It most likely happened cuz you had the bike sitting idling too long. These bikes aint made to run sitting still. Gotta keep air moving thru the radiator

Try starter fluid if it starts it’s your pump you should prime it a few times then turn key and you can also hit gas tank with mallet or hammer just to move the pump and it might work

I also have the 6th gen 2SS. The problem with my rpm gauge disappeared after replacing the starter. I wrapped the new starter with a heat shield blanket. My old starter broke due to the known heat soaking issue. I could barely start my car when the engine was warm. I can't say for sure that the starter heat soaking problem was the reason of the rpm gauge problem I had.
