Gravy boats can be unique and interesting if you use the techniques of throwing and altering. The gravy boat is a fun form to play with, being asymmetrical by nature, requiring a spout and a handle and enough volume to hold plenty of gravy; but otherwise, you are free to change it up. This is the second of three gravy boat projects.

This is the first of three videos demonstrating how to make thrown and altered gravy boats. The gravy boat is a fun way to explore making handles and spouts, with some of the creative challenge of a teapot, but not quite as difficult!

I demonstrate the process of throwing a fermentation crock for making sauerkraut or pickles.

This video goes through the entire process of making an oval casserole dish with a flanged lid. I start with throwing all the parts; then I alter it into an oval and create the lid; then I show finishing it and attaching handles. It's long, but a complicated project!
