A solar balloon uses free energy from the sun to heat its black envelope. By conduction, the envelope heats the air inside it. The hot air contained in the envelope is less dense than the outside air, therefore lighter. Expression of Archimedes thrust.

I cant seem to find any low end bags... Do you happen to have an Amazon link or something?
I buy the trash bags in the supermarket. They need to be as thin as possible.

17μ seems ok. I weighed 1m² and found 16.3g.

Bonjour, je fabrique et fais voler des ballons solaires... Je trouve votre réalisation intéressante mais un ballon hexaédrique est bien plus facile à réaliser... même si la quantité de film plastique est plus importante (la densité s'en ressent mais la portance est quand-même au rendez-vous). Bonne continuation et bons vols !

☀️ Thanks, but it was mostly a test flight. By weighing I wanted to know the thrust per ft3. Here is the max value that I noted: 0.21lb / ft3, or a thrust of 13.2lb for this balloon.
Is it made from bin liners and parcel tape?
Yes, black bin liners welded and reinforced with packing tape. Everything is low-end, for more lightness.
