Mushroom Heaven - Foraging Tasty Matsutake Pine Mushrooms
Просмотров 5237 месяцев назад
The best eating mushrooms in my opinion are matsutake pine mushrooms. They taste great stir fried, in soups or grilled. My brother Seth and I venture one last time on a brisk cold day before Thanksgiving to bring home these delectable goodies. #foraging #ediblemushrooms #matsutake #hiking #mushroom #pacificnorthwest

It's ," my nephew and I"..but I have a lot of these ...plus the bay bolete...they are all growing close to each other. I wonder if there's a way to preserve them...dude, the music is very annoying....good video otherwise.
I’m just a frozen caveman lawyer and not keen to your superior knowledge of the English language. 😅
Amateur hour 😮
Yes, maybe could have been quicker and efficient, but he did get the job done. Thanks for the comment and watching my amateur fishing channel though. 😊
That looks so cool.
Yes, getting free bait is the best way.
Move slowly
Yes moving slow is best, probably walked past many mushrooms. We can’t wait to hit the mountains again in another two months.
above the dam?
Just a couple thousand feet from the Dam
@@pnwf above or below lol
Below
Please share the location, I would like to try one time only for the fun. Thanks
Smelt dipping happens once or twice a year around March on the banks of the Cowlitz River in Washington. You’ll have to visit wdfw.wa.gov to see approved smelt dipping dates. You’ll need a Washington fishing license to participate in 2025 seasons and further on.
@@pnwf Thanks a lot bro. See you there next year!
You’re very welcome
This made me subscribe man FISH ON 👍👍
@jaredacosta2834 Thank you for checking out some videos and subbing.
Where is this area
Columbia River, Washington!
Gal was throwing a Wicked Lure!
Yes she was
Looks like fun! I've fished for shad before but never on a boat!
Fishing on the boat is much more fun. All you need is to know how to safely anchor within the fast current.
This was definitely an epic video bro! I need to join you one of these days!
Most definitely!
Great job 👏🏼
Big thanks
Which jetty?
@emtae3 North Jetty Cape Disappointment
You got new sub, man! Love your content 😊 Will be there with my son this weekend trying a luck! Then will catch some shads too ))
Thank you, should be lots of Shad. It’s great for crab bait or pressure cooking.
Wow. So interesting to watch. 😮
Glad you enjoyed it
Love your channel best of pnw!
Wow, thanks, glad you enjoyed it.
Beautiful walleye
Many many thanks
When you've been going to this specific beach, "Benson beach" it is miraculous to see it in all its different stages. It's absolutely profound the change a beach head goes through in just 20 years
I’ve been going to this beach for many years. It’s a beautiful beach! Cape Disappointment is my favorite place in Washington. There’s so much to offer. You have hiking, crabbing, razor clamming, salmon fishing, rock fishing and surf fishing. It’s still even beautiful when the king tide comes in. You get to watch the power of the waves hitting the rocks and cliffs. ❤
What’s this location?
Seaside, Oregon in this video
Nice catch n release 😮😮
Catch it again when it gets bigger.
Please take the rod away from her
Maybe we do baby steps because she scared to touch the live fish. How about a small net nearby to scoop it? 😄
What scent do you use
No scent at all is required, just plain old oiled canned tuna wrapped into a ball using soft spawn netting and stretchy string.
Boo-yah!
Counting the days until I catch another Springer! Thanks for watching.
I would have been done 10 times faster with less mess with a spoon.😂😂
Works better for fish that have tough scales such as walleye.
@@pnwf Awesome. If you like it, then I love that you are happy. 🤝
This recording was the first time using the fish scaler. Yes it does make a total mess. You definitely have to use it outside and on fish with tough scales. Thanks for watching and commenting. I’ll be attempting to catch some Springer Salmon here in Washington in a few hours. Wish me luck!!!!
@@pnwf Best to your channel 🤝
Please cover the holes up when you dig them up. Thank you.
That happens so much down there. Guy next to me hooked up and got the fish in the net he starts yelling hey thats wild and the guy with the net was really confused by that
Spring Salmon fishing is just around the corner. Thanks for visiting my channel. We will be doing more boat fishing this time around.
Oh nice
Oh thanks
Do you salt them to use later on and they are firmer to stay on the hook better?
We sometimes tie stretch string on them to the hook. It all depends if the bite is hot or not. Here’s a clip of me baiting shrimp to the hook. ruclips.net/user/clipUgkxlpMRywbo2VJgcZDknRLDJUkkZVyOSdpR?si=_YzhgSeFl1Xfzt_q
Nice channel! This year's pine mushroom harvest was insane.
Yes it was, let’s hope this 2024 season is just as good or better!
Woah!!!!! That is GORGEOUS, seafood pizza?! Genious! Could you do that with muscles?
Yes, muscles would be good too.
You will have a bit more luck angling top of your clam gun toward ocean. If you cut the legth down a bit it leaves less airspace and creates vaccuum faster and pull up more sand.
That sand in Newport, Oregon is so hard. It’s so much easier to dig near Seaside / Long Beach areas. Thanks for the tips and watching the video.
@@pnwf I noticed in Alaska they don't lay straight up, with slight angle on gun I broke less of them. Never tried hard digging like that and it don't look fun. Short gun works slick in soft sand and more often than not bring them up first pull. Never claimed in Oregon but gonna try it soon.
How do you keep so many shrimp alive for live bait?
Keep it cool on ice, although they do deteriorate fast. Use them up fast or give them away to other fishermen when fishing limit is achieved.
Tuna balls can be explosively productive while plunking experiment with different spin glow patterns. At time can be way more productive and much cheaper then shrimp or drifting eggs.
Yes Chris, It totally is less expensive and more convenient to use tuna from a can then eggs or shrimp. You are also right about the spin n glows. These salmon like to bite on different patterns and colors on many occasions.
@@pnwf happy new year and tight lines brotha!
What would really be interesting would be if you spent time telling us what to look for to find them, and how to identify them I am not spending my time wisely if I just watch two people in the woods collecting mushrooms. I want to know what to do.
Please check out the video to it’s entirety. We provided lots of tips.
Wow!!
Looks so much fun!
Motherload??
Yes, the mother of all mother loads!
Nice tool….
That looks so delicious, delightful and fun!
Yes it was so fun!
loved this vid man - keep it up!
Glad you enjoyed it, thank you!
Bro the crab look 🔥🔥🔥🔥
So good
Wow that’s a big crab can’t wait to go crabbing 🦀🦀🦀 very excited !!!!
Me too!!
Wow…lots of big one. Which area you went? Around GPNF? Do you think it’s still good to go? I want to take my mom there tomorrow but afraid to drive up if it’s too much snow. Or do you have any area you could suggest? Thank you 🙏
It’s snowing now, seasons over. It’s best to wait until next year.
@@pnwf thank you very much 🙏
Ive literally sat on my bucket on dunes a foot away from a nice big button matzi and never saw it!
Everyone hunting Matsutake had the same experiences in the beginning. Check out my other videos and you’ll learn to spot the bumps and ways to identify them.

Yes we do fill them
Doesn't take much to entertain simpletons.
Yup, lighten up and have a little laugh.
1. Its not pooping, it's female and they urinate this way. Following her is a male deer, most probably looking for mate and checking her urine by smell if she is on heat. NATURE...
