Buying a house just got simpler!
Просмотров 202 месяца назад
Today I will talk about the costs which come with buying a house to give you an idea of how much disposable income you will be left with per month. I have used average data to work out the cost that comes with running a house and compared it to the income of a 2 person household. Later on in the video I look at how to save up the initial deposit as well as give some tips on how to maximise this...

There is many issue with Rolex, they don't want to sell you the watch if you are new costumer. The quality product is beyond others brands. The automatic movement is stolen from Seiko in the 70's. You can get killed for wearing it in any countries. Everybody got one, and especially people who don't know shit about watches. Still a great brand, but the statut behind it doesn't please me.

I think you make some good and fair points. I think you might be missing out on quartz watches. Look at G Shock, Seiko Astron for example - some outstanding tech can go into quartz and it's often only the watch snobs who say that quartz is bad (I know you didn't say that). Your NH35A movement in that watch will last for 20 years without a service. There's absolutely no point taking it off. Just let it run and run and run. When it eventually breaks you can replace the entire movement or service it (probably cheaper to replace the movement). I've owned a couple of Rolex watches. Outstanding quality and craftsmanship - but the AD's are disgusting, horrid places

If you have to think about what you might make in saving's interest, or what they may or may not be worth in period X time....then no offense but you really can't afford one and shouldn't even consider the idea. Absolutely nothing wrong with that mind. However... I do agree that they are simply overpriced for what they are. I bought a model 16610 in 2003 for £2,800, which I thought was a fair shout and insofar as it may be said, roughly worth what I was buying. Today, at a list of 9 grand? Do I think they are worth that? No. I absolutely do not. As for your point about security? Again, you are not wrong. Years ago, I never even thought about it. But now, I feel (rightly or wrongly) that I have to be 'aware'. Increasingly I have started to ask myself what is the point.... P.S. You'd have been far better off buying a Seiko. Great company. 1881 (some 24 years before Rolex were even established) and with many, many original innovations. Don't half-ass something that looks vaguely like a Sub. Buy something that is an original whatever rather than a second hand clone ;)

Rolex can be very frustrating as buying one from a ad is a long process .I have collected watches for a long time and like you are not super wealthy but have saved up and own a Rolex. watch owning and collecting is a journey and it's fun going through all the makes and models along the way. owning a Rolex doesn't mean you can't where it out just be sensible and don't take it out to nigh club's etc most of the time it's not a problem.if you want to buy a great affordable watch that is not that far behind Rolex for a lot less money buy a c60 Christopher ward best watch for the money out there (£600 used) thanks John 👍.

You’re wise and mature in that you admit the Submariner is out of your income bracket. That’s commendable, because many have purchased and sold their Submariners when times get tough, because in reality, they couldn’t really afford to keep it to begin with. Although I was still a child at the time, I miss the days when the average middle class gentleman or lady could obtain a Rolex. Rolex was a luxury brand the middle class could get into, and to some degree, that’s still true today. But the waiting lists and inflation have made that aspiration more difficult. I owned a 5 digit 16610 submariner. Great little watch. At the time of purchase, however, I couldn’t really afford to keep it. I knew due to my finances at the time would force me to part with it when times get rough. I was forced to part with it, too 😂 Today, I have the means to get a Submariner. But my love for the submariner over the years has dwindled. I like the design of the Tudor Pelagos 39 and Black Bay 54 more, which is why I own both. When you add up those two divers, I could have just got one Sub. But that’s not as interesting to me as having a 54 and P39. I much prefer the controversial, divisive snowflake markers and handset over the submariners hands and markers.

@@owengriffiths9144 🤣 You’re seriously funny. Have you ever been to London? Do you honestly think that the people who commit watch robberies just cruise up and down Oxford Street on their mopeds, hoping that someone coming out of Selfridges is wearing a Rolex that they can nick? They don’t. Robberies take literally seconds and these people have spotters, be it the guy standing behind you in the bakery or the guy serving you in Nando’s. Regardless of whether it’s an IPhone or a watch that looks like a Rolex, if they want it, they’ll do anything to get it. That’s why most guys in the City wear Smart watches and leave their Rolex at home to wear on the weekends. If you like the brand and have the financial resources, why not get one? It’s like anything else, just be careful of where you wear it and who can see you. You’ll always get your money back when you sell it too.

I agree with your comments. My son even said I should pay for his college tuition instead of buying a high end watch. And he is correct. I still think owning a Rolex is the pinnacle of serious watch collecting. I actually think Omega, Tudor, Longines and yes even Tag Heuer make more aesthetically pleasing watches. Those are the watches in my wish list. The Omega SMP on my list is more than halfway the road to a basic no-date Sub but still hefty money which is why I don’t have one and can’t have one yet. But watches have to me are my men’s jewelry and some have a special meaning. My first watch, a quartz Longines Oposition now belongs to my oldest son as he wanted to borrow it for prom. I bought a quartz Tag Heuer Aquaracer afterwards. So those mark big achievements for me. The Tag I tried it on dozens of times and I wanted it so bad. My mom gifted me a Longines Hydroconquest, my first automatic, so that is also another big memory for me.

Buy what you can afford and enjoy it. I daily a Rolex Sub, because I like it. No one notices or cares, its not a status symbol, and I've never felt at risk from anyone because I'm wearing it. I tend to wear my Omega Speedmaster to the office, because it looks smart. Don't baby them, and for heavens sake they are not for special occasions. I like them because I like mechanical watches. As for investments, its a different topic. I like cars too, but they are not investments. Neither are holidays. If you weigh every expense versus its Return on investment, life isn't gonna be fun. You could spend the next 30 years with one Rolex on your wrist, then pass it onto your son. I'd say that's an investment.
