Our cities take account of concurrent geo-political and social factors when it comes to expand at the same time develop it as economically sound. All these and several factors taken into account help the city achieve it's success. A sound planning and vision can give you an unhindered execution, later to become heritage.
I don't have knowledge of vastu shastra and shilp shastra but I definitely think that these scriptures can give us insights in modern city planning. I wish to read them in future.

Jaipur was the first Planned City Of Modern India. There were many planned cities in Ancient and Medieval India. Such as Nalanda,Vikramshila,Keezhadi, Sompura etc most of them were built for a single purpose like Educations.

Video is very informative and graphics are self explanatory. Can you share the sources and references for the maps and plans. I am currently pursuing urban design and I am studying New Delhi. Now day because of Covid I am not able to go to my college library and data available on internet is not sufficient. If you can share sources it will be helpful. Thank you.
