Cairns Reef Surfers NE Arlington 2m swell, 13knot SE, mid tide falling.
Legit novelty excellence. Kudos in being there for this no doubt rare event. So exclusive to have surfed here like this one would think.
Great song. Who is that?
Imagine Dragons - Radioactive. Great song!
As in rocky point near wonga?

It gets really good really rarely. April 2014 cyclone was clean and 4ft at the top of the point running for 200m.
Hi Ryan, On a longboard every couple weeks for a days in a row in the dry season. Only gets like this video a couple times a year but I think lately there’s been years without a good short board swell. I’ve moved back Newcastle now after 5 years up there. Awesome bunch of guys up there keen to surf. The reef is place to go. Search Cairns Reef Surfers on Facebook. Darryl will add you to close group. They do day trips out the reef when conditions are good. That’s rare too.
No worries. When I first got there I was always bugging people about if there was surf. The same CRS guys surf rocky point whenever it’s on. It’s creepy for sure. Crocs are sometimes in the ocean but hasn’t been an issue there so far. I surfed it on my own heaps but worried the entire time.

Well I don't actually have Facebook but thanks for helping me out and hopefully i catch you and any other locals surfing around cairns
This is first take off point and first car park. goo.gl/maps/WiUMMnWQWmt Inside mal wave. goo.gl/maps/8k2LVNbPYqR2 The group posts about Rocky point too but these days we haven't been broadcasting when it's going to be good. Usually after. It's always bigger at the top of point but there's an inside section at the end of the wave out front of the bottom car park. It needs a low going to mid tide. Unless it's a cyclone swell and tide doesn't matter. Needs east in the swell and above 0.8m on this Palm cove cairns buoy. Basically if it's blowin and low tide it's worth checking. environment.ehp.qld.gov.au/waves/
Cheers mate, yea ill try to check out that page but just wondering where abouts rocky point is. I've been told it's just a minute north of Ellis Beach and I've also been told it's north of mossman. If you could help me out that would be great because im really keen to surf it
Yep. Plenty out on the reef if you know when to go. Check out 'cairns reef surfers' on Facebook. It's a group started by a mate. They do trips to reef and post when it's the forecast looks on. Rocky point is the best cairns spot. Breaks every couple weeks in the dry. Cyclone swells it can be epic. 200m+ rides.
Gday mate, im a keen local surfer and have only surfed Kewarra and Ratched, keen to check out rocky's this cyclone season. I was wondering if you knew any other spots I could check out. I heard that arlington and hastings are sometimes breaking. Cheers
Cheers mate. Do you surf the beach at Bingal Bay or is there a point break at the southern end?
Good to see surfing in north Queensland love to surf bingal bay again
nice work mate under water shots look excellent as well
You'll have to try and make it up for a trip one weekend. How were the mentawais
sweet robbie whish could have been there looked like a wicked day
Thanks mate. It has been good there the last three days and will be for the next four. Needs a low to mid tide incoming. Get out there this weekend while there's waves, I will be.
Awesome vid one of best local ones i've seen, I have surfed arlington a few times, I found it very fickled, might take my stand up paddle board to that spot, it looks fun, if u want to try a sup contact wind & paddle in cairns
Cheers. Found the page and requested to join. Am keen to get out to the reef. Are you guys willing to share info on any spots out there? I know ribbon reef no 2 and dynamite pass off lizard island are known spots but hard to get to from cairns. Any spots around Arlington reef?
got to get me a mal there ideal for up here
gday mate do a search on face book. cairns reef surfers. i actualy headed out there yesterday(anzac day) i have posted on the page the conditions and where we went whilst it wasnt ideal lessons were learnt and even more importantly documented for everyone check it out man
Cheers. Had quite a few days last dry season actually. Couldn't find cairns reef surfers, how do i find them. Do you know anyone who heads out there to surf.
Robbie Tyson if your still up there I had epic little fun surfs at Turtle Cove where that gay resort is and Pebbly and Oak beaches up towards Yule point. Some awesome fun sessions late 80s early 90’s🤙😊
peter stanton not there as of 3 years ago. The locals there are pretty core, given the potential threats in the water. There’s only a handful that knew when it’d be good, same faces and it’s a really fun wave when it’s on. I used to check that point off the gay resort but never made the walk in. You must have had it to yourself, besides crocs!!
@@Petestanton wow mate,I was there between Cairns and Port Douglas in early 90's on a booger, my best waves were at ratchet bay and Oaks beach Did U ever see that point break in the mouth of Port Douglas inlet? When the massive quicksilver boats used to return to port a perfect one foot wave would run down the point, truly beautiful to watch
@@lacihorvath6900 mate there were a small solid crew in tho late 80s, we all nigrated to the Gold Coast early 90's, had some epic wave, pepply beach and turtle cove were at times epic and surfed that point in a cyclone at 3-4 and broke for ages.. Great times i will never forget:)... Ratchet or "Ratshit" as we called it was our consistent home break and on occasion was super fun:)
@@Petestanton we were towing surfboards behind a small tinnie on 4 mile beach at Port Douglas doing airs on 1ft waves, had whole beach to ourselves
nice vid mate i wish that point worked more then 2 days a year its a great spot have you seen (cairns reef surfers) on face book
