Yielding hind quarters on a straight line
Просмотров 9414 дней назад
In this video we’re working to unlock and soften the hind quarter in preparation for lead departures and changing leads. The idea I to keep the horse walking on a straight line with his shoulders shaped forwards while we push the hip across and up #theartofhorsemanship #cowboys #horsemanship #equestrian #quarterhorse #cowhorse

Advanced flower exercise with Beau
Просмотров 11714 дней назад
In this video we’re working and advancing Beau in the flower exercise…asking and expecting more from him, particularly softness in the bridle a being soft and responsive in the turns….this I one big difference you’ll notice if you’ve seen our past versions of this exercise
Advanced roll back on the fence
Просмотров 6614 дней назад
In this video we’re moving on from the early stages of roll back on the fence and we’re getting a full stop…draw back and shape in to the turn back #cowhorse #horsemanship #quarterhorse #cowboys #equestrian
Roll backs on the fence

This is a great exercise to teach your horse to stay collected, be prepared for the stop and quick turn around, to organise their feet in a hurry and be responsive to your seat and leg.
Two tracking through obstacles
Просмотров 5621 день назад
In this video we just add a little something to keep things interesting and give the horse something to look at…adding obstacles to our exercises whenever possible can really help advance our horses through the process. In this video we encounter some resistance to the bridle towards the end and go back to working on creating softness again #cowhorse #horsemanship #quarterhorse #cowboys #equest...
Side passing over poles
Просмотров 10421 день назад
This is just a cool variation to use once you’ve mastered side passing on the fence. I find the poles are a great tool to help the horse to organise their feet correctly and helps them step directly up under themselves sideways as they try to avoid the poles….you’ll also find it’s a great desensitiser and horses that’ve never done it may struggle a little at first

The most important thing to do is reward the try Not only does it help them understand but builds a working and emotional bond Least with the ones I worked with

Less than 15 seconds into watching and its clear to see this horse is lacking groundwork basics 101. Good Job Mick, good video, well explained. We need more horsemen like you.

Such a nice and calming demeanor you have mate, your training/breaking is very methodical and the horses respond easily because you understand the equine brain. Very impressed Thankyou.

First time in the large ring, probably should not have a long strap hanging for your safety. Nice technique with the horse and with use of Holter instead of bridle. Nice job.

I’m not sure it’s that…I’ve only ever used it to ask for impulsion and never kept it up after he was moving…I think he just genuinely gets a bit stuck in his feet and mentally swings between over anticipating and almost shutting down…also working at night doesn’t agree with him… I did a day session with him the other day and made much more progress….still have to snip that longer video into shorter clips and add voice over cause the audio didn’t work for some reason…
