Steps taken: - Scarify east west and then both ways diagonal. - Moved good chaff onto the bare pitch - Cylinder mower to clean up - Rotary mower to clean up - Cylinder mower at a lower cut - Surface was still fairly dirty/organic materia...

Quick renovation of three pitches at Camberwell Sports Ground with maxi rolls of Tiftuff being laid (over a week as inital turf had too much containmination). Apologies if the video is a bit repetitive/not too much action. Process - cut at 3mm - scarify three directions (legnth ways, then both ways diagonal) - vacuum up lose material - top dress low areas - turf laid - light water - roll - heav...

A brief follow up to the covers situation. Couple more tips. One thing did forget to mention is that you could mark the corner positions of the cover if they are continually being used so that way its guide for people putting down and they get to the right tightness.

Would you not try and dig it out early on?
@@dsmith9103 sometimes they creep up on you. Darwin has huge weed pressure in a tropical environment, one day you think you have a clean table and the next you've crows foot popping up. If its not on the pitch in play will generally dig out though.
Love the content
@@dsmith9103 thank you!
Nice one mate 👍
Google’s loves embedded videos on website mate- could help your website . Done mine today
I can agree brooming does wonders on a wicket, QCA did a virtibroom on the block at Carina and it's come back brilliant
In the UK we say the worst it looks after scarification the better , if in doubt do another directon 😅
Video the next process mate😊
Will do
Nightmare! Roller leak?
@@lukesimonpfiallday3868 water got under the cover.
mad chop skillz bro.
does lighting it up actually make it better. just looks like half the deck is a bbq. also maybe do it in lesser amounts.....you can always add more. good day to bowl junk leggies. most days in an Australian summer the CFA would prosecute ur ass for open flame. burn down half of the blue mountains.
@@guylooker7316 was just to get the game going. This was reduced to 30 overs a side. Team batting first made 240 odd. Chased 6 down from memory with an over to spare.
have a bowl thanks.
Do you always tarp up or only when you speculate it’s required?
@@GurnMets-i2d always mate, better to be safe than sorry.
would love to come and do some pitch prep in oz. Seems a very different challenge from Uk
Not bad to start the season. How would you go about maintaining a mostly rye grass square, especially during the summer months? I’m new to curating myself and I’m in the same boat with a mostly rye grass wicket
Thanks mate. Plan is to keep the water up, whether hand watering pitches not in use or starting the pitch in prep as late as possible in the week. Camberwell drys out reasonably quick, so am confident of starting the pitch on a Thursday morning when conditions allow. Oversowing and growth mats as well.
@@ThePerfectCricketPitch mine drys very quickly also. I’ll be following along closely to see how you do it and I’ll do the same
Welcome back mate❤
thank you!
They would pay the groundsman so much they would only use 2 peice leather balls It's happened in a certain cricket league.
Nice pitch Adam,
Can I actually buy that bat being used in the background? Sounds amazing. Please let me know.
will check and see haha
Are those bell post hill cc shorts
A foot too narrow
Nice mate. Good bounce. Most pitches have a dead spot or two. Well done.
Osac....is that you? Still mowing @ TIO ?
No guide string for track width looks wonky and not straight.. wicket looks like a typical Aussie one.. No grass Why use a Mower just wet and Roll by look of it,
Not sure any of that applies to this video Brian.
"WEAKER THAN JON MENNIE BOWLING AN OVER OF OFFSPIN"
Good clear presentation. Thank you. For hot hot days maybe a freshen up water day b4 match or cover the pitch say at noon till 3pm or hot hot hours with hessian and then light water that hessian. Thursday Friday too if hot hot and pitch is ready early. Your clipping throw down action just like my son. Question. If we have potential cracks beginning to show say Tuesday can we do a little soil filling before watering and rolling in some clippings if needed?
Thank you Kevin, much appreciated. I will use a hessian through most stages of pitch preparation in southern states due to extended daylight hours, at this level in Darwin the competition has only just moved to a requirement for covers this season, so will be using a hessian minimise dew late in the week. With the cracking, I water heavily with automated irrigation Sunday, Monday and Tuesday night so expect no visible cracking when starting preparation. Unless the deep/wide cracking has started to cause undulations along the those lines when prepared. I would first up or add extra watering times before adding soil to see if this arrests the issue. I wouldn't add clay to any deep cracking for a pitch that is being prepared for a fixture in the coming week.
Howzit, rolling with drum vibration on or off ?
never roll with the drum vibration on. besides potential for root damage to the turf with excessive movement of the clay profile, it can create undulations in the profile below the clay, depending on how it was constructed (could be sand then aggregate layer).
@@ThePerfectCricketPitch shot , I thought as much
Cool.
Nice work. We are starting to play cricket Tsitsikamma South Africa and we are taking some inspiration from your videos. We have no equipment but never mind, we will make a plan somehow
thanks mat,e appreciate your support, please get in touch if you have any questions
What about the wide lines
what about them?
How many hours of rolling would you do? Over how many sessions? Do you wet it to roll every time through the week?
Generally 2-5 hours from Wednesday to Saturday morning. In 20 to 30 minute sets, three to four per day and then a small roll on Saturday morning.
Why have you flicked the clippings back onto wicket?
Stops the clay sticking to the barrel of the roller, allows the pitch to dry out evenly and holds the exposed clay/foot holes together better.
We have 1-ton roller; how many hours of rolling in a day to produce bouncy wicket?
00n 0
How do you go with disease pressure up there mate?
Was this wicket to be used again the following weekend or put to bed for the season?
put to bed mate
I cannot believe you have the same roller as me
no longer with us that old boy
Nice looks like a road
Good videos flyndog!
Do a video about weed removing...😁
Suggest me how to make turf wicket?
This information you are providing is of a level which signifies that, you are, at best, a B Grade Electrician

What do you recommend for Brisbane Pitches that are dry, given your in Darwin, conditions are similar I would guess
Very similar mate, starting a wicket on a Wednesday afternoon is ideal for a weekend fixture.
@@johnflynn910 our pitch fell apart due to it "drying out" about an inch deep of the top broke up and left big holes on the bowling crease and back foot landing area, the groundsman seems to not be interested in looking after it any more and is just rolling a heap of clippings into the deck, its made our block like a goat track now
@@dsmith9103 sounds like yoi might not be getting consistent watering from Sunday to Wednesday. Need to ensure it gets that base moisture back in the profile after the completion of play. This is normally 20 to 30 mins a night until prep starts again aka I work on Sunday, Monday & Tuesday night with automated irrigation. Additionally there maybe a thatch or layering issue that you might want to get some core samples taken.
@@johnflynn910 I'd show you pictures of how bad it looked, but I'm embarrassed to show you how crap our deck is!!!
@@dsmith9103 feel free to send direct message them to me on the perfect pitch fb page or insta accounts mate. All wickets are recoverable in my opinion
The bowling crease to stumps.
Bro could u help measure the line from the bowling crease wich is 22 yards. How do I measure it at home? I have good space but idk how to count 22 yards?
If you have a measuring tape? Even a small one that can measure one of your strides. For me a 22 yards is approximately 24 normal walking paces for me.
66 feet wicket to wicket
What type of grass is used for cricket pitch
Couch Grass is the best for Australian or warm climate conditions.
How good is this
Who cares if it's old, u run over something it goes flat.
Which field bro Am Indian
that roller sqeaking is annoying.
