I'm Andy, the Palm Springs Linguist. My channel is my creative outlet where I explore topics such as Disneyland history, theme parks, languages, linguistics, movies, travel, and much more.
In my past lives, I worked at Disneyland for 10 years, earned a degree in Linguistics, was a bilingual teacher, and led language development for a school district.
Nowadays living in Palm Springs, I play tennis every day, travel the world, go to national parks and theme parks, and research Disneyland history and language to make these video passion projects.

Woke up today thinking “English has no present tense.” I tried searching for similar opinions but only found arguments over the future tense. You explained both arguments and convinced me.

And when a ride breaks down it is called an in show exit
@@VampMerc That must be newer. I was a cast member on the attractions from 1986 to 1996 and never heard that before. Good one!
@PalmSpringsLinguist I know it is not brand new because it has been mentioned in every single TPM vids Disney Breakdowns and Malfunctions, and they have been going on for the past few years but I have heard it a few times before watching his videos and I started watching stuff like that around 2019 so it is possible that it could have started before then but I know that if you Google when they started to use it nothing comes up

"Hexo-" It's the shape "hexagon". "Circ-" Obviously "circle". "Qua-" "Square". "Triangulo-" Easier than pie, this is "triangle". "Tango-" it's supposed to be "rectangle".

I've always found it strange that people keep naming their kids Jesus here in Mexico. My pastor's name Is Jesus 😂 we refer to him by his last name

In the US Midwesterners are the most neutral users of English. Many of the news reporters are trained to talk in a "midwest" accent.

The nostalgia is overwhelming to me.. I can almost smell the air in there.. my entire family would have that song in our heads for a week after going there.. Even as a kid, this was my favorite ride(I guess) at Disney…

@PalmSpringsLinguist No, it's not. The proper name is Aluminum, the English decided they didn't like the name and changed it. They are pronouncing it wrong on purpose. This isn't regional drift, they consciously did it despite knowing its proper name and pronunciations. Same deal as the soccer/football controversy. Thing is, they aren't the arbiters of English, they don't get to randomly change names and pronunciations. So, I reiterate, one is correct and one is not. Just because you and your friends call rabbits foxes, doesn't make the rabbits foxes, or you right. Just makes you ignorant.

seen them all many times over, not really obscure by any means to most people over 40, under 40 though some definitely would be lesser seen.
