Garden With Dave
Добавлен 17 фев 2024
Hey, my name is Dave Hohenadel and I enjoy gardening! I hope I can teach others some things I've learned along the way. Hope you enjoy the content, and leave a comment if you want to see more!
Thanks for watching!
The Kitty's name is actually Harvey. But, we just call him "Kitty." He is a good helper, but he is an indoor cat, so you won't see him in the garden.

Garlic Planting!
It was a crazy warm day for October, so I took the opportunity to plant out my garlic crop for next year.
First I took out the tomato plants, they were done for. Then, I used the big fork to loosen the soil where I would plant the garlic. Next I used the ol' garden knife to dig holes and plunk the garlic down in them. Lastly, I covered the area in fertilizer which will also act as my mulch over the winter season.
Hope your garlic planting goes well!
Cya next time!

Bulbs!! Missing Tulips, found the Hyacinth
Просмотров 3614 дней назад
So I dug this hole for nothing really. Watch me struggle to chip away at this rock hard dirt and not even find the tulip bulbs I was looking for. Ah well, we did find the hyacinth! For them I wanted to move them around so they weren't so bunched up in a pack. So we moved them around, that way we will hopefully have more blooms in the spring time. Cya next time!
Tomato Takedown (Most of them anyway!)
Просмотров 5921 день назад
OK, alright I've put this off for too long. Now it's time to take some of these plants down to make room for the garlic. The weather here is also starting to turn a bit colder at night, so the tomatoes don't have much longer to grow. Let me know if you still have tomatoes up. Or maybe you can grow them year round? We get winter, lame! Cya next time!

Outdoor Season Breakdown 2024
Просмотров 25Месяц назад
Don't worry, we aren't done out in the garden yet. I just wanted to break down some of the projects and experiments I made this year and the results. Usually it was failure due to squirrels, but some were mistakes I made. The real key is learning from your mistakes, and moving on to garden with the knowledge you've gained from the experience. Some projects to still do outside are finishing up t...
Tomatoes are Still Kickin'
Просмотров 89Месяц назад
It's about mid September here in Southern Ontario, and that means fall is approaching. So what we are doing today is giving the tomatoes a haircut, so they (hopefully) produce some more fruits before it gets too cold. I mostly just chopped off about a million suckers, and some leave that look bad. Also, right after I filmed this, the squirrels got the tomato I was talking about being almost rip...
Shady Looking Plants Ya Got There
Просмотров 32Месяц назад
This video is about plants that thrive in shady spots in your garden. Lots of them are ferns, and it looks like some animal was using my fern as a bed to sleep on. Crazy animals.... Check out some other shady plants I have around, usually along the fence which shades out the plants in the afternoon.
Potato Challenge is Over!
Просмотров 89Месяц назад
So the results are in for the great Potato Challenge, and the squirrels won. Yup, the squirrels stole most of my potatoes so in the end the Hay or Straw Mulch won. Most likely because the squirrels had an easier job digging out the spuds from the dirt. Sneaky sneaky squirrels.... Ah well, we got a few potatoes and they are delicious. We didn't get enough to make french fries, but if you want we...
Update on the Propagations

Well we cloned some plants, but then I left the small plants out in the full sun, so some got a bit crispy. That's ok, some did work. Some plants are very easy to clone, and some are more difficult. Just remember to protect your freshly planted cuttings from the elements to give them the best chance to grow. Cya next time!
Dead Head your Flowers
Просмотров 352 месяца назад
Dead Heading your flowers just means cutting off the old old flowers in order to free up some of the plants energy, hopefully causing fresh flowers to bloom. I do this pretty often to the roses, but the lavender will only get one or two haircuts. With a big lavender bush, it turns into a lot of chopping, took a while. I hope your dead heading goes well!
Pepper Harvest!
Просмотров 622 месяца назад
Today is a good day to harvest some peppers, and try one out. This is the first year I've grown Lemon Peppers and they are pretty good. A bit sweet at first, before the heat kicks in. We will cook some up in our lemon chicken and potato dish, a very delicious meal, these peppers will add a bit of spice to it. Thanks for watching!

Finally Time to Plant the Tomatoes 🍅 🍅
I liked when you planted the garlic
These bulbs are tulip bulbs!
They might be! I hope so, we'll find out in the spring!
Such nice eyes
Great video. I have a request. Could you walk around where you live? I'm curious to see the house you live in and your whole garden and the neighborhood. Thanks !!
Love your videos. Good gardening info. Keep them coming. Thanks !!!!
Thanks so much! I really appreciate it!
👍👍👍👍👍🤗
Don’t give up you have lose to win I have good and seasons, just the same as the farmers don’t win every time GOOD LUCK next time
I appreciate it. Thanks!
Wow! That was pretty sad. Did you keep the water up to them? Or you think the squirrels just stole the whole harvest. I dunno as we only have possums that love to chew up leafy greens.
Ya, I think the squirrels took every single one. I should have harvested early, when I felt the bag all full of taters. Next time!
In zone 9 we can grow two sets of tomatoes. One in February. One in August.
We are very jealous here. We would love more warm weather, rather than crummy winter.
Turns out the Impatiens or Touch-Me-Nots are not cold hardy. But they are cat friendly, so we can take a wee cutting and make a clone.
Thanks for your realistic results. Much like mine. Don’t give up!
Hey thanks! Hopefully next season is better.
Fifth lucky clover I've found so far!
Какой очарованный трактор🥹😋

Yay kitty time!!!!🎉🎉
To keep your cauliflower from being chewed, use a floating row cover, or just some netting. I'm going to get some for the broccoli.
Plants are looking good so far 😊
Hey thanks!

Fry em or mash?
Love a bit of tomato talk 😊
Any tips on how to keep Squirrels out of the garden? Let me know!

He is supposed to guard the garden from squirrels. But they still get in somehow.
