Our goal was to make this as accurate as possible. We didn't cut out any important information or have the mock DPE answer any questions. This is a full length mock Commercial checkride done as close to the real thing as possible. No side tracks or teaching moments. We hope this gives you a good idea of the length and scope of your checkride. Grab the Commercial ACS and follow along 00:00 DPE B...
VFR into IMC Flying Blind || Flight Review
Просмотров 1,7 тыс.9 месяцев назад
Flying into clouds under visual flight rules (VFR) is one of the top causes of aircraft accidents. Hear our story and learn about the dangers and lessons of flying in poor weather conditions. This video was filmed more than a year ago and has become a great lesson for both of us. Events like this are why we recommend all pilots receive training from CFIIs in actual IMC and receive instrument ra...

You are flying the pattern wrong (and other lessons from foreign pilots)
Просмотров 78811 месяцев назад
Is the way you are being taught to fly the best, or safest way you could possibly fly? Are all pilots taught to use checklists, do runups, fly left traffic, and enter downwind at a 45 degree angle? The answer is no. General Aviation rules are different in every country and there must be a reason. We will look at four ways flying in the USA differs from common practices in the East and what we c...
Intro to Tailwheel Flying

A basic look at the factors involved in flying a tailwheel airplane. Topics such as groundloop prevention, gusty cross wind landings, soft field take offs, STOL practices, and more! A good first look at things tailwheel pilots must consider that pilots who only fly tricycle gear do not think about.

How to get an Aviation Medical Certificate
Просмотров 853Год назад
The step-by-step process for obtaining an aviation medical certificate. The medical certificate is a document that all pilots are required to carry when they fly. At Safety Pilot, we highly recommend new student pilots attempt to get their medical certificate as early in their flight training as possible, in case any unforeseen delays occur. Just passed my commercial oral and listened to this video at least 7 times prior to it. Thank you guys for making this a free resource for pilots to use. It's a great resource to get yourself into the mindset and familiar with how an oral will similarly go. It's important for anyone else who's preparing for the oral to understand this video is far from the sufficient knowledge you will need to pass the stage check, your examiner can ask any number of questions on whatever topics related to the ACS that they so choose. Study EVERYTHING

Think back: while you were immersed in your dire situation, all around you were pilots who fly in that kind of weather all the time and think nothing of it. To them everything was normal; they had no idea that in your cockpit panic was at the threshold. Experience and training make all the difference in the world. Makes you think, doesn’t it? Tell us: when you found yourself suspended inside that virtual ping-pong ball and unable to see anything but white and water, did you ever feel like you couldn’t breathe and were about to drown?

Frustrating that aviation tools are still stuck in the decleration of independence era. You better learn how to use a non electronic flight computer, a plotter, and sectional. Even though you'll never use one in your aviation career.

49:32 You're looking at the agl/msl of the towers and doing all the math to figure out the ground level... and then you realize that the point you selected has all the info in the right hand column - lat / long / and MSL! All teasing aside, I'm prepping for my commercial checkride and loved your video. Even though I couldn't get it out of my head that you were doing some sort of a split screen edit with yourself in different clothes the whole time.

When discussing the 35 in the Delta airspace, what do yo mean by solid boxes? I always thought if it had a minus in front, it meant up to 3,499 not to include 3,500. Do you mean that solid versus dashed can also mean that? Where did you find that information?

You may want to review engine roughness. The electric fuel pump is not only for starting. Floor to door would tell you fuel selector (both), fuel shutoff (off--in), mixture full rich, ill leave out throttle setting because you arent restarting the engine, and electric fuel pump on. You could have lost your mechanical engine driven pump and gravity could not properly get fuel to the distribution block. It could also be that you have the fuel too rich for the alt you are at, or climbing out getting detonation because the engine is too hot, so you have to lower the nose to get cooling.

Great job sharing your experience. One lesson I took away from this was to file an IFR plan on the ground if there’s any chance of weather issues, and cancel in the air if things turn out nice. Instead of taking off VFR and then having to duck around clouds, terrain and airspaces while filing a pop-up IFR.

cold front usually worst weather unstable atmosphere 3+ degrees per 1000 ft, good visibility possible squall lines and showery weather warm front good visibility due to stable atmosphere 2 degrees every 1000 ft and steady rain if any

    • @dominickhead1238

Stable atmosphere = bad visibility bc no lifting action to clear particles in air mass
