I was there for Smiths crash, but didn't have the phone ready - Theres an onboard from Griffin of the crash (Smith spun around him in to the crash)

while its probably more to do with the engine; if there is a minimum height then dividing the large exhaust up into smaller pipes still stands as a viable option to keep the centre of G lower. If all parts (say except control arms and brakes) must be +50mm (example) from the ground, running thinner ID pipe and more of them to compensate will allow the railes of the car to be closer to the ground IF a bigger exhaust pipe would break the rules of ride height

He's still alive! Does alot of work for PVW magazine and races in MK2 Golfs still! Hes running a Blue/Yellow Bilstein scheme on his mk2 for the 2013 season!

The have a minimum ride height to adhere to so cant go too low! The twin pipes will be more to do with the engine im guessing :)

to make the most of his flat floor (see 00:22 ) they run the car as close to the ground as possible, this is hard to do with say a 3inch exhaust pipe, so splitting it up into 2 lots of 2inch piping can mean he can go lower without hitting the ground. Those pipes might even be bigger then that but thats part of the theory anyway

It's amazing that he survived. There was no roll cage so it looked like his head and neck were getting smashed into his body (srry to be graphic) by the ground and the weight of the car.

As Harry Enfield used to say "Now. I do *not* believe you wanted to do that"... I hope the driver is okay - sadly these things do sometimes happen in races and on track days. I'm afraid it's part of the cost of having them in the first place.
