What team did they play against
Thank you for commenting! This came in the 2020 season against Cincinnati Sycamore. They only finished 1-7 that year but played in the largest division in Ohio, with close games against schools like Cincinnati Colerain, Mason, and Princeton. This was actually a really good game that was 12-3 going into the fourth quarter before Ironton would pull away late to win 33-11.
Thank you Tyler, I had a great time doing the interview.
Great interview Elijah! It was a joy to have you!

Hi PJ! Great question! There are too many to count. It has been a joy to get to connect with coaches and parents of several different programs. It's fun to watch people, regardless of who wins or loses, work so hard to achieve their goals and learn skills that will be useful throughout life.

Outstanding interview Tyler! This is your best one yet. Coach Pendleton clearly knows what he is doing with regard to coaching high school athletes and helping get them recruited. This interview is a gold mine of good advice.
Thank you for the kind words Ryan! Especially coming from such a highly respected broadcaster that means a lot. With you having been through the process recently, what was something that worked well for you?
@@theplayerspotlightCoach Pendleton covers it so well as he is an expert on this topic. If I was a parent with a high school football player having aspirations to play at the next level, I would be seeking out a coach like this. His knowledge and work ethic are priceless. The only thing I would stress is to not overlook the “lower levels” if one of those schools is a good fit. If you choose wisely, it can turn out to be a great experience for your player and a free degree while playing a game is a pretty good deal. I know my daughter chose the University of Pikeville and ended up having a great experience under a great Coach in Clifton Williams.
@@ryanparkersongs Nicely said! And that is an excellent point about not overlooking the "lower levels" especially with the transfer portal being the way it is. I think of current Tennessee women's basketball coach Kim Caldwell and her 2022 NCAA Division II national championship team at Glenville State. Two of her players ended up transferring to play at Buffalo, and had great careers there!
Great Interview Tyler! Keep up the good work!!
Thank you for the kind words Rick! Coach Pendleton was terrific! As a parent, what insights and tips can you give pertaining to the process?
I would love to read some thoughts. What is the biggest challenge you have faced in the college sports recruitment process, and how did you overcome it?

Thank you for commenting Paul! Agreed it is DPI and an amazing catch despite that!
Wow I’ve watched him develop he’s come a long way! Great kid, hard worker! His dad is a very nice guy as well! Best wishes
Thank you for commenting John! His mobility has improved tremendously over the past couple of years and like you mentioned, his work ethic is incredible. He made an excellent fit in the middle for Hargrave Military Academy this year and in my opinion, although I do not claim to be an expert, I think he will have a chance to potentially get to see the court early in his career at the collegiate level.
Likeable and well spoken girls. Just found out that they're visiting Tennessee on recruitment. GoLadyVols!☺
Thank you for commenting Jeff! They are so much fun to watch. Mia does an excellent job as a scorer and Mya does fantastic as a facilitator. Called some of their games at the John Wall Invitational and they are so much fun to watch, not to mention excellent attitudes. Not to change the topic, but based on some ties and knowledge I think you have a lot to be excited about with Coach Caldwell. I am a graduate of Marshall University where she came from and keep up with the program. She did some great things here. Having also called games for WV State in NCAA Division II, she used to coach at rival school Glenville State and two years ago won a national championship there. Her teams will press, trap, and run the court the whole game. You will see a lot of wholesale substitutions and it won't be an unusual sight to see her play 12 players in a game. She may play 12 players in the first quarter. Her system is fun to watch. She played for Coach Charles Marshall at WV State when he was an assistant at Glenville State and Charles has turned WV State around running this system. Kim has an amazing ability to relate to players. It will be exciting to see what she does at Tennessee.
@@theplayerspotlight Much appreciate the info on Coach Caldwell. Yes I am a long time LadyVol fan. So very familiar with the program and the late Coach Summitt. I'm definetely looking forward to the upcoming season. And if coach can bring in the twins? Reach for the Summitt, indeed. Thank you for your great reporting!
@@JeffmChicago Thank you for the kind words Jeff! I would say a system like the one she has will keep them interested and at least Tennessee will be in contention for landing them. If you get a chance, you'll likely get to see them play at the John Wall Holiday Invitational this December which is streamed on Hoop State. Morris Catholic is coached by a class act in Billy Lovett and one of the top teams in the country. Another player to watch on that team is Jax Edelman and I fully see Coach Caldwell going after her. The lengthy forward will be a sophomore and already has several D1 offers. Prep Girl Hoops ranked her #2 in New Jersey recently.
