I was wondering if you could give me some advice on streaming live to ustream using an hd camera going to a PC with Ubuntu?

I came here for minecraft, not the rest. But you do get points for Linux.

just wondering how hard is it to get someone to write a quick program for this with blank spaces for rtmp server and stream key with basic functions like stream a file of videos in a loop by or select an area on your screen to stream with all those presents you mentioned on ubuntu this is a big gaping hole in the applications

If there scared of the command line you can always use SimpleScreenRecorder www.maartenbaert.be/simplescreenrecorder/ since it just works great, its easy to configure and he has lots of help right there on his site. Help including instructions to get it working with twitch and other streaming sites. Highly recommend it.

Not sure how much it matters, but I would like to add you can manually select a upload server closer to you by going here: bashtech.net/twitch/ingest.php and picking a server near you. For instance the US East: New York, NY is rtmp://live-jfk.twitch.tv/app . Then just append your key to that rtmp://live-jfk.twitch.tv/app/yourkey_nnfgsgdf$3dfgfg

Do you know if u can record gameplay, game sound and mic with this recorder? Also can you record minecraft without that bar at the top?

I would suggest using Dxtory. I had a duel monitor setup and it worked fine for me.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'm actually using simplescreenrecorder on linux to record. I've tried playing with it fullscreen and unfortunately it messes up my desktop settings because I'm running a dual monitor setup. - research on the right, gameplay on the left. It's a good suggestion though and one I'll keep in mind. If I can figure out a way to keep it from throwing my desktop setting wonky I'll try that.

Nice! You earned a subscriber :) I noticed you play Minecraft in a full size window. Try playing it in Fullscreen (F11) It may give you a few more FPS, and also remove the blue bar at the top. If you're using fraps to record, you need to go fullscreen, alt+tab, and go back to fullscreen for the FPS counter to work. :)

Hey, I use linux and fraps doesn't work well under wine so I'm using a linux based software named SimpleScreenRecorder. IT's fairly equivalent to fraps as far as I know. Thanks for the suggestion!

Awesome, I overlooked the redstone config on the engines themselves. And yeah thats the right one block ID of 151. It was included in the 1.5 redstone update along with droppers, hoppers, and comparators.

I've thought about testing those out, but honestly haven't gotten around to playing with them. I may add them to the list of things to look at to supplement power. Maybe distributing it over several types of production will help avoid a materials/power dearth.

You've probably been asked this before, but have you ever considered DartCraft's Force Engine as a BC power source for your quarry? It produces 10 MJ/t if configured right, and lasts a pretty long time on a just a few force gems.

is the daylight sensor in 1.5.2? The only one I see uses nether quartz and I don't mind using that. Also on the mags, you can adjust the rs signal to 'ignore, low, high' High will require the rs signal. That's a good reminder though, thanks!

There is the vanilla Daylight sensor for those magmatics. Also if you use buildcraft pipes, you can install gates that will emit a redstone signal if power is requested. Though magmatics turn off when a redstone signal is applied so you'd need to invert the signal first.

Well, seeing as how Potato runs on Linux and MUSHClient does not, I prefer Potato out of the two of them. To be completely honest however, I mainly use TinyFugue as I've built up a set of macros/scripts for it over time that are extremely useful.

So, what do you think, Potato vs MUSHClient? I've been using MUSHClient for years, but someone recommended this one to me.

I too use recordMyDesktop, if you select on the fly encoding then there is no synchronization at all. If you don't the video is ok, but you have to wait a lot for the encoding to end. An other problem is that, if you use the "pause" functionality then the video gets messed up. So without on "the fly encoding" and "pause" recordMyDesktop does a good job. I will try your solution, I hope it works better.

This is a big problem with Linux in general: APIs (and their associated tutorials) change every 5 minutes it seems.

any recommendation on how to grab all of a secondary monitor to the right. The problem I have is that my left side monitor is smaller than my right side and it seem to force ffmpeg to use the lower res.
