Bull.... Ben, you need to adjust the TPS. The ECU is attempting to compensate for the extra fuel by raising the RPM and also try to control the engine speed by cutting the fuel. That why you have the high low RPM. The although these cars are getting up there in age, the technology was worlds ahead of anyone else. Nobody from that era had ECU that were adaptive and adjusted based on DRIVER and engine conditions. I had one E21, three E30s, an E39 and E38 and loved them all.

I would think iac , tps, cps,cam ps, may be bad. Sometimes timing can be the cause

Someone had put the wrong computer in the car. In some models the idle control computer is separate than the main brain, not so for mine. Idle is controlled with the main brain, so after a brain replacement she idles perfect.

For me it was a head gasket. 1 and 4 misfire was the codes.

Bmw 6 cylinder engines are fantastic when running ok,but once you start getting sensor problems you may as well park the car up and leave it.

i have the same civic and my light is on, because i have problems with the cat. the engine runs and everything is good just i get a code that i have a problem with my cat. u should check out what code ur getting for that check engine light

replace your o2 sensor see if that works

I just got mine running. it's just like that! I can't wait to try it out this weekend! what kind of transom bracket do you have for your steering cable? mine is missing from my boat and I am unsure of what to install. Please- any help is appreciated. Thanks

check throttle position sensor & your idle valve control. If you check this you can check your Vacuum hoses for leaks as well.
