Pelican is closer to Doom than Post-Metal, and you can't change my mind. This tab is a sort of hybrid between the live and studio version, I took my favorite parts of both and put them together. The bridge section feels so good to play, especially when using delay with a long decay. You can kind of improvise this part a bit and make it your own. GEAR Yamaha THR10 on Modern PRS Vela S2

It's an interesting song to play. Not exactly difficult, but keeping the tapping clean for the whole song while changing positions up and down the fretboard can be somewhat tricky. It's an excellent exercise for practicing this style of tapping. I spent some time beforehand mapping out a general route and making mental notes of all the explosive barrels in the area. Afterwards I spent forever running around picking up all the ears. Fun stuff.

Duuude I need your amp settings
Oh man it's been so long I can't remember exactly, but I use a Yamaha THR-10 on the modern setting. Messing around just now I got a similar tone with the gain at 9 o clock, bass 11 o clock, mids 12 o clock, and highs 1 o clock. Also for the video in my DAW I EQ'd out the low end around 160hz and added a slight boost around 850hz. Hope this helps!

I could play the first minute and a half of this song with no problem. 1:31 is where the trouble starts.
Yeah the picking feels a little awkward, especially while palm muting it. Just practice it nice and slow until you get the feel of it, then try upping the speed a little bit at a time. You'll get it!

Oooh good question. Out of the songs I've learned I think Geneva is pretty easy and straightforward for Russian Circles. Harper Lewis is pretty easy, aside from the tapping section. Thank you for watching ♥

Yeah they're kind of a stretch. When they play it live I think the guitarist for the top part plays in Drop B rather than B standard so it's less of a stretch

I use a Yamaha THR10. It cost me $200 and it sounds amazing for a home practice/recording amp.
@@samichpower Fr man, I play through a Mig 50 majority of the time now and have a few other amps but I remember using a cheap crate 2x12 combo for years still got that amp I'll never get rid of it definitely needs to be retubed lol but it breaks up so well and is killer in a bedroom. My Mig 50 doesn't get turned on without an attenuator lmao

@@dieforelle1141 So the song is exactly how it sounds on the record. I just recorded my guitar over the top of that but made mine slightly louder so it stands out a bit. I also EQ'd out the low end so it fits more nicely in the mix. Hope this helps! 😃

@@bocherks Yeah it's really interesting tuning. He plays a lot in DADGAD which is popular with celtic music. I think he started there and just dropped the high and low D by a note.
Could this not be played in drop C# though? Same tuning as other songs in that album. (lower middle 4 strings by a semi-tone)
