Hi! Thanks for the video, it was informative. Seems I might have the same problem. What's the part number and rough price of the disc drive you purchased in this repair? Today I got a PS3 slim from Goodwill. Goodwill had some TV's so I tested it the machine. It worked just fine with a Batman PS3 game I found at the store. The CD was accepted and it loaded up, no problem. In fact I played for about 5 minutes. The machine and controller it came with were kinda dirty, so tonight I cleaned them. The controller works well. So far, so good. Anyway, turns out the Batman game from Goodwill was the previous owners as its info was stored onto the counsel. Just like earlier today, I played it for a bit and then watched a DVD. So far so good! THEN I discovered a problem. When I attempted to play my copy of FIFA the game wouldn't load. The game was accepted into the PS3, but after a few seconds the machine made the same CLUMP noise as in your video. So now I'm wondering what's going on. How come the DVD and Batman worked? In another repair video the guy said to perform a machine restore followed up with an update and supposedly it would fix the problem. Any advice? Thank you.
Ok so I have a check 2501a model.. does the disc drive for that model have a daughterboard. Or can I just switch them out as needed. I'm having this same issue and I have a new disc drive for it
Greetings, I was doing maintenance on my PS3 and the flex or heads of the Blu-ray reader were damaged, when I tried to connect it they were already damaged, I have the CECH 2501A console and I need to buy now those FFC/FPC Flexible Flat Cable Ribbon flex cables, but I see 2 differences in these cables 'Forward Direction' or 'Reverse Direction', for the 8 pin cable and the 14 pin cable which is the correct option to avoid making a mistake when buying?
Is this a 2001A? It's what I have and I remember it read some ps1 games but not tomb raider
Wow!
I need to change the her drive to a 2TB at least.
So anyone knows what the exact issue?
Bruh, why are you skipping important steps?
Love my modded ‘51…put in a 1st-generation noiseless SCN Fender single-coil and a reverse-headstock Warmoth Strat neck- awesome.
I bought one of these about 12 years ago. Mine has a string thru body, tortoiseshell pickguard, Fender telecaster neck MIM . So i assume Fender also made these in Mexico .🤔
HAHAHAHA! Be sure to rinse out the toothbrush before you give it back to your kid!!! I just got my first Dot, which is about 17 years old. I love it. I have some probuckers that will be going into as soon as I have the funds...
Exactly my thought. I agree that a $300 Chickenbacker is not preventing the sale of a $3,000 Ric. Chickenbackers are just for people who won't or can't buy a real Ric. Chickenbacker isn't cutting into Ric's bottom line.
Only does it for mgs4 for me
where did you get your sticks?
Can you do it in your PlayStation3 super slim
Looks great From the headstock decals, it seems to be a 1999-2002 Bronco Bass. It would be nice to hear how it sounds. Well done!
I know it's a set up video, but would have been nice to hear a few chords at the end.
Nasty break in the back of the guitar
I bet the tech was an old guy. Old guys hate multi scale guitars with more than 6 strings. He tried to sabotage it n purpose, which included throwing dirt on it. I hate boomers.
24:25 maybe that’s why the saddles can be reversed to prevent the chance of contact? I noticed your screws are on opposite side from factory too.
Is there any other way to process it without the databoard from the disc drive? I throw my old one away 😅
I admire your patience! I'm trying to fix my playstation at the moment. I bought a new cd drive for it but didn't know about having to change the chip over so it doesn't work. I'll be sure to try out your methods.
it worked! I can use my playstation again!
Good video but the music's enough to make you jump out a window
The Burns unique gearbox Truss rod adjustment was used under licence by Gretsch for a time. Baldwin took the quality of Burns guitars rapidly downhill once they acquired them. It's no wonder rhey couldn't sell them. I have several original Burns guitars and the new ones brought in by Barry Gibson are pretty good too.
My internals are North American, however the disk drive that I am replacing is Japanese. Will this work or not?
I have a 2000 Dot. I replaced the neck PU with a P-94 (single coil which fits in a humbucker slot). I think that I paid $430.00 for it (w/ a good case) when the shop had it for over a year (6/2001). For the money it's a really good guitar. Mines natural and the wood grain is starting to be more visible.
I can confirm this method works like a charm! Basically you need to lift up the ps3, almost at a 45 degree angle . And if that doesn’t work, lift it up higher till it’s 90 degrees
Someone suggested when loading disk to tilt up the PS3 about 60 degs and the disk will drop in properly so the Lazar can read it. Worked for me but needs to be fixed.
Yeah same, my PS3 sometimes doesn’t want to read games and that little trick works, but I don’t want to have to do it every time I play.
Headstock pich is a dead give away. Rickys dont have slanted back headstocks
Nice - thanks.
Why would you skip frame of the actually disassembly you...🤦♂️ you guys on youtube make stuff more difficult a majority of the time
Great video, I agree with your overall assessment of how these fit in Fender history. I have all 3 (Japan Fender/VM/original). Of those the original and Fender versions have a thicker neck than the VM. The VM is string through body like the Fender Japan.
I got two ps3 slims that wont read discs and one overheats
Incredibly informative, absolute boss. Gotta keep these old units alive
Worst bridge and nut I have ever had the misfortune to work with... I'm doing setup for a friend because the thing doesn't stay in tune and the high B keeps slipping... I'm pissed because the high string E already broke twice for no apparent reason, I'm not even over tightening the thing. it has no break angle as in the strandberg and doesn't have a metal disk to hold the high strings, I suspect thats the reason the strings break.
My slim does this too except with CDs and PS1 discs it spins, sounds like it is ejecting then stops spinning. PS3 and Bluray discs play fine. So looks like I will be replacing the laser assembly as well. I can run my games from the hard drive via CFW but I'd like to have a fully functioning system. Plus I can clean out the dust and repaste the CPU/RSX.
Wow, I just spotted my guitar @15:28 - the Blonde/Tortiose...how cool is that! I put a Guitar Fetish (GFS) bridge on mine, and a GFS vintage style humbucker...an LP-style pickup selector switch. At the time I probably sank less than $100 in the mods, including the pickguard. Oh how times have changed. I still have it. I call it my "stunt guitar". It's the one that gets the odd tunings occasionally but mostly just hangs on the wall looking good. It's in need of a proper setup these days but I love it anyway. I bought mine for about $35.00 new because it was on sale and I had a valuable GC gift card to spend. Thanks for the thrill of finding my guitar in your video! Imagine my surprise.
My disc drive is roaring at me and refuses to take the full disc in
It upsets me how someone can treat a guitar the way the last owner of this one did. Broken pots, missing covers, etc. I don’t care how “low end” this guitar was intended to be. It carries a name that is to be respected. “Made in USA” isn’t just a phrase, its value.
Man I’ve been trying to find this guitar in this color for a while and can’t find it anywhere
There’s a guy on FB selling one but he is about 8 hrs away from me. Does anyone have any leads on where I can find these?
A little site called Ebay!
I built the same pedal about the same time you posted this. It's actually decent. I built another boost based on EQD Arrows. Sold that and kept this Landtone on my board instead. My enclosure is different though, plain pink powder coated. I just scribbled "Mr. Pink" on it with a sharpie. Somehow the name seemed appropriate and every boost I build moving forward will be a shade of pink.
I own a MIJ Fender 51 and its the best guitar I've ever owned
The latest 310 - 325 Chickenbacker guitars have the correct angle headstock. The paint seems a lot better, not perfect, but pretty good. After having 8 real Rics, I’m impressed with the latest build quality of these fakes. Rickenbacker is not the perfect guitar, their QC is almost a joke.
This was the first guitar I owned in 1965. I was 15 years old. Purchased it used for $15. They were/are crap guitars but I learned to play on one. I don't understand why they are going for the price folk are asking for them now/. I wouldn't pay more than $30 now for one and not to play but to hand on the wall for nostalgia reasons.
I was hoping you would do a sound demo.
10 months later.. is it still working?
I have this very similar issue with my PS3 slim, but idk why after turning it on it won’t read the disc. It tried to spin and it kinda does but then after trying it completely gives up. If I leave the ps3 turned on heating up a bit after like almost 2 hours(or maybe even less time) after it’s heated up, the ps3 will read any disc just fine. Idk maybe dusty laser idk tbh
mismo problema bro le inserte un disco mp3 luego una película y al último un juego y ya funciona.. también despues de unos intentos de abrir y cerrar la bandeja de discos.. aah yo tengo ps3 super slim
That's exactly what my drive is doing! And the same model, or at least the same disc drive. Haven't heard many people mention the false eject type noise. Mine was reading blurays fine a month or two ago, but suddenly wouldn't play a new bluray I bought and no audio on another. Thought the disc was faulty and got a refund on it (also thought my unit was playing other blurays fine though... Feel kinda bad about it even though it was only $10.) I was thinking about going ahead and just replacing the laser mechanism, but gonna clean the original lens w alcohol first. That's always done the trick in other old disc drives. If that doesn't work, just gotta pinpoint the mechanism model number, drop $30 on it and hope for the best. Good to know about the remarrying thing with new complete disc drives too. Heard the term in passing, but I thought it was maybe for non-OEM-spec drives or something.
Did cleaning the laser lens fix your problem? My PS3 does this as well. It sometimes won’t read a game and will make the eject noise without actually ejecting the game, but sometimes they load up just fine.
Great work man thank you for this impressive video I have the same problem with my ps3 and now I know what is the problem with mine thing is I can’t do the fix now cause I don’t have the money but at least I know what is wrong with my system thanks for your work and keep on playing
