CSUFMusic Weekly Recap Fall 2022 Week 4
This concert was a blast to play in and what an honor it was to be under the direction of Mr. John Clayton himself! One of the highlights of my time at CSUF.
2:41 The clarinets sound so beautiful here
such a beautiful piece performed!
I think of this performance of this piece every so often. It’s so brilliant
lovely soloist, and nice harmonic supportive choir. such a great piece...
I will in this performance (back row, trumpet). What an honor to play under his baton
One day, a live piece performance from me?! 🤞🏽🍀🫶🏽
he scared the crap out of me,,,great band though....went there on a scholarship in 1976,,,i wont say i had fun,,but it was a learning experience
Why is this soooo fast??
Good job 👍
Großartig und sehr berührend!
Very cool…. I’m seeing this today performed by local community chorus. I’m sure there will not be this amazing choreography…. Glad to see this recording and how it adds to the performance!
Is there any discussion of the singers' choreography, what it symbolizes? That would be super helpful.
Only in Sleep is a poem by American author Sara Teasdale. It’s about a lady remembering her childhood friends in her dreams. MP3 Recording of Only in Sleep Only in Sleep Only in sleep I see their faces, Children I played with when I was a child, Louise comes back with her brown hair braided, Annie with ringlets warm and wild. Only in sleep Time is forgotten - What may have come to them, who can know? Yet we played last night as long ago, And the doll-house stood at the turn of the stair. The years had not sharpened their smooth round faces, I met their eyes and found them mild - Do they, too, dream of me, I wonder, And for them am I too a child? Read by Diana Majlinger Image from “The Girl’s Own Book” (1856) by Lydia Maria Child
It is bliss itself to fall asleep while listening This beautiful choras in my warm and comfortable bed. This is a luxurious , splendid , gorgeous and beyond description's lullaby
He is the reason I went to that university. I am proud to have known him. A highlight in my life is when Benton Minor gave my first band a superior rating at a local festival.
🙂💕❤❤❤
Absolute perfection. The soloist really made me feel calm and would like to sleep....Bravissimo!!!!!
Moves me every time that I hear this. A profound poem and hauntingly beautiful piece. I succumb to The Feels.
Had to watch this for a class and really loved it. Watched it all the way to the end. The movements really give meaning to the music. When we are out of our COVID lockdown I'll try to go see them perform in person.
Howdy Shani! I'm so glad you enjoyed our performance! Our deal with the composer Caroline Shaw was that we could perform her music for free, but asked us to do something for the displaced homeless community in the city we performed in. We performed in cities like Pasadena, Fullerton, and Newport Beach and every penny made was donated to local homeless relief centers. We hope that this music can continue to inspire people to go out and make change, wherever they can.
@@andrewtrona Truly fantastic performance and initiative! Keep up the amazing work!
@@andrewtronaDid you tell Caroline that you planned on ruining her brilliant work with pointless choreography? I’m guessing no. Have some respect for the composer and leave their works as they are meant to be.🤡🤡🤦♂️🤦♂️💩
wow
An absolute LEGEND!!
I can never get through this without crying... Absolutely stunning and moving. Bravi tutto.
Great Man I had a chance to pick his brain while on Tour with the CSUF Wind Ensemble in Germany 1993. He was retired but still went on tour with us:) Brilliant Man
Go Matt!!!!
süß
Backing chorus is so strong!! well performed
Excellent band, but it's played too fast for a British march.
But you dare not ever telling him that.
I remember watching him rehearse a high school band at a clinic back in the 1960s in Pasadena....Fairest of the Fair (if I recall). He had those kids playing so musically with attention to detail in less than an hour. Benton Minor and H Robert Reynolds were two of the greats from that era.
BRAVO!
This is excellent. I have listened to almost all versions of this song on RUclips, and this is one of the best.
most technical for sure.
This is shimmering music. Composer and choir capture the beauty of the written words with perfection.
Isn't there a parade march RK did in memory of him?
