The reason heart shaped box is such a master piece is that it has a quiet but still noticeable second guitar track that is delayed by a bit which makes a huge difference in the surreal/dark tone of the song. The reason Kurt wanted pat was to get the depth of the songs that had 2 guitar tracks(and because it’s fucking pat smear from the germs xD) which is why I think the in utero tour musically was the best nirvana tour. Of course, chronologically it was the worst tour because of all the horrible management nirvana surrounded themselves with, and we lost Kurt... Kurt cobain had the cutest facial expressions ;(
