How to Install Skateboard Rails with Sex Bolts
How to Install Sex Bolts on a Vintage Skateboard. This is a 3 step process of drilling completely through your skateboard to attach rails for a grab rail or a slide rail on an Old School Deck. The deck being used will be featured in an upcoming Major motion picture in 2025. I set up 12 Period (1980 to 1984) decks all with sex bolts. You will need 3 drill bits in a 5/32, 3/16, & 7/32. Powell only mentions a 7/32, but this process will lessen the chance of splitting the wood when drilling through a deck that's worth hundreds of dollars.

Ok so how /why does lacing like this to start help?
By lacing the boot this way you will feel the difference in comfort and the break in will be kinder to your feet, but the best way to describe in words is that you need to mold the lower part of the boot to your foot 1st, before you start breaking down the top. If you lace your boots tight without relieving the stress in the high part of the boot your heel will slip up and down and you will get blisters and enlarge the heel counters and possibly tear the boot off of the heel. You should always lift your foot as far back as possible towards your shin before you tie the bow knot to relieve the stress against your shins, so you can bend your knees easily. You have to be able bend your knees and ankles when skating to apply pressure to the skate to make it turn. This applies to conventional quad skates however this technique was taught to me in the early 70's by a Harlick ice boot dealer. If there are areas of the boot that are causing rubbing or blisters, try using a round Blister pad (similar to a cosmetic pad) and use the rough side toward the boot or you can also use moleskin directly on your feet in the arch or heel area that is difficult to break in. Hope that helps. Breaking in boots is painful and something experienced skaters dread when buying new boots.
