Whenever the wind blows through the tall grass and drowns out all the other sounds of the world, I'm home.
Heck my own kids are so detached from my life as a kid born in 55. Even in my present home so much has changed from when it was first built. At one time I was flanked on two by wheat fields that were devoid of homes and Businesses. Now days there are homes, businesses, schools,and hospitals and development as far as you can see. I point out the widow and say there was nothing out there when we moved here. They just have this dumb look on their faces, hardly comprehending.
Thank you Bonnie Lynn-Sherow for this wonderful contribution to the history of the Flint Hills of Kansas. It has been very helpful to my research and contributed to my work as an historical novelist.
Very interesting, want to learn more. I great grandfather Oren Oliver Broughton was born in Clay County Kansas in 1872
