to because I wouldn’t love it. I do however understand that hackamores can be harsh as well. I ride an Arabian and she holds her head pretty high should I try a tiedown to get her a better headset?

Drawreins with a gag bit is very severe. Make certain you know what your doing before anyone hooks these reins up. If your a beginner I suggest free lounging your horse 1st with draw reins.

Why not STOP and then turn, your rushing it all way to much, your horse was on the muscle the whole way.

That hackamore is a sir walter by big horn. They are hard to find but if you contact a rep at big horn you can get one ordered. I also lucked out and found one in an old tack trunk about 16 years ago. Won alot on the mare that filled my permit with that hack.
