Are these people stupid? They rate his defense highly, but how many fine plays would it take to turn a game around with 10 RBIs? Even if they give up 9 runs, Otani's RBIs alone will still lose the game. How much do they take into account normal grounders and flies when it comes to defense? How much of the defense could Otani have improved with his deferred signing bonus? Also, how much have they contributed to MLB in terms of merchandise sales and attendance? How many fine plays could Lindor have made to prevent a run? If Lindor wins the MVP after this, he'll be ashamed for the rest of his life. Otani is the DH. So it's the MVP of the year he didn't get it. If Lindor wins it, he should decline. It would be so embarrassing. He'll be told that for the rest of his life. Is an MVP like this even necessary? I don't think Otani thinks anything of it though.

Should be noted Skenes quick promotion after being drafted is not much if anything special compared to Merrill's 2023 season played almost entirely in A ball and played only something like 6 games of AA ball at the end of the season. To make a jump from A ball to playing a new position and being very successful at the plate at the MLB level is unheard of. This should be a learning year but instead for a short time a week ago he was challenging in Profar and Arraez for both the team and league leader in average(Arraez since then has gone in a tear and should win the title).

Yep…the AL Central teams have done well against the Sox. That said…the Mariners had a TEN game lead over the Astros at one point….and blew it. The Rangers won the World Series last year…and have been meh. The Angels had Trout AND Ohtani for years…and blew that opportunity…and the A’s are the A’s. The Yanks and Orioles are solid, and probably make the playoffs. The Blue Jays have been this rumored up and coming team for years…and never put it together…the Red Sox are rebuilding, and look good for the future, and the Rays draft and develop well…but they’re cheap and don’t spend money. My point is…is there some advantage to playing the White Sox…maybe, but the teams in other divisions missing the playoffs dug their own grave.

Skenes, as a rookie, has only lost 2 games, has an ERA in the area of 2, and if he was no a team like the Yankees or the Dodgers, Skenes would get it in a walkoff.

How does this methodology account when a pitcher wins the MVP? Yes, the Aaron award awards hitters, but defense has the Gold Glove, and pitchers have the Cy Young. No one in baseball really can define between "Best", and "Most valuable"
