Triumph TR250 Restoration
I'm back down at my brother's house working on the TR250. The left front caliper had sprung a leak, so I purchased a brake rebuild kit and replaced all the rubber parts. I think it was the small O-ring between the halves that was leaking. We will bleed it tomorrow and we will see if that fixed it.
My brother spent the day working on his friend's truck. He is going to paint it and has part of it done and the cab is in primer waiting for the weather to get better before he takes it to another friend's body shop. The same body shop we painted the TR250 at.

Today my brother and I finished installing the convertible top. The front seal was a pain as usual, but it begrudgingly went in. My fingers are sore to prove it. So, this will be my last end of day video this trip. We got everything accomplished that I wanted to do, got a new fuel pump in my 1996 K1500 and the convertible top on the TR250. Looks like one more trip for the interior and its job d...

We got a late start today so we didn't get as much accomplished as we would have liked. We didn't get the side snaps on, but we did get the front of the convertible top glued to the underside of the header and we attached the front seal brackets. Not looking forward to putting that seal in. Granted we did spend a fair amount of time watching glue dry and drinking beer. So it's not all my fault....

Today we worked on getting the convertible top glued to the front header rail. it took us a couple of try's but we nailed getting it centered and taunt. Another major milestone for our little TR250 it is getting very close to the end.

Today we got the convertible top glued to the back brace and installed the tonneau cover snaps. I also got the top frame bars located on the webbing. My brother spent some more time getting the window gaps just right. Tomorrow we will glue the front of the top to the frame and install the rest of the clips...at least that's the plan lol.

The plan for today was to put the convertible top on, but we decided to adjust the window gaps first. Since it would be easier to adjust the channels for the seals at the top of the window with the top off. It turned out to be a lot more difficult than I imagined. There was a lot of minute adjustment to get it as near to perfect as we could. One of the issues we ran into is the passenger window...

Im back down at my brothers house to work on the TR250. But the first project was to replace the fuel pump in my 1996 K1500. Its been getting hard to start and a pressure test verified I had low fuel pressure. I first tried to tilt the bed but the access was limited and neither me or my brother were able to bread the fuel lines loose. So we decided to drop the fuel tank. That certainly my repla...

Today is the end of my trip this run. Didn't get a lot done since we don't have the web back from the upholsterer. I put the window seal channels on the driver's side and inserted the seal and I glued the velcro to the passenger side. We covered the car up before I thought to make this video, but you get the idea.

Today it was my plan to put the webbing on the convertible top frame. When I opened the package containing the webbing I had the unpleasant memory of the webbing not coming with the pockets for the pins sewn in. We then drove to a marine/upholstery shop and they said they could sew in the pockets but it would be next week before they could do it...sigh. When we got back I put the velcro side pi...

Today was a lot of tedious time-consuming work. I had purchased all new hardware for the convertible top latches except the pins. When I went to take the old latches apart the screw that holds the lever and pin together was severely corroded. I used an impact driver and ended up breaking the tops off the screws. I drilled and tapped the pin and got a new screw. 3 hours later they were on the co...

Today I put the driver's door cap on and installed the inner and outer window seals and also installed the outer seal on the passenger door. Even with the tool it was still a bit fiddly. Not my idea of fun... My brother tried to make a cover for the angle drive that goes on the transmission tunnel. He tried first with aluminum but wasn't able to get the curves quite right so he going to give st...

As you know the speedometer was defective. So I got a good used one off of eBay. I hooked it up to cable and jacked up the rear of the car and started it and put it in gear...nothing. So we started to backtrack it from the speedometer since we knew it was in working condition. I took the inner cable out and it was good. I took the angle drive off and we took it apart and it was good. That just ...
Amelia Airport Car Show

I went to the FOFA (Friends of Fernandina Aviation) car show today. It was on the tarmac of the Amelia Island Airport which was surrounded by airplanes. They had around 180 cars at the show and it was a pretty nice day for August in Florida. The proceeds went to a scholarship for Fernandina Beach High School Aerospace Club.

Today I installed the rear side cards and punched the holes for the convertible top frame and the seat belt bolt. I also installed the rear deck card. It came out looking great. This is my last video for this trip, I'll be back in a few weeks and we will probably install the top.

Today I installed the passenger side wheel arc covering, it turned out great. I then started to work on the rear side cards but ran out of time. That will be for tomorrow. My brother put the drivers door rear view mirror on which took some fabrication since you are putting the flat surface of the mirror stem on a curved door surface. He also tinkered on the seat release lever since the return s...
Yes sir! The final push.
That is the plan...but we all know how plans go.
Dot 4 or 5 fluid?
Dot 5
Man these guys are good.
Thanks, we just try and do the best job we can.
Beautiful colour!
Very nice! Where did you buy the top from if you don’t mind me asking?
Its been so long ago I dont remember which supplier I got it from. It was either Roadster Factory or Rimmer Bros.
Beautiful job
Maybe one more visit and you will be done!
Thats what im thinking.
Looking great. Let’s see the engine compartment.
Yep, that seal can be a pain…
Aw !. Just like my first car...
Looking good! Elin at Rusty Beauties used a steamer to relax the wrinkles after long term storage.
My ex-wife had one of these. Nice little car but it seemed to always know how much extra money we had in our bank account. I have not seen her or the car in 45 years. I know that she croaked a few years ago, no idea what became of the car. Maybe this is it-who knows.
My mistake Laurel Green
Cheftush I think it’s very close tie with Valencia Blue and light tan or tan but that’s a beautiful combination. I have a 69 TR6 emerald and light tan.
Are you guys scratching the paint. You need to protect it as best as you can
Were doing our best to keep from scratching it. It does stay covered when we are not working on it.
One of the best colour combinations out there.
Totally agree, and I usually don't like green cars.
Your car is a beauty
Nice
250 looks great, very classic: it never looks bad !
and by the way...your 250 looks fantastic ...oh I am so jealous!!!
Thanks
Got a question....can you be specific about the paint on your 250? Exactly what color and brand? Clear coat too? I've got a TR4 and want British Racing green but see that there is triumph racing green, conifer green, etc. And the body shop I'm using mentioned 2 different brands they like. They did say base plus clear is definitely preferred as it is much easier to repair in the future.
We used PPG possibly Deltron. Its a custom blend so ill list the tint and amount in grams. The amounts are for a gallon. 1678 1408g, 642 576g, 1676 563.2g, 646 384g, 1683 211.2g, 1689 1094.4g. Hope this makes sense. Its base coat clear coat.
We originally were going to use Sherwin Williams Triumph Racing Green but decided to go with this custom blend which is very close to the Sherwin Williams paint we were going to use.
@@timmoore9956 Thanks!!
It’s the best color combination for sure
Weren’t you goin to slow to engage thecOD
What silver did you use the brand
Looks amazing
It would have been nice to see how you did it
The TR250 is a beauty!!
@jimconklin8040 thanks.
Looks awesome
Looking good! Way back when I had a BRG TR4A. Fun and beautiful cars!
I'm always amazed how huge American garages are. In UK double garages are only for the mega-rich and what single garages there are are barely wide enough to open the car doors. You have to squeeze yourself out with only inches to spare taking care not to bang the edge of the car door on the garage wall. You guys are so lucky :) BTW the car is looking good.
Thanks. My brother had the garage built in his backyard.
It’s really looking nice !
Thanks
Great car Tim . Love the condition of floor
I suppose you will be removing the rear interior panel to glue down the carpet center section, and to fit the carpet for the rear deck. So now we have to wait weeks again to see what gets done?
Depends. There is a small gap beneath the rear card that might allow me to slide the jute and carpet underneath it. If not, removal of a couple screws and Bob's your uncle.
Beautiful car, beautiful restoration. I always appreciated how they positioned the ignition switch on the plinth instead of fumbling under the steering wheel
These short daily updates are cool. Love seeing the progress.
Glad you like them!
Slow going, but looks like you are doing it right.
Ya, were not in any hurry so were taking our time and doing it right.
@@timmoore9956 You cannot be slower than I am. It is 7 years+ since I started on my TR6. Winters are too cold in the garage, summer too hot and humid. Spring was a no go because of a hernia, fall will be I am out of town until November. I have everything I need but free time!
@@jimconklin8040 Thats quite a few obstacles you have to overcome. Best of luck on finding the time.
Looking better and better!
looks great bro
She looks fantastic! You are doing a great job!
Thanks Jim. We are nearing the end of the road. Its been a long journey.
How long have you both been at it ?
@tomtugboat 5 years. We took a year off during covid and my move to Florida.
Do you have a target selling price in mind?
It will be going on Bring a Trailer when we're finished.
Is the car going to be for sale?
Yes it is.
Yea, this is the one I wanted to see! Nice job!!!!
Great job!
Nice! I was really stressed out taping, masking and painting my stripe.
I agree it is stressful. Even being careful it seems until it’s unmasked you just don’t know how it will come out.
Looks great!
Very nice job
Had one. Loved it. Best of luck with yours.
How was the first test drive of the new diff?
I made of video of the test drive. Here is a link ruclips.net/video/GQ4hqdQTTUQ/видео.html But to answer your question, the car drives smoother and quieter than it ever had.
Agree !
Looking forward to the unmasking!
