I'm thinking about getting this strat but I'm also considering the Vintera II 60s strat. I think I will get the Robert Cray simply because it has the medium jumbo frets, a 9.5 radius, and a more stable bridge without the trem. I appreciate the demo! Excellent playing.
The Vintera has taller frets. My Cray is also lighter than the Vinteras that I’ve played. But, they are fabulous. In January I was at Rudy’s in NYC. I was able to play a Custom Shop 56, a U.S. vintage 50’s and a Vintera II. Oddly all black with maple. I think all were fabulous. But, the differences were such that for the price? The Vintera was the best deal. The Vintage was twice the vintera’s price and the Custom Shop was three times the Vintera. The differences are there. But, they didn’t justify the price differences. I think of the ‘50’s v necks, I liked the Vintera the best. The custom shop was bigger than most real ‘50’s Strats I’ve played. The Cray is fabulous. But, mine is odd. Very light. Probably under 7lbs, with a very flamed neck. It holds up very nicely against almost EVERYTHING I’ve played. And, I’ve played some killer stuff lately. A ‘57, a ‘59, some absolute collectors grade guitars that are very expensive. As a player? These new Fenders hold up pretty damned well
@@philipbaderguitarplayer3246 My favorite pickups are the Pure vintage 57 and the pure vintage 61s. I thought about putting a set in a player strat but being that I own a Vintera II 60s tele, I know the Vintera II quality is a bit better. The Mexican Robert Cray strat and Vintera II strat are the same price. I'm typically a tele player which may be why the Robert Cray appeals to me. I like the tuning stability of a hard tail strat. Keep them videos coming. And thank you for your reply.
Nice
👍
Hey great playing and thanks for sharing. Question: thinking bout the RC strat too...is the 60s profile thinner or thicker than say an American Pro strat? And are the fingerboard edges rolled? Ty.
Don’t know much about the Pro. I do know the 61 profile on the RC is a lot thinner and somewhat flatter than my ‘50’s spec telecaster. 9.5 vs 7.25 radius. Rolled? Not like a boutique thing. But, certainly not sharp
Lovely stuff...thank you!!! Where did you get that shirt from? I've never seen a Kramer shirt before.
Somebody at Gibson sent it to me a few years ago. Apparently, Kramer is a Gibson brand.
Lovely bit of playing there👍
Thank you
Awesome
Great tone n playing.
Thank you
Sir, you’re an absolute legend. I would take classes from you if I could, and believe me I have never been moved to do so with any guitarist. Your tone is absolute perfection
I do consult via FaceTime. I humbly thank you
