He was almost 80 and did still Ukemi. Inspiring!
No! Yamada Sensei explaining that if you do a proper nikkyo then it´s imposible to resist! Look all the video and explanation!
Please Don't take this as an insult im not trying to bash your martial art. Aikido looks good and I'm not saying it's useless or anything but just watching 'this' video. It doesn't look as realistic as I thought opponents don't usually run at you arms out as i see in 'this' video. can anyone shine some light on this.
Dat is mijn leraar
every martial art has its own disadvantages and advantages. Aikido is really effective on the street, especially with more than 1 person attacking you. It's like a "soft grabbing" skill. Jujitsu is like a "hard grabbing" skill. oh btw dont forget judo :D, If I'd rank them I'd go with 1. Jujitsu , 2: aikido, 3: Judo
It's a lot easier than most people would dare to believe. However, aikido has less practical value today. As many people point out, the attacks demonstrated aren't close to what you'd see on a street. If you want to learn a practical self-defense, I'd say ju-jutsu of some kind works a lot better for faster results. Aikido offers a "softer" approach to training, and gives you other results than pure fighting skills, such as spiritual values and self-control.
hey, can you give me the "real" video of someone do the judo?
of course I'll choose the 2nd option!!! but the QUESTION is... is that easy to performed it??
Aikido was made for the battlefield to serve as a backup in the case of losing your weapon. It was never meant for a 1-on-1 bout in a ring. If you did have a sword sheathed, grabbing your wrist was a very viable way of stopping you from unsheathing it and cut him in half. I highly doubt Aikido as such would be viable in the octagon, but it has other purposes, above all it's fun to practice!
Uke (the guy doing all the flying) has two options when the techniques are performed. 1. Fall, in his case he aids the falling by applying break-falling techniques. 2. Resist, and have his joints broken, pulled or otherwise injured severely. What would YOU do, presented with those given options?
If you're in a situation where asses will be kicked, you've already failed.
ousse mes repsects il incarne le veritable sens de l aikido
I don't practice aikido, but I've successfully applied basic elements of it in sparring. I don't really know enough to form a well educated opinion, but in my view the offhand dismissal of aikido in favor of less flashy arts is unreasonable. It has faults, like any system, but it also contains delightfully practical techniques.
THIS IS SO FUCKING GAY AND MOTHERFATHER FAKE
i like aikido, but in a real fight i hate to say this but they dont run at you like this, they run at you throwing haymakers and jabs n all that, they arent going to grab your wrist if you are in a full fight with them and have u ever tried to block a real punch or try to grab the arm ? its tough. In a grappling situation you could use these techniques but as for this running stuff, it wont work like this in a real fight, it just dont happen this way, if they was grappling then yes
This is what great aikido looks like. Thanks for sharing this video.
Thanks for posting this. I have not seen him since I was in Thailand in the '90's.
Tamura! The BEST!
Yes aikido is effective in 'real' situations. As some people have said below, if you don't roll, you really REALLY get hurt. Many of the techniques displayed will dislocate joints and break bones if your opponent does not roll with them. To find someone in the street who will roll with them, probably is someone you won't be fighting anyway.
@Veng3ence Yes Aikido does work, the techniques are very painful becasue they are joint locks, and joint manipulation- you have to kinda throw yourself in practice and demos, otherwise, you will have lots of broken bones. The art of Ukemi is just as important as the techniques themselves, becasue if you do not fall properly you will also get hurt. When we train we know what is coming, we are flexible and can take it. Out in the street the techniqueas are painfull
tamara was so powerful
Best demonstration of collaborating v.s. resisting uke....
GO CHRIS GO !! je leerling Amer ;)
This one really looks like Guillaume (because it's him -LoL). Not to mention J.F. on the background...
@KurtCobain198666 Listen. I asked the question on 3 different videos at 3 seperate times on RUclips because nobody was answering the question. I finally got my answer so if you are so offended by what I asked then tell me how to delete my post. I have no idea how to do it. FYI You are the only person that has been upset by my question. I have no desire to argue you with anymore. Best of luck with your training.
@KurtCobain198666 What are you personal friends with the Doshu? Get a life man. I looked on your RUclips profile I see you attack harshly to many people on the videos they post. I think you got anger issues, you seem to pick fights with anyone that posts a comment on RUclips. Grow up son, there is a lot more to life than being a know it all on youTube.
@KurtCobain198666 Tohei thanked O-Sensei and moved on and created the KI Society. He took half the school with him. Towards the end of his life he made a mends with the Hombu dojo and Kisshomaru. I did my research and got my answer so let it go.
@KurtCobain198666 Sir we have had this discussion already and I have got my answer. Enough, if you are so offended the tell me how to delete these posts. I put the same thing on like 3 videos seeking an answer and I got it months ago. As for the answer I actually have found out Kisshomaru Ueshiba was never intended to be the 2nd Doshu, Koichei Tohei was and when he found he went into a drunken rage and direspected Tohei in front of his father.
last lesneven seminar for sensei. good bye, we keep you in mind
Thank you so much for this!!
Wonderful demonstration. I'm a student of Aikido, Kempo, Wing Chun, and Jeet Kune Do over the past 20 years. Although Aikido is my primary art that I currently study and have much respect for. I do not get the Nepotism that is given to the Doshu. I don't see that in the other arts. Is their an explanation for it?
INCREIBLE EL DOSHU
Who are those guys mocking your Aikido! It is GOOD even though you say it is a little soulless.I think.
