The most surreal thing about the Right, MAGA in particular, is that they have been SCREECHING about the "deep state" for 20 years. Yet, when faced with a choice, they consciously just voted FOR an actual "deep state" to run the country. Billionaires manipulating and buying votes to blatantly control the government is the definition of a "deep state."

I feel like I've seen this movie before.

It has nothing to do with wealth or maoney and it seems you want it to just stop at corporations which believe it or not have been successful because of the lack of oligarchy. The problem here is the same cause and effect of oligarchy is found on the factory floor, on the playground,in places where money doest even exsist and in church where money is not the cause or effect. Its human bloody nature. People want to belittle others to make them selves appear to rise. Instead of rising and bringing the others along. People cant handle their self imprisonment alone.

As a not-yet-old-enough-to-vote teenager in the early '70s I cut my political teeth on the ERA. Then we talked about what would change and why it was important for those changes (equal pay for equal work, legally co-equal status in marriage and equal access---think Title IX---in education, to suggest just three possible effects) to happen. We need to continue to target and talk about these kinds of changes and what they would mean when we realize our aspiration for a country where all citizens are equal.

If the people voted to ratify, they want it. If they decide to rescind, vote again…with the number of states that passed reproductive protections….im betting it will pass again.

People who have more money than they know what to do with, worm their way into your government, know far less than they think they do.

Ok first every president has been related by blood to king John all but one. The shit government tells you which two you can think you vote for its their people every time they all on same team they just pretend not to be 80 percent of you are just not paying attention. No matter what their people get in we are getting fucked and we pay for it with our taxes.

I'm a firm supporter of the ERA, but also a tad concerned about it. I believe it is a very important step and *should* be fully implemented, however the language of the ERA will be used by "conservatives" to exclude trans people of all stripes. It's a very complicated issue, and with LGBTQ+ rights under constant attack across the nation, it can and *will* be used as another weapon against us.

Hope you do one on Natural gas. It's going to become a lot more relevant.
