One of the McKinney sisters ( Evelyn McKinney ) married Billy Jack Wills , Bobs youngest brother.

I was born outside of Austin at the old Bergstrom Air Force base. I grew up in and around Austin in 60s,70s and 80s. I heard a lot of Bob Wills and The Texas Playboys and other Western Swing Bands. As a young teen I used to go visit this old man that lived near me. Well he was old to me then but looking back he was roughly the same age as I am now. He was a HUGE Bob Wills fan and had a big collection of 78s. We would sit hours and listen to old records and he would tell me about growing up and serving in WW2 . He flew gliders and was Involved in D Day at Normandy. He would show me old pictures of his time there and even still had his old uniforms. He told me the G on his wings did not stand for Glider but Guts LOL. Back to Bob Wills....I listen to all kinds of music. Rock , Country , Blues, Jazz , Swing, Bluegrass, Folk etc.... but my favorite "genre" of music is Western Swing and I consider Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys as the best band of all time in all music. Tommy Duncan was one of the finest male vocalist ever as well. I would put him up there with Bing Crosby , Frank Sinatra, George Jones among others. Sadly outside of Western Swing fans he is largely unknown or forgotten. I really enjoyed your video on Bob Wills and The Texas Playboys. Thank you.

Now that is just good shit kickin' music! Damn those old boys could play! Makes me long for a good old barn dance. Don't have them anymore either. I wish I could have grown up then. Life was so much simpler and better back then.

I love this. I wish there was an album box set of ALL Cindy Walker songs. I'd even be happy with many different versions of songs by different groups/singers. "It's All Your Fault" belongs in the American Songbook.

This was my dads top idol he was born in south Texas in 1904 and the first time he heard Bob Wills he taught himself to play fiddle,in the 1940s-50s he also had his own band and they traveled all over the United States playing dude ranches,country clubs,big barn dances etc. I was born in 1965 and by then he pretty much played in local bars ,VFW halls,Kiwanis clubs etc.My dad said he was NOT going to stay in south Texas on his family’s farm or pick cotton (he had 6 brothers 2 sisters he was the youngest).He could walk into any town we lived in and immediately get hired on as a fiddle player in the band.We lived in Arkansas,Texas,Arizona and he made his home in Oklahoma City (was where he met my mom,he played until the 1990s. I still got his old fiddles up in the attic somewhere 🎻..

This is the best online concert by the Surfrajettes (and I've watched all of them). It really is like being at one of their concerts. Plus, it's in STEREO. You can now hear Shermy in the left channel and Nicole in the right. That makes it easy to know who's playing what during a song (especially since they often trade off on lead during a song). A recommendation. Re-post this as a Surfrajettes video with the opening group (Gina Georgette and the Monarchs) removed. They have nothing to do with the Surfrajettes sound, and it's a drag advancing through the video to skip them and get to the Surfrajettes.
