Scav on Scav violence is at an all time high and must be addressed.
Reminder that people genuinely and unironically argue that General Revil was the bad guy for refusing to sue for peace with Zeon, despite them doing this shit.
I see a lot of comments bleating about revenge and wiping out zeon. Eff tried. Zeon fought hard enough that mass reprisals and genocide were simply out of the question for a long time. Not to mention the strategic short sightedness that comes with democracy.
Sieg Zeon
Just like KT extinction kill off the dinosaur
Yeah......Earth's response would be the nuking of every Zeon colony and outpost. It would be a war to the death if half the world's population died.
It makes it really hard to route for Zeon when this was the opening move. They had a point but they lost the point when they decided to do this
I have my gripes with the Earth Federation and their corruption and idk that they’re any better for turning a blind eye to the shit the Titans did, but this alone reassures me that a dead Zeon is a good Zeon.
The beginning of After War timeline
What episode is this again?
Found in episode 5 of The Origin OVA starting around the 29 minute mark.
So it was decided that instead of doing this again. They would just send 5 pretty boys in Gundams to earth instead.
Captain Matias Torres: I don't need it I don't need it I don't need it I don't need it I don't need it I don't need it I don't need it I don't need it I don't need it I don't need it I don't need it I don't need it I don't need it I don't need it I don't need it I don't need it I don't need it I don't need it I don't need it I don't need it I don't need it I don't need it I don't need it I don't need it **I NEED IT!!!!!!!!!!!**
"Thus began the 1 Year War, the worst war in human history" Me: Thats a bold claim, I wonder if they can pay it off. Me:.... fuck.
The earth federation knew of the colony drop why didn't they warn the public...
They have millions of people living in the city and it would take days to a few weeks to evacuate completely. It’s not that easy because of traffic and public transportation will be jammed as well.
I'm a bit surprised the federation actually had any fight left in them after this. It'd be neat to see a scene where many Federation leaders are calling for unconditional surrender to Zeon on the grounds that, if this is their opening salvo, an actual war could very well likely be too much for humanity to survive and no amount of pride or honor or fear of Zeon tyranny is worth the risk. Knowing Gundam, a talk like this has probably happened somewhere but I've never seen it.
The lore goes that the Earth Federation had considered surrender but thanks to General Revil and his iconic speech that the Earth Federation continued to fight on.
Hey Char I know we’re fighting for independence against Earth tyranny and all….but we just mass murdered an entire colony’s civilian population and dropped it onto and thus destroyed Australia…Char are we the baddies?
Char: “We missed.” WE MISSED?!?!
Billiions must-
RIP the kangaroos
I'm still amazed with the federation lack of retribution to whats basically genocide against half of the humans in earth, like, in reality, people would be out for complete extermination of zeon's people and how other side like 6 didn't fully commit to the EF cause, though, they could fear being used as another bomb
Zeon did nothing wrong
Maybe this is why Australia has such a beef with Japan and it's media.
I love the detail that all of the nation's flags are at half mast
Also take note that Skylab fell the same year as this show debuted.
WHAT VERSION OF MOBILE GUNDAM IS THIS, is it remake of the 1978 one, i want to see this one, HELP!!! @ me
Gundam the origin
Could have just use asteroid but nope let's use space colony with people in it
Because asteroid would be easy to destroyed ? Zeon choose space colonies since destroying them is hard AF.
@@Supremebro0000 i dunno man a bunch tungsten rod would have worked too
Funny how the colony destroyed everything in the pacific and the American continent, but Europe stays untouched
and after this, every single reincarnation of zeon be like "if we do exactly what we did last time, surely it'll make dem earthnoid/earthnoid sympathizer give up eventually!"
Unfortunately..it ends with them getting curbstomped.
Aussies swimming in the bay Watch them try to get away There'll be no vegemite today Super napalm sticks to kids!
How could an entire earth colony fleet not have any nukes? Or earth have sent any? Surely that would have blown up a relatively small asteroid like ship.
Think of it more of it as a physics problem. Like say you dropped a bowling off the side of a 5 story building and wanted to stop it from hitting the ground with just guns, fireworks, and some dynamite. Sure, you could *blow it up*, but those chunks are still hitting the ground. The colony is essentially a gravity guided missle, stopping it and destroying it are two different things.
@@Someonewholovesmusi1 still would of been better then letting the whole thing hit the earth i think
Australians how do you feel about this?
I think one of the funniest parts of this, if there can be anything funny, is the fact that Zeon considered this a grand failure since it missed its target. All that work and they didn't even accomplish what they aimed for (destruction of EF HQ)
Sorry but this does not make sense to me. O'Neill stations are HOLLOW, they are SHELLS. It would have rained death across the Earth but if it was fragile enough to break in three then it was fragile enough to break in three THOUSAND pieces. Zeon would have been wiser to grab an asteroid from the Belt and toss it at the Earth.
Well, colonies in gundam are made of strong material to survive re entry.
@@Kira22558 But that does not give them the MASS to hit like a dinosaur killer.
To be fair, origin remake doubles the scale, in original 79 anime, all colony did was just annihilating Australia.
And this isn't even the last colony drop. Earth gets rocked by 2 more because of Operation Stardust and the 1st Neo Zeon War.
Also almost destroyed by axis.
Tfw I just started Gundam from G-witch and find this clip by accident.
Welcome to Gundam Proper, enjoy the Warcrimes!
You started with the Worst Gundam Series - literally. Watch Gundam 00, IBO or Gundam Unicorn if you want to watch a proper Gundam Series.
I would just like to say that Zeon went on to do more colony drops and an asteroid. Safe to say that everyone would be better off without Zeon.
Dirty spacenoids
With ships still in space, I'm pretty sure a nuclear counter would have been in order.
Smug ass Ghiren Zabi did not take into consideration the the Power of a an extremely pissed off Lt. South Burning and the Immortal 4th MS Team...
This squad did so well at solomon.
zeon does a miniscuel amount of trolling
We do a little trolling.
This pfp....oh hi gilles.
And after all that effort, they still missed.
They Almost succeeded if not Federation's attempts to stop them.
Quite honestly but the Zeonites can go burn in hell after this if i was on Earth for that matter and survived id say either the zeon can surrender or be destroyed.
It was accident...it was supposed to hit federation base.
@@Kira22558 but the fate of the people living inside that colony won't change and even if they did succeed South America would have the same fate as Australia.
2:46 woah, the flags are all at half-mast. That's a really cool detail.
and earth's population too!
That metal right here
Hmm, 5 days for the colony to reach earth, how much of the Australian subcontinent was evacuated?
Probably only 4 million at best i guess.
Tianmen fleet got caught by surprise, so maybe only one/two day/s
This was Zeon at the peak of their power. Too bad it's all downhill from here when they let Revil go
They wouldn't have to tell anyone who survived this to get in a robot, they'd have to fight them off from trying to steal them to get vengeance.
Zeon did nothing wrong. In real life Australia is an Authoritarian Country and I would argue when the first Space Colony is operational in 2027 we recreate Operation British
well this proves you are a sociopath
As someone that saw the Original Series and read some material from the internet reguarding it, the Colony Drop originally just rendered Australia mostly uninhabitable. But the rest of the half of Earth's population was killed in the ensuing Nuke Exchange between the Principality of Zeon and the Earth Federation. Which led to the Antartic Treaty that ended up BANING the use of nukes in the war, as well as any more frigging Colony Droping. (Not that that would stop them for long.)
It is important to note that Origin as well as most supplementary material is not technically cannon. The colony drop would have absolutely been enough to kill all life. Gundam has multiple different takes throughout the extended UC universe that often conflict with one another. Stardust Memory has one of the most full breakdowns of the aftermath of the colony drop and its math is so far from possible that its clear even the 'mostly' cannon content is wrong on the science of it all.
Where can I watch that movie? Title too?
