Not sure how much closure her ex thought she needed. He basically told her drunkenly that he hated what she did because of her cancer. Then left a note saying he was done with her. Then he ghosted his wife for years. He was too much of a coward to file for divorce. She had to file years later so she could move on with her life. No further discussion about their situation was needed. Her mom and her exes mom should not have told her anything on her wedding day regarding her ex-husband. That stuff is in the past and has nothing to do with the present day events. No one should have even cared he was in contact again.

I can see why MIL doesn't like her. on the one hand she says she put up with in laws because husband could get a lot of money in the will, but as soon as husband hit it big, she's like "iv always valued family but I can't stand around watch my husband be treated like shit by his parents." ummm lady. you're the text book definition of a gold digger who wanted to first ride on the coat tails of your in laws and now your husband. that's the reason delay in marriage and delay in starting a family.

My big question is why the mother didn't live with the parents to begin with. He stayed with them at times and she accepted money from them every month. How much easier would it have been if what they are doing now was done to begin with.

TBH, I admire these kind of people who can stand by their beliefs and decisions. She admits everything, even if being materialistic and money-oriented is ALWAYS viewed as a bad thing. AT LEAST she is honest, not only to everyone, but most importantly, to herself. To me, that is way better than the people judging her but they, themselves, would jump to opportunities and could do way worse if money is presented for their taking.
