A Pot for my $5 Literati Style Bougainvillea Bonsai
I bought this Bougainvillea for $5 from my local nursery. Half of it was dead so this is what I’m left with. Thought it might make a nice, small Literati style bonsai tree.

this tree still alive ? that was alot of roots ya cut off
Yes! Sure is. I can’t post a pic unfortunately but it’s still in a growing pot. Trunk is about the size of my wrist.
This has happened to me too many times to mention.
you had to repot it without pruning it, let it recover and when the plant was fine set it up. It happens to me too sometimes that I don't have the patience to do things calmly and some of my plants die.
I agree, did too much all at once.
35 years ! Damned... I'm not sure I'll be alive if I start now. 😆 Anyway. It's very beautiful. 👌🏻
Nice program bonsai, thank you for sharing good luck Mr
breathing in the dust from the perlite could kill you, always use it damp.
Thank you so much for this amazing video! Could you help me with something unrelated: I have a SafePal wallet with USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). How should I go about transferring them to Binance?
It recovered really well. Even noticed that it back budded on the large trunk. I really like the red trunk contrast.
Please oil the scissors. Nice tree, it looks like you’ve put a lot of time into it.
Must say I am a fan of these azalea
Grand old trees
Good to see another Aussie bonsai channel!!😊
Thanks mate!
👍👌
I have one I did two years ago, still doing well, with summer on it's way I put it in deep a saucer that holds plenty of water because it is a very thirsty plant. Looking forward to an update in the future.
Thanks for the tip! I’ll be sure to do the same. Didn’t realise this.
😍😍😍
Hello from Ukraine! This tree seems to have a lot of potential and an interesting artistic image, so I sincerely wish you to reveal it to its fullest. Your first step on this path was very successful. Good luck!
Hello! Thank you so much. This is an Australian Native tree, not very suitable for bonsai but I’ll try my best and be sure to update!
@@NBBonsai I think the fact that the tree is Australian just adds to its extravagant charm and exoticism. This is an interesting creative challenge and in the future it can become an extraordinary specimen in your collection. Once again, I wish you inspiration and interesting experiments!
Nice material
One year later, any update on this particular plant ?
Hi, yes still going strong! I will be doing a video soon to expose some roots. Please keep an eye out for that.
👍👌
👍👌
Thanks mate!

Me too! Please post pics of your progress!
I love Ueno Green Club. So many cute affordable bonsai for beginner.

I really, really enjoyed this tour of the show!! Your camera work was spot on! I loved how you came up from the base and ran the camera right up through to see the canopy from underneath!! Excellent! I did have to slow it down to half speed as you were kinda fast, but I just slowed it down. I also love how you showed the entry cards!! I loved being able to see the species and age!! Just loved it!! Thank you for all the work you put in here!! That was fabulous!
You’re very welcome! Glad you enjoyed it, thanks!
These aren't pines. I'd like to see the proof that you made these actually work for tridents instead of jumping on the band wagon of throwing everything in a colandar with zero actual proof...
Never said they were pines mate. Happy to do an update video in a few months too. Thanks for your input though🤡
@@NBBonsai Never said you did and not your "mate"... Nice try at a diversion though: This is an established effective technique for pines and not really anything else. 🦨
Good idea putting the root spread on a foam block, easy to fasten the roots with the wire, please do an update,we are all learning all of the time.
Thanks! Will be sure to do an update.
What components are in your soil mix?
Equal parts vermiculite, perlite and peat moss.
I use these colanders and have had great reaults. Please do an update kater in the year. It's coming towards the end of our summer here and I'm so jealous that your spring is about to begin!
Will do! Thanks for watching
Nice program bonsai Javanese maple thank you for sharing good luck Mr

Can I move an Italian cypress into a bonsai pot at the present time, or is it dangerous for it?
I would wait till the start of spring to repot.
Nice one🎉
Thanks!
Great work
👍🙂
Novice enthusiast here, seeking enlightenment and not offering criticism. I have questions. Why would you defoliate a deciduous tree, especially so close to the time when the tree thinks it should be done? Major pruning and defoliation must distress any tree and I would have thought it was better to do that in the growing season when the tree was better able to cope with stress?
Hi Roger, Defoliating a deciduous tree is probably not necessary but it's going to lose all its leaves anyway. Defoliating helps to see the structure while pruning. If you prune Maples at the start of the growing season, they tend to lose a lot of water from the cuts, this will weaken the tree. Maples should be pruned again mid summer when the first flush of growth has hardened off.
@@NBBonsai Thanks
👍👌
Job well done
Thanks!
Awesome tree!! 👌 👏 👏 👏
Some good bends 😅
Thank you
Why the need to repot this Olive? Would it be best to leave newly collected Olives alone for a couple of years and not disturb the roots?
Repotting bonsai thank you for sharing, nice bonsai
Thank you!
I had similar issue. Lay pot on its side and gently rinse the soil out with a hose. I love Ports so much. Have tons of them. They grow ferociously here in South Africa

nice! my little lemon seedling failed this year.
