Is there something mentally off with the designers at Ford. The problem addressed is outrageous not to have been anticipated……..surely testing for such occurrences would have picked up on the problem lurking and the inconvenience awaiting unsuspecting Ford owners. But it’s not the only example of outrageous oversight. Attaching the spare bicycle under the vehicle to babe it exposed to the elements and in some instances have the rod holding the tire in place either seize and be impossible to remove or actually snap off leaving the tire behind on the highway and a startling and enraging surprise for the owner suddenly needing to do a tire change out on the highway. Ford needs to raise the bar on its aptitude tests for the designers it hires or the company is headed for major sales problems. This is a great video demonstrating the intelligence of the purchasers of Ford products to rise above the low level design flaws. Thanks.
I'm here because I'm trying to swap to winter tires on my wife's car. And just one lug keeps spinning. Thanks for this tutorial. More and more I hate Ford.
And the lawsuit on these Ford lug nuts were thrown out by a judge. I bet his fat ass didn't have to change a flat on the side of the road using ford supplied equipment.
What a shit show by Ford. How the heck are motorists supposed to know this until too late. Thank you for sharing, I was able to call a friend while stranded along freeway.
These lugs had me trying to flip the car over like the hulk. Pulled a muscle and gave up on the whole thing and finished putting a plug on the tire the next day with it on the car. Wish I saw this before. Thanks for the info
Thank you for video. As stated in reply to other comment my Wife and daughter were stranded and had vehicle towed home. I couldn't believe what they were telling me till I tried myself. Used info in your video and another one had to use 19.5 slip socket to get wheel off and have tire replaced. Thank you again this information is almost a breaking news or public awareness someone could be stranded in middle of no where or a storm and nothing to do.
Thank you for the help on this. Such a pain. We have a Mazda and I'm finding the Ford has many of the same design features on items such as the brakes. I'm sure this is a collaborative design that incorporated Mazda and Ford design ideas. Most likely this is a foreign lug nut with a pretty cap that does not work.
My Wife and daughter were stuck on road side end up having it towed home and told me lug wrench wouldn't fit. Couldn't believe it till I tried myself used info from this video to take wheel off. I will be replacing the lug nuts to ones with out the cover
@@dogfilms7753 I used a 19mm socket but one with 12 points. Some sockets only have 6 points. Im not sure if a 6 point socket will work since I only tried it with a 12 point socket.
Most U.S. manufacturers do this. I'd suggest buying a new set of lugnuts from your local tire store or Amszon, etc. Just don't buy the really cheap ones. They have a thin chrome plating that chips the first time you put a socket on them and they start to rust.
Having issue now I'm missed job all day going to find socket fit nowhere home depot auto zone disgusting😨😨
Brilliant design Ford. Dealing with this currently on my moms car
The Ford dealership quoted me $186.40 to replace the lug nuts.

This really is disgusting

Schizophrenia much?

So they don’t like their own fart smells. Damn tough life
Something is being cooked alive..

Thank you, man. You just saved the day and probably few hundreds that a garage would happily take for mostly nothing!
I’m literally having this issue RIGHT NOW , very frustrating! Can’t wait to get rid of this

I had the same problem yesterday. I was at it for 2.5 hours and it was raining real bad. Shame on Ford.
Ha literally my day today hence why I'm here😅
Thank you for this... tire has been flay for 3 days cause I can't get the darn thing off

I thought this might be the solution, but I wanted to be sure. Thanks for sharing. 🙂
No problem
Stranded on the side of the road right, nice video. Ford sucks
Man that sucks.
Can you do it on a 2017 ??
My guess is that ford used these same lug nuts for several years on several models.
Thank you so much for this. Saved me from a tow.
I’m stuck on the side of road now the tool is small 🤦🏻
me too
@@gabe2508 oh so sorry you had this bad experience I can't believe ford did this mistake.

"the tool is small", I feel sorry for your wife.
@@stevechance150 do you feel better you said that ?
That worked well, thank you. Follow up question, how do you get the lug nut out of the socket?
My socket had a hole all the way through so I just use a large nail to tap it out if it got stuck
@@ericsankey1980 Thank you.
I just tapped it out
Engineers sometimes need to be put into their own creations
Just wanted to clarify that you need to use a 12 point socket.
what do you mean? what size did it end up fitting in th end

6 point worked fine for me
