Unrealized Profits Tax. Rich people would sell off the market causing a crash. Asset like property would be more valuable. Yet Mom and Pop investors wouldn’t be able to afford as much of those assets. Also in the transaction of those asset would be taxable. Further reduce the profit ability of those assets. And less money in the economy. I think a major problem is Blackrock buying houses and being able to hold them due to tax write off incentives. According to some sources they expect 1 trilion in assets held by oversees to be liquified in order to lock maximum gains from strong dollar. In addition mag7 are incensitive to rates. Most importantly there are trilions that have been pilled up looking to lock still attractive tbond yields.
