No. Jimi doesn't "play leads". Jimi plays coherent songs. If there is only one guitarist - is there a solo? No. This is a very important point and one that this player should consider. What he (and most guitarists) did was stop playing the song and slide another song into the song that the band continued to play. Jimi didn't use dynamic phrasing like that to show off - even though he really liked to show off (he showed off with chord structure/changes). Here's the test - remove jimi's "lead" from fire and is it still the same song? No. He's not on top, he's not an overlay - he's integral... Not separate. It's a bridge - not an "insert impressive playing here" part of the tune. Good technique though.

You got one guy trying to sing with as much rasp and grit as he can muster and then another guy singing who sounds like a 9th grade science teacher OVER music that is 1 old as fuck and 2 done way better originally. Rule number one of covering songs, boys… Don’t make it sound worse.
