I fish the North Carolina Intracoastal Waterway around Topsail Island. I primarily fish for Reds, Speckled Trout, and Flounder from my Hobie Compass Kayak.

Lose the screwdriver and get a leatherman multitool. Nice setup!
@@mixflip I’ve tried leatherman multi tools on the kayak. I love my rebar but the saltwater rips them up pretty fast.
I like to keep some unscented super glue or skin glue and a little bit of baking soda in my first aid kit just in case I need to glue something or myself back together

Just one small point. Stainless steel is not magnetic so you would have a hard time finding them with a magnet. 😊

No, that was just the way I set it up for the video. I store it on kayak J-hooks on the wall.
Nice setup! Bailer/pee cup is great and it’s importance cannot be understated. I also keep a full size masonry sponge in my hull as well as another means of bailing.

Does the peddle system get in the way of the fly line? It's seems like stripping line and peddles and paddles would not mix well? I have never flyfished from a peddle kayak, or any kayak for that matter.
And to think I just wade for Smallmouth Bass on a 6 at flyrod.
Where's the best place to launch to fish those back Topsail creeks by kayak?
And that current is why i run a trolling motor out there on my kayak

If you see this please reply is the fishing been this year at the beach I was down at Cherry Grove 3 weeks ago and cannot get the first red fish to bite no blue fish just 8 little flounder and ribbon fish the ribbon fish for everywhere are you having the same types of things up your way
I don't typically fish on the beach side so I'm not sure, sorry. The redfish have been really good in the salt flats.
I was fishing a lot in the marsh out of the gate that's where I caught seven of the eight flounder and the ribbon fish are running like crazy in there at that time

These creeks are tricky to navigate sometimes. Great video, I got a compass coming in a few weeks, down in Wilmington.

It's a GoPro hero 8 black, just setup on a head mount with no external mic. I got the kit at Costco on sale. I've noticed the same thing when editing it, it's clear to the point that it can sound weird and picks up my breathing waaaay to clearly. I always think "do I really sound like that?" While editing the vids.

I need to get back out on the kayak. Between work, baseball mon-sat, working on go karts, and working on the boat I haven't had the time to do any fishing. Are you on the south end?
Yeah I've been fishing the south end a lot. Recently started taking the boat out into the ocean, hoping to get some spanish mackerel videos up soon.
@@TopsailKayakFishing I've always wanted to make it down that way but never have, looks like some good water. Much better than the creeks up on the north end and into the river. Less paddling too haha. Once I get the boat up and running and the baseball season dies down maybe we can get together and take a trip fishing.
I've never really fished that side. Might have to give it a shot. Looks gorgeous man.
@@southforked3233 it is beautiful, at high tide, the water is a crystal blue color since it just came into the inlet from the ocean. At low tide it's a bit muddy and brown but the sand bars make up for it.
Hey dude what creeks do you fish around topsail? Been struggling to find some reds recently I can’t find them anywhere
I have yet to get my first red this year, which is odd. Tons of flounder, blues, and trout. I typically fish the creeks on the south side of the island between banks channel and the intracoastal.
We were trolling off the south end and caught a bunch in between some spanish. They are out in force this year for sure.
This makes me want to go fishing so bad! And I don't even like fishing!! 😂
