How do I do the border please
Hello, I recently completed call the midwife blanket following your tutorial- I'm left-hand and found your video so helpful, so thank you! I'm now wanting to add this border. Not sure how to do it for that blanket? Any advice id be truly grateful 🙏
@@karenthomson2437 hi Karen I'm delighted to hear that my video was helpful to you. So you want to add the border. I'm wondering if you placed a mirror in front of your phone or laptop would that reverse my instructions so that you can see it going left to right instead of right to left??! Hoping this may help you. Please let me know.
@@e.b.handknits8151 Thank you for replying. I can follow your tutorial and reverse it in my head, however I'm confused when it comes to the border where I'm putting the stitches into as I'm trying to copy this border onto call the midwife blanket. I'm not sure where to start i.e. like on a corner or in the middle. Is it double crochet all around to start off and how would I do the sides? Sorry, not very good explaining it x
Where can I find the border for this video please? 😊
Hi loved crocheting with you you take your time explaining everything so beautifully very relaxing listening and watching you please do more tutorials also could you show us how you crocheted border please ?
@@yolandatanios4373 many thanks for your kind words, it means a lot to me. Unfortunately I have been diagnosed with motor neurons disease and can no longer speak clearly. However I am trying to do more videos with the help from AI and my clever son. The border video is one called how to crochet a border onto a blanket. Hello, how many starting chains did you please use for the blanket you gave made?
@@GiovannaDiMarco-d1l hi there the blanket I made was 7 blocks across. So each block takes 17 chain plus 7 chain. So for the one I made I chained126 in total.
Lovely tutorial, thank you.

Where are the directions for the border??

How do you change colour wool ?
Hi Kathleen to change the colour of your wool is quite easy. So your last stitch you have worked is for example a treble (UK) stitch. When you are just about to pull through the last two loops on your hook, pull through using your new colour. So basically whatever stitch you are working just before you complete the stitch, use the new colour to complete it. Hope I've made that easy to understand.
You are an awesome teacher
Thank you so much for explaining everything so nicely and slowly for this 80 yr old! I want to make this into a lap blanket for my best friend of at least 65 years. We have been through a lot together through those years and have been best friends through good and bad times! God bless you. PS. CALL THE MIDWIFE IS MY FAVORITE TV SERIES!!! One more thing! What size would you recommend for a lap blanket? Thank you and God bless you and yours.
Thank you soo much for your lovely comments. I too am lucky to have a best friend for 40+, years and to be honest I would be lost without her. I have always told my children you don't need lots of friends in this world but one good friend is enough. I also like you Kathy, love the call the midwife series. It's the one programme I insist on watching every week. It's just brilliant. In answer to your question about size, it all depends on what size your friend is Kathy. You could measure the chain across your own lap and judge it from there. I'm sorry that's not a great answer but when I don't know the size of the person it's hard for me to judge. The only thing I would say is be careful about the length as you don't want the blanket to be a trip hazard. Hope that helps a little. Take care.

Kathy thank you soo much for your lovely comments. I too am lucky and blessed to have a best friend of 40+ years and to be honest I would be lost without her. You don't need lots of friends in this world but if you have one truly good friend, that's all you need. You are an incredible teacher.Thank you!
Thanks soo much. Unfortunately I have motor neurone disease and my speech is badly affected. But I'm hoping with the help of technology and my very clever technically minded husband and son I can continue making tutorials. But thank you again for your lovely words, it's very much appreciated.
So glad to find you just did that border and it turned out amazing 🤩 thank you 💕
Whats the good chain for a blanket?
If I want to put this border on the Call the Midwife blanket would I put 2 double crochet stitches in each chain space all the way round?
Yes that would be fine.
Beautiful and I love the border too ❤ Thank you for the tutorial
Thank you soo much.
Hello 👋 I am thinking of you today and wanted you to know
Oh Stacy thank you soo much. Some days are hard but for the most part I'm doing ok. My speech is not great but I'm hoping with technology I'll be able to make some more videos soon. Hope you have a lovely day and are keeping well xx
Love your demo so easy to follow😊
It’s beautiful ❤
Love this pattern and how well you explain and show how to make it. Do you have a written pattern that can be downloaded or purchased?
I'm glad that you enjoyed the video and found it helpful. Unfortunately I don't have a written pattern. Thank you for checking out the video.

Many thanks Dawn for your kind comment. I have a video named "How to crochet a border on a blanket" which is the tutorial for this border. I don't have many video tutorials yet so hopefully you'll be able to find it easily. Thanks.

Love this pattern. I like to chain 2 for a tighter stitch. Thank you 😊
That's the beauty of crocheting you can adapt it to suit your tension or the way you prefer stitches to look. Thanks for checking out my video 😀
This is one of my favorite patterns. Good to know I don't have to double crochet into a stitch, just around it. Game changer!!!
Thanks soo much for your comment, glad I could help a little.
Porque no sé pone subtítulo gracias
Hi it’s beautiful so you don’t go into the chain you go through the chain space
I found it much easier to just go into the chain space rather than the chain but if you prefer you can of course go into the chain. Thanks for checking out my video 😀
Thank you for the lovely tutorial you shared with us it was an absolute joy crocheting with you You explained everything so beautifully I was able to finish this beautiful blanket . What boarder can I use to complete this blanket please
Hi Yolanda many thanks for your very kind comment. I am delighted that you were able to follow my video and complete the blanket. I have another video which shows a very simple border, and is perfect with this blanket. The video is called How to crochet a border on a blanket. I'm hoping you will find it helpful. My favorite pattern to do.
Very clear instructions this is my next project
Thank you soo much for your lovely comment, hope you enjoy crocheting your blanket.
Treble stitch: is it in U.K. terminology or the U.S. Thanks very much.
Hi Sheila the treble stitch is uk terminology. Hope you enjoyed my video!
Thanks very much for your quick prompt response. I used the U.S. terms since I started the scarf with the U.S. tutorial. . I think I got it correctly.
@@sheilajohn5489 you're most welcome.
I'm adding the fringes to finish it. Unable to post the scarf
@@sheilajohn5489 ahh it's a shame I can't see it but delighted that you have completed your scarf and enjoy wearing it!
Hi I would like to know what is the size of the wool is it a 4 or what is the size thankyou for the information have a nice day god bless you 😊🙏
Hi Linda-mary the yarn I used for this blanket is uk double knitting yarn which I think is equivalent to a no.4. I use a 4mm hook which is the recommended size for dk yarn so maybe check the yarn band of no 4 weight yarn to see if it is a 4mm hook recommended, if so then no 4 weight yarn is the same as my dk yarn. Enjoy the pattern.
Hi I thankyou very much for the information have a nice day god bless you 😊🙏😊
Great instructions thanks 😊
You're very welcome, enjoy!
Really under stood u and thanks for going slow as I am deaf I'm going to do this
Ah I'm delighted that you understood everything Janet, happy hooking!!
Thank you so much for your tutorial !it’s nice and slowly explained to give you time to crochet along making learning so much easer.
Ah Wendy thank you soo much for your kind words. Glad you enjoyed the tutorial. Happy crocheting ☘️
Hi I've got 3 1/2 balls of DK discontinued yarn that I want to use up? they're roughly 300m a ball. If I wanted to make your 40inch x 30 inch blanket with a border that you mentioned in the video. Is that a starting chain of 126 for the 7x15 blocks?
Hi Stephanie many thanks for your question. Yes 126 chain is correct. Each square uses 17 sts and you need 7 extra. So if you wanted to make it larger just add more multiples of 17. Best of luck with it and please if you have any more questions don't hesitate to ask.
Great video, love the Irish voice , brilliant 👏 thank you 😊
Thank you soo much for your lovely comment!
Great description of how to make the blanket, I have used this stitch but will try it out. Love your Aran.
Thank you very much!
Thank you for your tutorial.. so you have one for the doll?
Thanks Cheryl, yes I now have one for a doll 🤣🤣. Hope you enjoy crocheting yours!
@@e.b.handknits8151 Thank you very much.... I am unable to locate the doll tutorial, can you please help.
Oh Cheryl I'm sorry I thought you meant as I was making a small one in the video it would fit a doll! I'm sorry I don't have one for a doll but you could work two squares across and two squares up, I'm sure that would be big enough for a doll. Hope that helps.
Thank you very much.... I was meaning the pattern that crochet a doll....not a blanket for the doll. Unable to add a pic to show you..
@@cherylo353 ah now I understand. Sorry Cheryl but no I don't I'm afraid.
