Akerfeldt went through some sort of throat infection or change during the early 2010s that changed his growl voice. He lost control of the highs. He doesn’t talk about that aspect of why they removed growls from the creative process and turned him off from it.

@@stebano926 other people said they changed from stage monitors to in ear and he yelled too loud or smth like that. Don't know why, or how, but sounds almost identical now to 2008.

@@allthetears7045 i think he means they're good. And Mikael has certainly stepped it up on this latest tour, giving it flippin everything. For a long while there he didn't bother as much (touring all the time is a bitch so i totally understand) and you can tell the difference.

@@kalas-kurt Of course... I haven't been there but I imagine that touring must be exhausting... and in this sense everything Mickael does is plausible... I just saw this end of Katatonia and his concert was extremely short, it left a lot to be desired .. More applause for Akerfeldt!!!
