This is straight from Scripture and is not about the governments actions, of which they'll answer, but the Christians response and responsibility to the government.

Hey Jacob, A.J. from the video. Thanks for the comment. I'd think in our current climate this dialogue is completely necessary. What makes it more necessary is that it's Scripture and the whole counsel of God is necessary for instruction, correction, reproof, and the building up of the saints.

Hi Susan, A.J. from the video. Thanks for the comment. Correct, you only shouldn't submit when the violate God's Word or Forbid what God's Word commands. In other situations, the Christian's responsibility is to submit, knowing that it is God who will take vengeance -- not us.

@pauldraper-zz6nk, Hey it’s AJ from the video. First, thanks for the comment and starting the discussion. I understand where you’re coming from but you’re watching a one-minute section of an hour long teaching. If God is sovereign-which is unequivocally taught in Scripture-then yes oppressive governments even fall under that purview. The issue is not their authoritarianism, but the Christians response to it. The Christian should submit to their governing authorities in all things that do not violate Scripture or forbid what Scripture commands. Constellations, great thought and question, thanks for asking! The call to repentance is a by-product of a rightful understanding of who God is, His holiness, and our sinfulness in light of that. Correct, Jude says they believe and tremble, but there is no repentance for them. God's grace is amazing because it is offered to us -- even amid our cosmic treason -- and available for belief. We are sinners; God is holy. Therefore, to be saved the requirement is confession of Jesus Christ as Lord and belief if your heart that God raised him from the dead, which will lead to repentance because God cannot abide sinful man. Yet, that repentance cannot be done through any work of the law or cleansing ritual, it is part of our sanctification and, as we've said throughout this series, required preaching the gospel to ourselves daily.

Hey Little Johnny, thanks for the comment. Obviously, we're going to disagree here since we have valid historical proof of the existence of Jesus. Jesus claimed to not only be the Son of God, but God Himself incarnate. Based on that, C.S. Lewis claimed that because of the claims of Jesus you have three options: He's either a liar, a lunatic, or He's Lord. I guess we all have to make that choice.

Donald, AJ from the video. A clarifying question if I might, are you suggesting we all experience God’s effective grace and all will be saved? I grant you that common grace is experienced by all through the air we breathe and such, and mercy experienced that God’s patient forbearance allows for repentance. However, His electing grace that justifies us is not given to all, but to those to whom He’s foreloved, predestined, justified, called, and will eventually glorify.

@@AJReilly Blessings AJ Not sure I understand all of your terminology well enough to comment on it. I believe we miss the point when we assume that God has favorites, or blesses some more than others. This makes God sound stingy to me. We are awash in grace at all times, but never forced to accept it. God allows us to turn away, to procrastinate if you get my meaning. At some point we realize that this cold unloving version of reality we have created for our selves is a self imposed poverty that need not be so. Once we sincerely ask for help it is always given. I have been blessed beyond measure, in ways I could not have imagined. Love and blessings Brother.

Brett, thanks for the comment. I think you're right that we can't just promote a message that attracts people without fulfilling our command from Christ to make disciples. Please continue to watch the videos and note how A.J. calls out sin as treason against a Holy God. We have to repent of our sins, but our salvation is not just FROM something our salvation is TO something as well.

Kenneth - correct; a judicial declaration by the Holy Judge that says, "Christ suffered though righteous and those who should have suffered because of their unrighteousness are now clothed in Christ's Righteousness." Only made possible through faith in Jesus Christ, given as a gift to those whom God is drawing to Himself.

LoveAcrossAmerica, thanks for the comment! We appreciate the conversation. Are you suggesting that over half of the New Testament is written by a liar? In referencing Romans 3:7, you are referring to Paul's diatribe which is his method of answering objections from an imagined critic. Therefore, to claim he's a liar is a misrepresentation of that passage in particular. The entire thrust of Paul's writing is to point sinners to Jesus -- hence why it's included in the inspired Scripture and God's used it as the foundation for building biblical theology.

@valorbeacon Paul is a test from God to see who we will follow (Paul or Yeshua). Also, he didn't write over half the New Testament. If you look up the number of words he used, he only wrote about one quarter of it. Deuteronomy 13: 1-5 says to test the people who say they have come in His name. Yeshua never once used the word grace while on Earth, but Paul used it dozens of times. Also, read Revelation 2:2 , ALL of Asia rejected Paul, and Yeshua congratulates them for doing that. Hey Kedo, thanks for the comment. It’s A.J. from the video. The moral implications of justification through faith is based on God’s grace producing faith in me. Therefore the morals of it are based on the One who gives the faith not the one in whom the faith is produced. We are all sinners and our morality is corrupt. It is only through the grace of our good God and Savior that faith is possible and leads us from corruption to glory-His glory. Keep tuning in, I love the conversation.
