Mount Siyeh, Glacier National Park, Montana [4K]
#mountsiyeh #glaciernationalpark #crackerlake #montana
Mount Siyeh is located about four miles northeast of Logan Pass in Glacier National Park. It is the fifth highest peak in the Park, one of just six peaks in the park over ten thousand feet in elevation.
The mountain was named by G. B. Grinnell for a Blackfeet Indian, "Sai-yeh," who was described as being so recklessly brave that after a time none of his fellow tribal members would go with him on raids against the enemy. In Blackfeet "Sai-yeh" means Crazy Dog, or Mad Wolf.
Getting to the summit via the Piegan Pass trail, includes 7 miles and 4500 ft vertical gain from Siyeh Bend. Passing the fork toward the Siyeh Pass, there is a meadow....

Jade Lake, Marmot Lake (solo day hike), Alpine Lakes Wilderness, WA [4K]
Просмотров 1,6 тыс.2 года назад
Jade lake is one of the spectacular alpine lakes in Pacific Northwest, caused by run off of Lynch glacier. As the glacier melts, water flow carries down glacier slit or rock flour which is very light and stays suspended in the lake water for a long time. The sunlight reflection off these particles is what gives the lake it`s spectacular turquoise color. This is a gorgeous hike with steep inclin...
Mount Hood Winter Ascent (via Pearly Gates), March 2022 [4K]

Climbing Mount Hood in winter, really takes on an elevated seriousness and requires technical climbing skills. The upper portion of the climb is steep snow and ice with high consequence runout. Trail breaking, steep hard blue ice and high winds, all make it " a cascade classic". Unfortunately, two climbers fell in the Leuthold couloir area on the same day that we summited (March 6th, 2022).
