Bmw F80 M3 Active Autowerke Catted Downpipes Sound Clips & Install
Просмотров 3,4 тыс.2 года назад
These Active Autowerke catted downpipes are easily the best quality down pipes I’ve ever installed, and while they don’t change the sound very much you can tell they are built with quality. If you’re looking to add downpipes to your car that won’t cause a check engine light, these are definitely the way to go. I would rate these as a 4/10 difficulty as far as aftermarket bmw parts go.

What model Tyre you use ?
Thanks!
Anytime! Thank you!
Definitely great information for anyone doing this swap
Sorry for bothering you but on Mikes site it only shows that the Harnesses works on 3 series up to 2006 Do you know if it works for 2008-2009 model's? Any help would be greatly appreciated 🙏
@@chrisv6008 no bother at all. Which harnesses are you referring too? Like the plug and play kits you can buy? As far as I know n55 cars are the only ones that have slightly different wiring
@Sfdgarage thank you for getting back so quickly greatly appreciate it Yes the plug and play harness like yours but on the site it says only up to 2006 doesn't have an option for 2007 or later?
Mines a 2008 and worried the wiring will be different where I have to hook the pedal an canbus box etc?
@ nope 2008 is a perfect year to swap, all the lse90 info is based around that model. My 1 series is an 09 but 08-09 are just about the same
@@Sfdgarage sweet thank you so much
Excellent explanation of what you're doing Thank you very much ,,I plan on swapping my 2008 335i but want to do as much research before doing so
This was a great video series man, thanks for taking the time to put this together. Very comprehensive, very clean build
@@creightonsmith1836 thanks! Appreciate that a lot 👍🏻
Recently spun a rod bearing on my N55 135i, same color, manual, convertible. Would the convertible top create issues for this build? Love the sound on this. What was total cost? What's the gas mileage like? Are you running 91 octane fuel? How much weight does this add to the vehicle from the stock engine? So many questions haha, I may DM you if that works for you. Considering a rebuilt N55 or going ham with this.
@@coupelikeacaravan convertible top wouldn’t cause any issues, you may have an extra brace or two under the car that you’ll have to work around with the exhaust. Total cost was about 14k and that included buying the car. 13.5mpg beating the snot out of it everytime I drive it, 93 fuel. Weight isn’t much different than stock since it’s an aluminum block.
@Sfdgarage what did you pay for the car to get an idea of total cost for swap alone?
@@coupelikeacaravan $3000 but I also already had a T56 so that’s another 2k
You might like the video I made putting in a retro manufacturing radio in my buddy's 1999 Silverado.
Is this in one of the lse90 swap tutorial videos? And thanks
Great job! This is really Gen 1.5 as the OG 1st gens are the flat nose from 87 and part of 88. Great, under the radar trucks with mountains of potential
Do you think it is possible to so this swap on jack stands? I don't have a lift in my garage and really want to tackle this over the winter.
@@Reason0684 definitely doable. Is it gonna be harder than with a lift? Oh yeah. But you can get it done on jack stands. I’d say 80% of the work is done from the front engine bay side anyway.
I mean we can say bad things about china all we cant but no other country would make replacement LCDs for 3 people and make a profit
i like when people repair stuff insteat of throwing away but the display is insanely expensive. buying the radio used is cheaper (in germany) i would have straight up bought a custom headunit for that price which would sound better and would provide more functions
@@Galax2000 buying a used radio is always an option but you’ll likely end up with the same situation of a bad screen eventually. My style radio screen for $80 is much more affordable then a 3-400$ updated headunit. I’m also just more partial to stock or oem+ interiors.
Great video and i don't even have a Bmw
Damn that display is expensive!
By the way... Do you know if there is any way of adding Bluetooth playback to this radio? MIne works for phone calls only and for listening to music a have to use a separate adapter :(
@@Djambo57 yeah I wish they were slightly cheaper, you can shop around on that site and find them a bit cheaper. But overall sub 100$ for the replacement screen is still a win over the cheapest aftermarket radio options
@ I use a Bluetooth adaptor that plugs into the usb and six input under the center console probably like you are. As far as I know there’s is not a way to add the function directly into the radio
@@Sfdgarage most people just see that an aftermarket radio is like $30 but don't realize that that's the lowest of the low quality. I would much rather keep a good stock than a crap new unit. and many stock stereos are pre-tuned to the speakers so they'll sound like crap with new speakers (bose comes to mind) as long as you have an aux jack you could pair your phone via aux or bt anyways anyways so it doesn't matter
@ definitely, I use a bovee Bluetooth adaptor and it works great. No complaints
i dont even own a beamer. still watched the whole video.
Hey do you think you can guide me alil more? I’m at the wiring part “BMW starter CAS to brake switch”… I have an 08 550i and my brake light switch wire is pin 24 on connector X60004. What do I need to do with that wire? Thank you
@@Stckit1 it’s gotta get connected to your cas module. On e90 and e82 it’s typically pin 41 on the CAS connector. But I bet it’s different on the 550. If you send me your vin I can look at the diagrams to try and point you in the right direction
@ I’ll send vin in a few hours when I get home. Do you remember the name of the wire coming out of pin 41? I have a list of connectors with the pin outs. It just gets spliced in or removed from CAS and brake wire gets swapped in
@ it’s labeled as Automatic Transmission going into the CAS module. On my car pin 41 ended up going from the CAS into the e box in the engine bay to the transmission connector. I cut it at the transmission connector in the e box and connected it directly to the brake signal wire that supply’s 12v’s when the brake is pressed.
@ ahh yes pin 41 on my connector says it goes to “transmission control”. It’s the “signal, parked position”. Sound familiar?
@@Stckit1 yup that should be the one. I believe it’s the signal saying the car is in park/neutral and it’s okay to start the engine
Thanks for the breakdown! Just a quick off-topic question: My OKX wallet holds some USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). How can I transfer them to Binance?
Good stuff per usual!
I'm going on 3 years for mine...
What an amazing swap, super clean bay. Want to do another Video- have a Manual E92 sitting at home. ;-)
Nice video. I am in PA too. I have an e84 im in the process of wiring but i have an 8 pin throttle body and my terminator x max came with a harness that states dont cut or modify. What do i do?
@@AngelR1987 if you’re running a Holley setup you’re gonna have to cut it to splice into the factory bmw pedal like in the video. For the throttle body side, they make adaptors to go from 6 pin to 8 pin. Check out psiperformance
@@Sfdgarage i have the 8 pin TB DBW, and the harness for the 8pin. I have been trying to make this work. I've been checking diagrams. I've been considering that maybe its my ls2 throttle body not being compatible. what are you using?
@@AngelR1987 I’m using a gold blade ls3 throttle body. It’s six pin already and didn’t need an adaptor or anything. I think it was in part 1
@@Sfdgarage I'll be getting that. I will keep you posted once mine is running
SEM trim black is so good. Well done!
No car looks great with black wheels. They don’t show up on video or pics. Bad choice
@@jeffkoch8612 they need to show up on video or in pics to look good? I don’t choose my car modifications based on how much clout it’ll get from randoms on social media. I don’t typically like black wheels either but I think they will work well on a red car. We’ll see.
@ They look like shit in person too. It’s like the mod a non car guy does ‘to stand out’ and the first mod undone when the car changes hands.. Welcome to reality
Hi, very important to change it if you don’t want coolant leak and damage your injector ! The engine idle sound is normal ? I hear a sound like knocking or ticking ? Do you have more information about that ?
@@yusuf_45 yup that’s totally normal sound on the S63. Especially on a cold engine but they all make that noise your hearing
@ it was your own car ? I hear the normal sound of engine (that’s a little bit loud) but in he background I hear another sound like a knocking, specially after the cold start.
That’s how these engines sound. Completely normal
Were you able to use the stock transmission or did you have to make any changes or swap it as well?
@@BigMvK I used a Chevy T56 transmission. But there are options for using the stock bmw transmission with this swap
Hello I’ve been considering doing this swap and I think I have all my bases covered other than wiring. Which is not my specialty to say the least. My question is how much of the wiring work could I go without doing (if any) if I had a Standalone Wiring Harness that is a 1 Wire hookup? This is a motor that fully runs on a pallet. Thanks in advance!
@@maseningram1527 hey, the issue you’re gonna run into using a stand alone wiring harness that isn’t the Holley or maxxecu is there will not be any CAN bus integration with the vehicle. Lse90 can box can only communicate with a Holley setup to have the interior gauge cluster work. If you are okay with finding another way to monitor engine function inside the car, a stand along gm wiring harness will work just fine. But honestly I think the wiring would be easier if you used a Holley wiring harness/ecu because it’s been covered in depth and works with the bmw chassis perfect.
Where are you in PA?
youre like an hour away from me lol
Just picked up a 2009 E92 328i w/6 speed manual with full intentions of doing an LS swap.
Amazing swap, could you post some free revving and cold starts?
@@JakeJanzen-n5b definitely can

@@PartialRug 😂 not all autos are lame and they are definitely nice for dailying
Great video. Completely agree with the sentiment that mild v8 works perfect in these chassis for a street car to compliment the car as they come
She definitely sounds great!!!!
Thanks for all the detailed documentation. I can’t wait to do this to my 128i after enjoying the i6 a little longer 💪
Would this tool work for changing the N55 motor to N54 the way it’s needed for the Holley terminator?
@@GarrethStaveley I’m not sure of the question specifically but you can do all kinds of coding like coding a n55 chassis to a n54 chassis yeah
@@Sfdgarage okay so no need for NCS expert then?
@ so far protools has been able to do most things you would need ncs expert for
Man I wish I would have went with a swappable chassis when I bought my BMW. Awesome job on the car!
@@UpanovrOffroad thanks!
That thing would make a great daily
So f-ing badass man! Good for u. Do u think the paddle shifters can still work for a 5 series with 4l80e??
@@Stckit1 I’ve seen other people get them working when using maxxecu setup but you’d have to do a little more research on it to find out for sure
I have enjoyed watching this as I'm in the process of starting my swap shortly. The only difference will be I will be using the MaxxECU instead of the Holley.
@@Reason0684 I’ve heard great things about the maxxecu. I’d love to try it out one day
@@Sfdgarage The only reason I'm going with the MaxxECU is that my car is a DCT and I would like to keep it that way instead of converting it to manual. If I was going manual, I would use the Holley like you.
@ the dct is such an awesome transmission. You should document your build too
I've always wondered, how do people go about finding engines compatible with a certain chassis? Intuition would have me believe it'd be incredibly difficult.
@@floof3167 it’s a lot of trail and error but sometimes you just gotta go for it. It’s hard to go wrong with a v8 in anything though
Very nice. Would be great to see a how to overview
@@michaelcoyle1062 check out the three part video series on my channel! It covers every step!
Nice job man - I’m doing mine this winter, using a 335 gearbox - this video will be helpful! Thanks!
Did you drain the coolant prior to starting this or can you remove just by clamping and refilling any little that escapes?
You don’t have to drain coolant completely, that’s why he clamped hoses and then he refilled it under vacuum
Well, this clears the lights but wouldn’t you want these lights remapped somehow so they correspond to the appropriate LS codes? Otherwise would you be flying blind if your LS ever developed issues?
My friend had this problem and it was his TPS auto set not loading 😅
That’ll definitely do it 😬
